it's quite simple for most of us non Liverpool supporters to understand
being a Liverpool supporter apparently renders oneself unable to comprehend what qualifies as a racist remark
here is a clue, it might have something to do with the word "black" , in whatever language

I'm not a liverpool fan (not by any stretch) and I don't understand. Calling someone black is a descriptive word, same as ginger, fat, bald etc..

I will openly admit that I have stood on the terraces and also whilst playing called someone a black champagne, an aussie champagne, a fat champagne, an old champagne, a Northern champagne, an ugly champagne. Why is one of them so much worse than all the others? It's just a descriptive word, you pick on the thing that makes that person different to the rest to describe him.
because Aussies (although if you had your way), old people , northern people, ugly people have not been systematically enslaved en masse and openly treated as sub human by multiple societies for hundreds or even thousands of years just because of those particular traits

black people on the other hand......

and can we stop comparing aussies or Danes or English to racism
"countryism" and racism are two entirely different things
So what is the correct address?

In Spanish of course, as that language engaged.

how about they all just learn and speak English, then this problem wouldn't have occurred.

Suarez would have just called him an cheese eating, surrender monkey and we could have all laughed at the frog and moved on.

when someone addresses you , do you expect them to use the word "white" in the exchange ?
they would more likely not ever even bring your colour or race into the argument
that is how it should be for everyone
using ones race as an insult is not ok in any language, spanish or otherwise
so the correct address is , one that doesn't bring the persons race into it at all

the term "black" is is fine but not when used in a derogatory way
Bruce Djite is a black man , fine
Bruce Djite is a black c..t , not fine

why is that so hard to understand?

I agree in principle.

The problem lies that Suarez insists vehemently there was no intent and this was not used in a derogatory way. Evra also admits he misunderstand the actual word.
Compounding this problem is that there was a lack of hard evidence, shambolic process and glaring inconsistencies which appeared to count against only Suarez.

Is that not xenophobia and a form of prejudice to disregard the nuances of one language spoken and apply the context to subjectively to another?

People that speak a language other than English will understand that words and phrases cannot simply be put through a translator.
I could reel off a hundred words in Greek which are innocent in the context of the Greek language, but literally translated back to English are offensive in nature.

In fact, this was one of Evra’s defence when he said “[suarez called me this word]…..like ten times” on French TV. Apparently in French that doesn’t actually mean 10 times, it’s an expression they supposedly use (although backed up by no one) which cannot be translated word for word in English. Go figure.

Now why is it hard to understand that given the massive element of doubt it’s prejudicial to hang someone out to dry and chase them from the country (see the latest disgraceful media musings!) with a racist connotation that sticks permanently.

It’s so glaringly obvious the whole farce was a misunderstanding that could have been cleared up in seconds. But once Evra put it in the public domain on French TV insinuating Suarez said n*gger (which he later retracted) that was the point of no return. A drop of blood was in the water and the sharks circled....

Although I agree it became farcical, don't blame Evra (even though he's a twat, and French). Suarez could clearly see that he'd upset him and immediately after the game should have apologised, or been told to. Why he failed to do so I don't know but it's led to him missing 8 matches.

I think, having seen that the bloke was furious, I would at least ask WTF I'd said that upset him so much.

Dunno if you remember the game or not but Evra was powder keg all game before the incident.

And, if you see your opponent is upset (especially if you think you've done nothing wrong) you take it as a badge of honour and just on with it.
You don't stop and say what's wrong pal (eeerm negro) lol

If you'd bothered to read my earlier posts, you'd have seen that I was talking about after the final whistle. I have no problems sledging or kicking (I might draw the line at biting) an opponent during the game but afterwards all I want is a handshake and a beer.

My nationality is more important to me than my race, so insulting my nationality is worse.

The UN defines racial discrimination as:
the term "racial discrimination" shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin that has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life

therefore black cunt is just as racist as English or pommy cunt.

No, but facts are the English are not the convicts, we sent the convicts here and they became australians.
