Get of your high horses and proud history, FIFA is a powerful organisation, and the consequences of not negotiating with them will become aparent in the years to come, so you want your history (and your clubs should be proud), then start thinking about the future.[/quote]

what can FIFA do to Div 5 player?

This argument will go on forever and ever and ever with most agreeing to disagree with eachother. There is NO right and there is NO wrong, there are only opinions.

I understand where both sides are coming from. Why would the SAASL clubs want to leave a stable competition that has been run successfully in their eyes for 30 or 40 years to join a league who seems desperate for dollars??? Its a case of better the devil you know than the one you dont know

As for the pro FFSA people, i also understand where you are coming from.

I myself believe this. I believe that Football should be run under the 1 banner and that be the FFSA banner. However, i also believe that the FFSA has people paid to do certain jobs who have no interest in the game of Football, but only have the interest of their jobs and fair enough, they also have families to feed. Football though, in this state, needs to be run in a way that all people of all ages can participate at any level without having to endure an unaffordable cost to themselves or their family/ies. This is the part where i see a huge problem, and this is the part where i see the FFSA failing the sport.

You ALL need to understand that the WORLD GAME isnt a sport that is only for the elite rich. It is a sport for ALL humanity, and it is the sport that brings people all over the World TOGETHER. Some of the greastest players that ever lived came from VERY POOR families who couldnt afford to send their children to a public school let alone pay for them to play at a Football club. Its time we opened our eyes on all sides and had a look at the bigger picture, because i fear that all we will do in this state is actually put people OFF from playing our game and that would be disastrous considering the sport has only now started to gain the momentum we know it can after it has was left in the Australian Sporting Wilderness for centuries.

I cannot stress the importance of the FFSA needing to stop playing Football God in this state, and actually sit down and talk with its sister league that is the SAASL. Only with meaningful democratic conversations can this saga be resolved, otherwise, both sides will in the future continue to be at war, only when that time comes, you will be arguing about whose at fault for DESTROYING the sport in THIS state  8)

COLOSSUS, I know we haven't quite seen eye to eye in the past, but on this occasion I agree with many of the views you have expressed.
I hope others contributing to this topic can see that it is important to steer clear of personal attacks as I would not wish to see this debate end up in the forums "recycle bin" (again).

Just to add a slightly different perspective to this debate.

About 2 years ago, Ingle Farm started to raise some money for a C Team player who's young son developed a rare form of cancer. He needed to be flown to Sydney and live their for about 8 months to recieve life saving treatment. We did a few things like a raffle, players donated match payments and three other clubs, Modbury Vista, Elizabeth Downs, Fulham and a player from Vikings all helped us raise money for young Liam.

We put something on here about what was happening and if anyone could help. It was picked up by Coast FM and they interviewed us to see how they could help. Before all this, the SAASL had rang me up, offering to donate a very large sum of money and donate food for a BBQ which all proceeds were going to Liam. We didn't approach the League at all. They came to us offering.

This might not effect anything in regards to fees, levies etc but it did show to me that the SAASL is more about community. The fact that 4 other clubs and the league get off their back to help us out showed me that while their are some flaws, its a great set up and soccer community we have.

Well that is certainly a good story.

I still wish the league acted more professionally when it came to football.

Can you give me an example of where they haven't acted professionally. It can be hard to the league to act professionally when not many clubs act professionally.

Your point on clubs not acting professionally is a good point. We all should be on the same playing field. But who's responsibility is it to ensure that clubs act professionally?

The Clubs committees and ultimately the members who elect those committees......in other words...everyone !

And hypothetically, what if the clubs committee do not follow the ethics and integrity of the league and the game itself? What will be the consequences? Are there any?

Hypothetically, what if your club, committee and members are all trying to do the right thing and pherhaps a few other clubs, might be taking advantage of certain situations. What then who's responsibility is it then, or do you just keep doing what your doing, hoping they too will do the right thing. Surely someone needs to police/govern this.

Anyway next year. I am going to be registered as Horto Alepou Magiko. Then at the 3/4 mark of the season, I may as well invite my godbrother over from Europe who plays for a national team and captains a top European side to join us ...of the record.

We crunched the numbers last night, and it will cost our club about 50% extra to join the FFSA league compared to the SAASL (based on two teams and 40 registered players). Each time we register a new player outside of the first 40, it will cost us $53 in the FFSA and $37.50 in the SAASL.

In pure dollar figures, it will much more expensive to join the Metro League.

I would have to agree with your findings, as expected, Metro fees were always going to be higher

Just out of curiosity, are the first 40 cheaper or more expensive to register?

In the SAASL, the insurance is charged per team rather than per player, i.e. the SAASL Accident Fund is $300 per team no matter the number of players. Under the FFSA, you pay an insurance levy per player.

Yes however in the SAASL, clubs take out additional public laibility insurance.

Where at the FFSA, that is included in the Insurance Levy.
