Funny, I thought this was a Liverpool thread. Not concerned with our attack options at the moment. Berbatov's still with us and Bent knows how to score goals. Without Keane getting in everyones way and missing penalties in key games, we should do alright.

Well at least you're lifting the bar of expectations this season, I hope you finish in the top half this time round!

'as usual'

so you'd have preferred to have not had him last season then?

LIVERPOOL V MIDDLESBROUGH: STAT ATTACK
Ged Rea 22 August 2008

Here are all the important pre-match stats and facts ahead of our first home game of the season against Middlesbrough.
# Head to Head (League only)

# At Anfield: Liverpool 36 wins, Middlesbrough 13 wins, 17 Draws.

# Overall: Liverpool 56 wins, Middlesbrough 37 wins, 39 Draws.

# Last season here the Reds won 3-2 thanks to a Fernando Torres hat-trick-his first in the Premiership. Tuncay had put 'Boro in front while Stewart Downing completed the scoring on the day.

# That was the second meeting in six weeks after the teams drew 1-1 at the Riverside with Fernando Torres cancelling out a goal from George Boateng. It was only the second game in which the Reds had scored in the last nine visits to Teesside.

# In the Premier League Liverpool have won 12 and drawn nine of the 26 meetings.

# Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 20 League meetings with Middlesbrough at Anfield winning 14 and drawing six.

# Home and away Liverpool are unbeaten in the last seven meetings with 'Boro since losing 2-0 at the Riverside when Chris Riggott and Bolo Zenden scored.

# Pepe Reina made his Liverpool debut against today's opponents on Teesside in August 2005.

# In the last 40 games, home and away, Liverpool have lost only six in the League against 'Boro.

# Should Fernando Torres score today he will become the first player in Liverpool's history to score in nine successive home league games breaking the previous record of eight set by Roger Hunt in 1961-62.

# Liverpool's biggest win against ‘Boro here came in 1931 when they won 7-2. Their heaviest defeat in the fixture was in 1907 when they lost 4-2.

# Fernando Torres scored more league goals in his first season against 'Boro than any other team (four goals in the two games played).

# Robbie Keane has scored seven career league goals against 'Boro. The club that has suffered most at the hands of the Irishman is Manchester City with eight.

# Liverpool are one of 10 founder members of the Premier League taking part in this season's competition.

# Yossi Benayoun could make his 50th appearance for Liverpool today in all competitions.

# Ryan Babel could also play his 50th game for the Reds.

# Should Liverpool score four goals they will record 400 in all competitions under Rafa Benitez.

# If Liverpool record a victory today it will be first time under Rafa Benitez that they have won their opening two league games of a season.

# Fernando Torres has scored in each of his last five league starts for the Reds.

Yeah thats definite. Agger has the potential to go on and become the best CB in the world imo.
Just wish he'd get a game..preferably along side Skrtel every now and then..with Carra at RB. (just to satisfy those carra lovers)

cara>arbeloa at right back. put him out there and put arbeloa on the bench n stick to dossena at left back
now that we got our full team back we should play like:
reina
cara, agger, skrtel, dossena
masc alonso
gerrard babel
torres keane
that would work imo

Riera Ready To Become A Red
According to reports emanating from Spain, Espanyol winger Albert Riera is set to complete his move to Liverpool today.
El Mundo Deportivo has reported that Catalan outfit Espanyol have reached an agreement with Premiership giants Liverpool for the sale of winger Albert Riera.

The deal is believed to be worth €9 million upfront, plus €3 million based on the player’s performance, totalling the €12 million that Espanyol were holding out for.

Both clubs are now working on the finer details of the transfer and once it is completed, the 26 year old will fly out to Merseyside to pen a four year contract with the option of a fifth.

Espanyol president Daniel Sánchez Llibre revealed that the Blanc-i-Blau will have to dish out 30% of the transfer fee from the sale to Girondins Bordeaux as part of the agreement when the winger joined the Catalan side from the French outfit.

Llibre has also assured that the club have already begun looking for Riera’s replacement and a possible option is River Plate’s Olympic gold medallist, Diego Bounanotte. The 20 year old would only cost Los Periquitos around the region of €4 million and El Mundo believes that both parties have already made contact to begin negotiations.
don't know much about him but a winger could be good i guess
