How do the Liverpool fans feel about the prospect of leaving Anfield? I suppose most of you couldn't give a toss since it's the other side of the World?Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has admitted it is looking increasing unrealistic that the Reds will be able to redevelop Anfield.
The club had hoped to increase capacity at the ground to 60,000 from 45,000.
But Ayre said in a statement: "Land/property acquisition, environmental and statutory issues are creating barriers to our ambition.
"It looks increasingly unlikely there is any way we can move forward on a refurbishment of Anfield."
"The game is about glory, doing things in style and with a flourish, going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

At least our new ground will still be in L4 (Anfield), unlike Spurs who want to go to the other sound of their City......Nice One Cyril wrote:How do the Liverpool fans feel about the prospect of leaving Anfield? Re: Liverpool 2011/12
The OS is five miles up the road from WHL so it's hardly decamping to the other sound (sic) of the City. Back on the subject though, you are one of the ones I would expect to care. You've been there many times and sampled the atmosphere (as have I several times), but I was wondering about those Liverpool supporters who don't have any ties to Anfield, would they care if you moved to Stanley Park. Does the heritage actually mean anything to them.e-football wrote:At least our new ground will still be in L4 (Anfield), unlike Spurs who want to go to the other sound of their City......Nice One Cyril wrote:How do the Liverpool fans feel about the prospect of leaving Anfield? You could equally apply the same question to Spurs fans btw.

Re: Liverpool 2011/12
A straight answer from me.
We need to get a bigger stadium. If that meant reduced crowds for a few years whilst Anfield was being re developed I would have no problem as short term loss for long term gain is not a worry.
Anfield (the area) has gone downhill tremendously since i moved over here, due to the new stadium plans, the whole area was going to be redeveloped as part of the new stadium, and slowly houses have been knocked down in readiness, businesses have gone and TBH it’s not a very nice place any more, so for the area we need action and soon. (No jokes about what it was like before).
As it appears that we can’t redevelop Anfield we have to move, but the fact it’s only a stone’s throw away, I am not distraught, you need change to progress in all walks of life.
So to sum up, it’s not what I want but as it has to happen I am behind the project.
Back to Spurs, I think 5 miles is a fair way, and to go from North London to East London is a shift that has pi**ed off a lot of Spurs fans

Re: Liverpool 2011/12
Does anyone know a good source for tickets for home matches?
I'm looking at trying to get to Liverpool v Blackburn on Boxing Day this year - I've been quoted $290pp (with accomodation), which is paying probably a $100 premium imo... also, they're (from I can tell) the cheaper short-side tickets. What's the difference?

Leicester City sign Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky
Leicester City have signed Liverpool left-back Paul Konchesky for an undisclosed fee.
The England international, who was capped by Foxes manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, has signed a three-year contract at the Championship club.
Eriksson told the club website: "I know Paul well as a player and as a person. He will be a top-class addition."
Konchesky, 30, joined Liverpool for £3m in August 2010 when he was signed by Roy Hodgson from former club Fulham.
But the Londoner made just 18 appearances for the Anfield club and was loaned out to Nottingham Forest in January.

Konchesky was handed his England debut by Eriksson in a friendly against Australia in 2003 and his second appearance was against Argentina two years later.
The Swede added: "Paul has been a Premier League player year in and year out throughout his career so he represents a very big signing for us.
"It means a lot that proven, established top-flight footballers want to be part of what we are building here."
Konchesky began his career as a trainee at West Ham before moving to Charlton where he made more than 169 appearances.
Following a brief spell with Tottenham Hotspur, the defender returned to Upton Park in 2005 and scored in the Hammers' FA Cup final defeat by Liverpool a year later.
He left West Ham for Fulham in 2007.

Guangdong Sunray Cave 3-4 Liverpool FC (1-2(Poulsen 19", Ngog 22", Coady 72", Carroll 85")
Conceeded two goals late which flattered Guangdong abit. All in all a good first hit out. Charlie Adam came on at HT and sprayed some lovely long balls around. Coady scored his first senior goal.

Apparently, Downing will sign today. I can't make up my mind about him, sometimes he looks good and other times complete pants. Hopefully at Anfield he'll be the latter ![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)

Adam also sprayed the ball out of the park a handfull of times also. 3-4 Was not very flattering at all. Poor defensive errors were the cause for the majority of goals. But, a win is a win no matter how you go about itredders wrote:Guangdong Sunray Cave 3-4 Liverpool FC (1-2(Poulsen 19", Ngog 22", Coady 72", Carroll 85")

Dixie Dean was hailed by another Mersey legend, Liverpool’s Bill Shankly, as “belonging in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Rembrandt and Shakespeare.”

Liverpool agree fee with Aston Villa for Stewart Downing
Liverpool have agreed a fee with Aston Villa for the transfer of England winger Stewart Downing.
Downing, 26, will now discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
Villa chief Paul Faulkner said: "We've reached an agreement with Liverpool following an improved offer received on Wednesday and the submission of a transfer request by Downing.
"We believe there are replacements available in the market who can strengthen our squad."
Last week, Villa turned down the Reds' opening £15m bid and it was understood that they were refusing to even consider a price for the player.
Downing would become Liverpool's third major midfield signing of the summer following the arrival of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam.
He would also be the second high-profile player to leave Villa Park this summer following Ashley Young's £17m move to Manchester United.
Downing, who has two years left on his contract, was said to be eager to make the move to Anfield particularly since talks on an extended contract at Villa Park had stalled.
New manager Alex McLeish had previously said the former Middlesbrough player was not for sale.
"He had a magnificent season last year and really came to full maturity as a top player. I understand why there are teams interested in him and that is what happens when you play well consistently," McLeish said last week.
"His performances last season were top drawer. That's why he's not for sale. The club don't want to sell him. I spoke to him briefly and I intend speaking to him again when all the lads are back in for training."
Downing began his career at Middlesbrough where he spent eight years before moving to Villa in 2009 for an initial fee of £10m rising to £12m depending on appearances.
He won the first of his 27 England caps in a friendly against the Netherlands in 2005, when he came on as a second-half substitute. He has yet to score for the national side.
Liverpool are currently on a pre-season tour in Asia and opened up with a 4-3 win over Chinese side Guangdong on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, striker Nathan Delfouneso signed a new contract that will keep him at Villa Park until 2014 and chief executive Faulkner said the club would also be looking to add to the squad in the summer.
"We are also working hard to conclude a deal for a goalkeeper who we believe can also strengthen the side," he added.
"As soon as we have dependable, conclusive information to share then we will do so."
Re: Liverpool 2011/12
Been waiting for this for a long time. Top signing.

To me Downing is a modern day Steve Guppy.
