Squad depth doesn't generally become an issue when you are only around a 1/4 of the way through the season.haywood djablowme wrote:Black_Panther wrote: I think that squad depth will hurt Arsenal & Liverpool this season. Let's be honest there isn't much past the 14th best player in either squad.

Yes we are short 2-3 players but currently top of the EPL & C/L group so they must be doing something right! I beleive Wenger will buy in January if we are still around the mark & hopefully this will push us on for the rest of the season with a couple of additions.
Our squad is on par with most of those mentioned by you above, we are 2-3 players away from really challenging on all fronts

Arsenal are playing very well right now
Chelsea will be there around the mark
Man City getting better and better
A fight with spurs for the 4th spot

I would love to say pushing for 4th, but I am not yet convinced with the way Moyes wants united to play.
And if we keep missing goals, its goin to be very difficult IMO

Man United should finish in the top 4, all things being equal this season. For all the doom and gloom, the only difference between Man United and Liverpool at present is the 1 nil home victory to Liverpool.

Easier said than done. They held their ground before the season, but if they get offered 50 mill + he will go.

Apparently Liverpool asked Fulham to field a weakened side so that they could impress their esteemed visitor from Adelaide with an easy win.

I don't think he will go mid season. Start of the season, he didn't want to be here and we kept him + he changed his attitude. Now he is happy and loving football. If we keep this up + maybe add a player or two in jan, I reckon he will definitely stay.Derek wrote:Easier said than done. Whether he goes this season or next, he's going. One offer from Real and he will want to leave again.

Re: Liverpool 2013/14
For $50mil+ I'd let him go if he wants to go. No different to Torres. Put Suarez in the current Madrid side and where does he play? Who will pass him the ball? Having watched a few of Madrids games this year, if it wasn't for the complete unselfishness of Benzema, Ronaldo and Bale would be stuffed. Take him out and put in Suarez, you're asking a focal point player to be a passer. Not sure, after the football we've been playing so far, that Luis would want to leave for that situation. Even if it is a case of taking Isco out for a Suarez/Ronaldo/Bale combo behind Benzema, still asking him to let go of the ball a lot more.
We need a proper wide man (or 2) with pace and dribbling skills. Moses is ok (reminding me of Babel a bit), Sterling still has so much to learn (like a first touch), Hendo is better in the middle as is Coutinho.
As we looked much better with a 4-4-2 / 4-2-3-1 last night, we need quality for the wide roles... who that is though is a tough one as most of them all got signed up this season or last season.
Need ECL next year to be able to entice players like Bakkali PSV, Lucas PSG, maybe even make a move for boyhood LFC fan Theo Walcott if he finds he can't break in to the gooner line up now that Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshire and Carzola are all playing together.
Side note, Fulham keep playing like that and they'll be relegated.

When did Torres come back to liverpool and disguise himself as Joe Allen? Disappointing result given the chances we had. How mirallis wasn't sent off is a joke. Shocking challenge.

Great game of football, disappointed to not get the 3 points though....bloody Joe Allen
and the defence didn't seem too interested in shutting down Lukaku, he had so much room all match it was getting ridiculous..Sakho should have started

Re: Liverpool 2013/14
You Goons are going soft (maybe you've always been like that), when the ball's in the air you have to raise your foot. His timing was out, but it wasn't as bad as those 'over the ball' challenges you see when the ball's on the deck. Yellow card was right I think.haywood djablowme wrote:Suarez missed that good chance late on with his head but Allens beats it. It is a contact sport after all and Suarez seemed to run out the game OK. A couple of stud marks on his knee, whoop de doo.

I assume you meant how he WASNT sent off was a joke. He could easily have been booked a few other times during he game (that would have been second yellow), but Dowd gave some Reds players soft cards instead.totsreds08 wrote:When did Torres come back to liverpool and disguise himself as Joe Allen? That said, was a cracking game, with nearly no tika-taka bullshit at all.

Absolute stick on red card.
Like Rogers said, if that was Suarez making the challenge, imagine the punishment? Imagine the following outrage.

Re: Liverpool 2013/14
Disgusting tackle by Mirallis, should of seen red! That could of been a very nasty injury. Suarez is no angel, but a tackle like that SHOULD NEVER be allowed, end of!
So many incorrect decisions lately by referees in the EPL!
Maybe the foreigners are a targeted species in EPL?

Performances were always going to suffer if one of the front two got injured. With Coutinho out as well, their squad is showing it's pretty thin.
