Re: ENGLAND WILL WIN THE EUROS
In this case there is FA that the FA can do. I can't think of any ruling that they could bring in that would alleviate this issue.Nice One Cyril wrote:They're called the FA for a reasonGod is an Englishman wrote:What do you expect the FA to do about it?ozzie owl wrote:Definition of insanity is doing the same thing time and again and expecting a different outcome, sums up the English FA.

How did the germans do it? I'm presuming by their clubs not having as much money as their English counterparts.
The money will always be there to bring in the best and not worry about youth development. The clubs will care about what can make them money and if that means buying a cheap foreigner then so be it.
The knock on effect was that the smaller clubs (crewe being the best example) could survive by producing youngsters and selling them on. That's not the case anymore.
It's wrong but the only way to stop it is to return to the 2 foreigner rule. However, the FA would lose the court case that follows as it would be breaking European Law.

After all the stuff that has been said about the Great England, they only lasted as long as the Greeks. When will they learn that they must develop youngsters and spend the money in developing good quality coaches. If you build it, they will come.

Some nice quality passing football by the Manchester team although I think even Stitch Jnr's Wednesday night twighlight school team could have put Singapore under the pump.ozzie owl wrote:I was watching Eurosport last night showed an under 15 tournament and Man City were playing.

Oh, yes you broke my little heart. We started the tournament off, not in fine fashion but one thing you will get with any Greek national team is that they will play with pride and give it 100%.

What aboiut a rule where only four players can be selected who have not completed 5 years in a accredited FA academy. Now I know the clubs will bring in overseas juniors but it will redcue the the overall numbers and force clubs to use academies.God is an Englishman wrote:ozzie owl wrote:FA can start by controlling the game and maybe follow the path that germany took with finacial regulations and junior development.

So, if we were to pretend your stats are correct:predator wrote:Shots on goal (to quarter final stage)God is an Englishman wrote:Greece 1 win, 1 draw
England 2 wins, 2 draws
Ronaldo 13 England 11
England 5 goals
ronaldo 3
So England scored with 45% of their shots on target
ronaldo can only manage 23%
Re: ENGLAND WILL WIN THE EUROS
How do people still get into this sorta stuff with Hawkesy?

Wow that's nearly as impressive as their 39% possession over 4 games but not as impressive as this oneGod is an Englishman wrote:

England's most successful passing combination against Italy was the goalkeeper Joe Hart to the substitute striker Andy Carroll
Re: ENGLAND WILL WIN THE EUROS
Joe Hart completed more passes (45) than any other England player by virtue of playing a few five-yarders out to the defence and clumping the rest up to Carroll.predator wrote:Wow that's nearly as impressive as their 39% possession over 4 games but not as impressive as this oneGod is an Englishman wrote:

Andrea Pirlo held possession for a cumulative four and a half minutes over the course of the game – very nearly double Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard’s sum totals combined – completing 117/131 passes with a 87% success rate. England’s most completed ‘pass’ on the night was Joe Hart to Andy Carroll.

Re: ENGLAND WILL WIN THE EUROS
Still not going to stop the bringing in youth foreigners. Also, I'd imagine it would still be restraint of trade by the EU.ozzie owl wrote:What aboiut a rule where only four players can be selected who have not completed 5 years in a accredited FA academy. Re: ENGLAND WILL WIN THE EUROS
The answer lies in junior coaching development and such a rule is not restraint of trade as it is not resitrciting Euoro players, just forcing clubs to have players that have come through academies.
Yes young foregin players will come over but at the moment the clubs are mainly buying established overseas players. This system will slow down the number of established overseas players. However coaching standards and number of coaches needs to be lifted across England as well.

I agree with you that it needs to be done but I still believe this would constitute a restraint of trade under EU law. They have a law for anything and I can imagine cherie blair standing up and stating it contravenes some poor little italians human rights just because he wasn't brought up in manchester/london etc..
