Always happy to stay for a beer mate but your keeper made it quite obvious we all werent welcome in the club rooms after the match. Anyway, time to move on from that match, was nice to be the first team to put one past your keeper in the ressies all season, were with you for the first 60 minutes before it all fell apart!
None of the Blue Eagles have come out and denied the incident...so it must have happened......Absolutely disgusting......Time to move on? I don't think westies will move on anytime soon...karma will bite blue eagles
PONTIAN Eagles have ended a four game winless run with a 2-1 win over Elizabeth Grove at Dauntsey Rd.
Both sides came into the game searching for their first win since round one and it was Pontian who started the better taking the lead on 15 minutes when Novica Mimic collected the ball at the back post before making some room for himself and firing the visitors 1-0 up.
The lead was doubled on 25 minutes when a cross was only semi cleared and Mimic was on hand to finish from 18 yards and collect his 2nd brace in as many weeks.
Pontian were on top and when striker Anthony Matteo’s shot rattled the cross bar the Peckers were trying to hang on.
After the break Pontian continued their dominance but couldn’t put the home team away.
On 80 minutes Pontian won a penalty when Matteo was taken down in the box but Matteo’s spot kick was kept out by Anthony Hulls.
The Grove were sparked into life by substitute Nathan Pettit and when he whipped in a ball from out wide Lindsay Cooper’s shot was blocked by the keeper but Cooper reacted quickest to give the Peckers a life line.
It was a nervy last few minutes for Pontian who had given away a three goal lead the previous week but they held on to collect what may prove a vital three points at the end of the season.
Pontian coach George Kargiotis “We are showing at the start of games that we are switched on but we need to continue that into 2nd halves. I’m very pleased with the win”.
Elizabeth Groves Shane Ferdinand “The whole club is really disappointed with the result we push on to Elizabeth Vale next week”.
Allegations of a chair being thrown by a Pontian supporter/marshall could not be confirmed via the Footballnews forum but the Messenger has obtained an exclusive interview with the chair.
The chair, which is receiving treatment in a local hardware shop, said it was just trying to do its job by providing comfort for the big assess of the Pontian fans.
"Next thing I knew i was in the air. I didn't have time to react," it said.
"My lawyers have been informed. I won't comment further."
A spokesperson for the Chair Union says they are aware of the incident and won't comment until their investigation is completed.
Edited for accuracy.
What's that from?

A's 1-2
Great display from our guys today. Had lots of attacks but probably didn't turn that into enough shots on goal. We scored earlier with a well place shot by Coxy only to conceed a soft goal mintues later. Second half was much of the same with Inter keeping an organised defencel to keep us. A turnover by us saw Inter break free and a one on one with the keeper but it was well save. We went up the other end to attack in which an Inter miskick spun back towards the keeper who almost threw the ball into the net. One of the most bizarre goals you will see. With 5 to go, Inter attacked in numbers but couldn't quite get a equaliser. Inter won a corner and just as the Inter player was about to take the kick, he blew for time. Seemed a little crazy but he had played over time. Still, Inter had a fair reason to question wtf was going on. Overall it was a hard fought win.
B's 1-1
Tough game. Not going to say too much on it as it wasn't all that spectacular. A spanking goal by Inter put them in front. We levelled with about 10 to play. The referee didn't have his best day it was fair to say. To the Inter bloke who got sent off, feel hard done by mate because for everything else that happened on that day, there is no way you should of been sent for that. Our B's no lose some of the gap they had on the Downs but are still 3 points clear on top.
C2's V Raptors
The boys had a 3-1 win. Not sure who scored or played well.
35's V Para Hills East
4-2 win.
Women V Flinders 6-1
Another win for the girls.
Was interesting to watch the Inter V Seaford Div 1 girls match which played before the B's. Was quite impressed with the quality of play. Was annoying they ran 10 mins over time but still was interesting to see a higher Div match.
Thank you to Inter for their hospitality yesterday. Looking forward to hosting you guys soon.

Can I just confirm that re the Blue Eagles cheat goal... what was the score when this incident occurred, and at what stage of the game did this happen?

Score was 0-0 with about 20 minutes to go. Westies equalised in the last few minutes of the game.

I believe the score after 60 minutes was 4-0... if that is "with you" then i'd hate to see the score if you were being thumped at 60 minutes...

Very Generous Description,
Agreed re the Red Card (or was it two Red Cards ) absolute soft send off for nothing, yet the clear red card for the last man foul didnt even get a booking.

This is what I saw on the day. The captain passed the ball back, the sweeper didn't read the flight of ball at all and where it has flicked off his head into the path of our striker who eventually finished the ball...

so an obvious accidental touch by the sweeper then means it is "fair play" to go and score a goal while the opposition had no chance....still poor form. The striker should have just left it......but saying that did the referee stop the game or did westies kick the ball out? In my opinion there is too much of this teams kicking the ball out going on these days.....A referee should be the only one who stops a game...that's what the "drop ball" was invented for but you very rarely see 2 players contesting a drop ball these days

As sweeper I can assure you I was nowhere near the ball. It was one of our defenders who was back pedaling whilst under pressure from one of the strikers. He only just managed to get his head to it, but the striker then ran on to it and scored.
We put the ball out as a player was down injured - in all honesty, I don't think we would of been too fussed if blue eagles didn't give the ball back to us but the fact they clearly stated they were going to meant we didn't set up as we would normally would and they went through and scored. To say we were pissed off would be a massive understatement!!
