It's a catch 22....but, Where will it leave Australia after the qualifiers if we don't qualify? Eventually there will be a rebuild, but, I do believe we still have our best squad out there!! I'd love to see some of the younger players get a run but every time they have had a chance, they have failed to impress. Tommy Oar is a player I have heard is doing well, but, is he better than players we have there already? Breciano to me was finished with the socceroos but then he comes back and plays better than we've seen him in years......They are called the golden generation for a reason, and deserve to be there......I just hope we do blood more youngsters in any friendlies before 2014....but to be honest I can't see anything like a "2006 quality" side happening untill at least 2018, maybe even 2022.

I agree the 90% of the squad deserves to be there and yes in big qualifiers you have to stick with what you know but we just played a few friendlies and almost nothing else was tried. It sucks that a couple of players like Herd were injured because he probably would have played but I think players like Williams and Ruka need more game time especially in the friendlies, these kids need to start. Sure the WC is critical we have to qualify but I know there will be alot of dissappointed people out there is we just make up the numbers. There has to be some improvement shown. Hopefully with a couple of countries in the Euro doing better then expected, like Greece and Russia if they make the WC IMO these countries after one good tournament often bomb out of the next so hopefully we get an overrated Euro side in our group if we make it!
