We'll step aside and let your lot continue with 'Parker > Modric' and all that. Enjoy.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
Bow ties follows Liverpool. Liverpool is much further north than London. Just a fact.manU4life wrote:thank you.Bow Ties Are Cool wrote:Sorry, are we getting in the way?El Diego wrote:how did this become a scouser topic??????????

Re: Manchester United 2011/12

lets look at major trophies sha'll we
Highest/Top League in England is the English Premier League
Manchester United - 19
Liverpool - 18
Fa Cup decides the best footballing team in England involving all leagues
Manchester United - 11
Liverpool 7
Champions League/ European Cup is obviously the best European competition involving clubs from all leagues around Europe
Manchester United - 3
Liverpool - 5
So judging by MAJOR trophies, as things like league cups and europa/eufa cup etc are all a poor mans competition compared to the others, it looks like this
Manchester United - 33 major trophies
Liverpool - 30
Mmmmm

oh man, far far far too easyLe King wrote:Really?
lets look at major trophies sha'll we
Highest/Top League in England is the English Premier League
Manchester United - 19
Liverpool - 18
Fa Cup decides the best footballing team in England involving all leagues
Manchester United - 11
Liverpool 7
Champions League/ European Cup is obviously the best European competition involving clubs from all leagues around Europe
Manchester United - 3
Liverpool - 5
So judging by MAJOR trophies, as things like league cups and europa/eufa cup etc are all a poor mans competition compared to the others, it looks like this
Manchester United - 33 major trophies
Liverpool - 30
Mmmmm
are you really that defensive about your club's achievements? Chill out bro

Super Cups
League Cups
UEFA Cups
Cup Winners Cups (which LFC haven't won but UTD have)
they are all major.
I think that makes it 40 each?
But as we all know 18+5 > 19+3
And that is all that really matters.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
All LFC fans accepted years ago you would overtake us in the league, we are just amazed it took you so long. After-all we have been pretty average/poor for 20 years. Whereas you all think you have been the best team in the world for that time and yet you still took 21 years to overtake us.
We overtook Arsenal as the team that had the most championships, and you will be overtaken too, that's life.

MANCHESTER United have wrapped up the $30 million signing of Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers
The 19-year-old central defender has agreed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions and will sign when he returns from the European Under-21 Championship.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I'm looking forward to a new challenge," the Englishman wrote on his Twitter account.
Blackburn described the deal as a club record sale, which means it will eclipse the $27 million that Manchester City paid for striker Roque Santa Cruz two years ago.
Even before the transfer was announced, United striker Wayne Rooney described Jones as "one of the toughest defenders I played against last season".
Jones, who only played 40 times for Blackburn, will face stiff competition for a spot in central defence from Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling.
"Welcome to Phil Jones, another top young talent joining the club," Ferdinand said. "The future is bright."
Jones passed a medical examination last week before travelling with the England Under-21 squad to Denmark where he played Sunday in a 1-1 draw against Spain.
The signing reflects the importance manager Ferguson is placing on youngsters.
While United won a record 19th English title in May, the team were outclassed by Barcelona in the Champions League final.
Jones was one of four United players to feature against Spain, with Smalling, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley also in action for England.
And in the Spanish goal was David De Gea, the 20-year-old from Atletico Madrid who Ferguson said last month United were close to signing.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
Seems like a pretty good buy to me.
In the last two years i can remember separate occasions where Carrick/Evans and Wes Brown had to start when the good defenders were out.
With Smalling and Jones being prepped to step in you'd think they'll be a huge success.
Also with Brown/Evans and O`shea leaving, it looks like Man U are only left with quality at the back.

It depends if you're talking actual matches, or just highlight reels. He's pretty talented according to the highlights for sure!

Seen highlights aswell and about 3 games, seems a pretty decent keeper
Fergie and Gill were looking for a player with the same attributes as VDS and he fit the bill
Could be an amazing signing if he lives up to his potential
Re: Manchester United 2011/12
At such a young age, one mistake could fuck his career. Young 'keepers are always a risk.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
yep... older, more experienced keepers have been swallowed up by the pressure playing for United. Huge risk this one.

haha exactly. His technique was really good though (De Gea not Owusu lol), and that's always a good sign that he'll do the 1% stuff all game.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
Manchester United have announced the signing of England international Ashley Young from Aston Villa.
United have long been expected to tie up a deal for Young, who had expressed a desire to play Champions League football, and the 25-year-old has now completed the move after the clubs agreed a fee reported to be between £15 million and £20 million.
A statement on Manchester United's official website read: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Aston Villa for the transfer of Ashley Young. The player passed a medical in Manchester this week and has agreed a five-year contract."
Young added on MUTV: "The opportunity to come and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world is one I couldn't turn down. It's a chance to hopefully become part of their history by helping to win the 20th title.
"It's a prospect I always looked at from being a child: to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. I've got that opportunity now so I've just got to take it with two hands."
Young, though, admits he faces a tough prospect to become a first-choice winger where he is set to compete with the likes of Antonio Valencia, Nani and Park Ji-sung.
''There's a lot of competition for places at the club,'' he said. ''If you are in the team there is always going to be someone biting away at your heels trying to get in.
''I'm going to be coming in looking to establish myself in the team. I know it is going to be a challenge, but I'm up for that challenge. It is a fantastic team. The club always produces fantastic players. They have that winning mentality. I hope to be a part of that this season. I can't wait to get started.''
New Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish was already resigned to losing Young as his contract was set to expire next summer, and he has passed on his best wishes to the player.
"Ashley has made a terrific contribution for Villa in the last four-and-a-half seasons and everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future," McLeish said. "He has become an important player in the England team during that time and I am sure he will be looking forward to this new challenge."
Young signed for Villa from Watford in January 2007 for an eventual fee of £10 million and scored 38 goals in 190 appearances. Watford are apparently due to receive 15% of the sell-on fee Villa have received as part of the original agreement.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
So how does that work with Young?
You've got Nani Valencia and Young. Are any of them leaving, or is Nani simply going to become a backup? Valencia and Young seem like very similar players.
Any Mancs know? I don't see how he's anything but some added depth at best.

Re: Manchester United 2011/12
competition for sports is always healthy but i wouldnt be suprised if nani leaves but id only see that happening if we pull a rabbit out of the hat and maybe get schneider. i dont mind the idea of valencia playing as a right fullback on occasions
