Hawks won 3-0 over the Southern Breakers so I guess this division is underway

The SAASL have put the above result on the website but they put it up on the wrong date (ie. the Breakers' home tie in round two when in fact it was the Hawks' home tie in round 11).

Warning for all clubs playing in this division - all Torrens Valley home fixtures are kicking off at 3:00pm and not the usual 11:30am. I just noticed this on the SAASL site when double-checking the location of their ground for this weekend.

I had considered watching Modbury Jets on the way back but I guess that's not going to happen. Will we get an offical referee since it's a 3:00pm kick off? :D

Got a phone call from Bill Bailey earlier today saying that Flinders Uni will not be fielding a team this year in Div. 6.
So if any team wants a friendly at our ground this Saturday send me a message please.

Yeah sorry about the late notice on this we tried very hard to make sure we would be able to compete in this division again this year, but were a few players short of being able to put out a full side each week. We decided in the end that it was better that Div 6 ended up with only one bye as has Div 4B.

Good luck to all the teams this year!

In Div 4 reserves there is a bye every week as well.

Perhaps when you have a bye contact that team in div4 with a bye and arrange a friendly.

Well Monarchs finally kicked off their season Mt Barker. Given we only fielded 10 players with 1 carrying an injurying I thought a 5-0 lost wasn't too bad. I was impressed how we kept Mt Barker to 1-0 in the 2nd half. It is going to be a long season but thank god we are going to be drunk for it. FIRE FARKEN UP MONARCHS C.

Considering we only had 10 men to start off...followed with 9 after half time and taken into fact C team only got together 3 weeks ago, all things considered it wasn't too bad. I am not stoked about the result but not exactly throwing chairs as well.

It's a learning process but with each step we are improving and pushing hard.

I heard Flinders have reentered the team that pulled out two weeks ago. What happens with last week's fixture against Southern Breakers? Will that get rescheduled or does it go down as a forfeit. Pending that and a Flinders result from today the table looks like this:

Code: Select all

                   P W D L F A Pts
MA HAWKS 4 4 - - 13 0 12
OLD IGNATIANS 3 2 - 1 15 3 6
TORRENS VALLEY 2 2 - - 10 2 6
ADELAIDE COMETS 2 2 - - 4 0 6
MOUNT BARKER 3 1 - 2 5 10 3
ADELAIDE VIPERS 2 - - 2 0 5 -
MONARCHS 1 - - 1 0 5 -
SOUTHERN BREAKERS 2 - - 2 0 9 -
FC ADELAIDE 3 - - 3 0 12 -
FLINDERS UNI -

MA Hawkes v Vipers 3:0....

Hawkes are a very good side as their position on the ladder shows.
Vipers in Div 6 this year are very young with a couple of us geriatrics too add experience.

We held them to 1-0 (A very bouncy ball or uneven pitch that fooled the keeper)for 3/4 of the game until a penalty for a backpass was given and a quality free kick took the score to 2-0.

After holding on for so long and competeing well that goal knocked the wind out of the boys sails, a 3rd quality finish from about 18-20 yds out sealed the Victory for the Hawkes.

A very good side to play, hard but not dirty......The young Vipers will be much better for the effort of having played Comets and Hawkes in
the first 2 rounds and have improved since that first whistle in round 1.

You are correct Flinders are back in the league. I reckon they should reschedule the games during say Cup rounds but who knows with the league. I mean we only got told Thursday night and confirmed Friday that Flinders were back in.

Flinders 9 - Monarchs 1.

Monarchs 1 Flinders 9 added.

It's only the one game that Flinders need to catch up. It can't be done in cup rounds as there is division six games scheduled for these weeks. There is one saturday in august with no rounds so it could probably be played then.

Code: Select all

                    P W D L F A Pts
MA HAWKS 4 4 - - 13 0 12

TORRENS VALLEY 2 2 - - 10 2 6
ADELAIDE COMETS 2 2 - - 4 0 6
FLINDERS UNI 1 1 - - 9 1 3
MOUNT BARKER 3 1 - 2 5 10 3
ADELAIDE VIPERS 2 - - 2 0 5 -
SOUTHERN BREAKERS 2 - - 2 0 9 -
FC ADELAIDE 3 - - 3 0 12 -
MONARCHS 2 - - 2 1 14 -

 Maybe Southern Breakers and Flinders can ask to play their catchup game as a curtainraiser for Wednesday night's game ? Dont ask,you dont know. Might be a bit early for them,I think the pitch has to be vacated at least 30 minutes prior to kick off of the main game - they would have to start around 5pm

Now that would be nice!!!
Not that bothered really, but isn't the Breakers v Flinders game a forfeit win to Breakers due to them not having players or being unavailable on that day when we were?
Also we have rescheduled this weeks Vipers game to the cup round in August due to their pitch only being available at 3pm and most of our players want to go watch our A's play

The SAASL website lists it as an unplayed match at this stage, but then again last weekend's results haven't been posted so perhaps they haven't got around to updating it yet.

From my understanding at that stage Flinders actually pulled out of the league. Flinders only re-entered the league last Friday 7th May. No idea how the league will call it.
