Carragher- one of the best center halves on his gen - getting on a bit, Skrtel is probably better
Agger- class
kelly- englands future rb
Lucas- Brazils number 5, has turned into a fine cdm
Gerrard- Can't say anything bad about him really. One of the best players to have ever pulled on a red shirt
Meireles - Has shown that on his day he can't be stopped
Dirk kuyt- Terrible first touch, brilliant work rate. a solid option upfront and a makeshift winger.
Maxi- Technically a really gifted player, tactically and physically he can be a bit useless. since you've listed 12 players, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the inclusion of this idiot was just a mistake
Suarez - Class
Carrol - unproven for a top club but will prove he is worth the price tag.

Cole, Skrtel, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Pacheco(one for the future)

This squad even missing a few players is good enough to finish in the top 4. Your only kidding yourself if you think otherwise

Chaos your clueless mate, i'd take that result again and again. Back to anfield now for a second leg infront of the Kop. N'gog needs to shape up if he wants to be retained, ref was very harsh on him though.
And Joe Cole would be in their best 11 if he ever rediscovers some form.

Read my comment again. I didnt say it was a bad result, just said the game was garbage kid.
My comments were against carragher and kenny. In the post match conference both mentioned men stated how they will score at home. But with no Suarez allowed, Carroll injured and Kuyt out of form. Who's gonna score the goals :?:

That was hardly their first 11 though was it? Kind of proves me right that their problem is squad depth, although Kenny seems to have understood this and is improving it.

The bench is nowhere near good enough.

Playing defensive with 5 at the back is a good way to make top four though as long as your strikers and attacking mid is good enough ( which they are now with Suarez, Caroll, and mereiles/gerrard).

I think they have the right tactics for the players they have, their weakness is the defense, and he's supplemented that by adding 1 more defender.

They remind of an Italian team at the moment. They hold possession, and just wait and wait for a mistake.

I think what Kenny has done has been excellent, and i think unless Liverpool throw some money at a world class defender, or midfielder, they will have to rely on this defensive mentality to win them games still.

They're relying on Mereiles too heavily, but still if any team lost it's entire forward line the backups wouldn't be good enough to carry them either ( except maybe Man City).

raul meireles seems to be able to manage ok.
N'gog has scored a few int he europa league this year. Kuyt has been decent when played upfront this season. its just when hes shoved outwide he struggles. His hold up play is only second to carrol in our squad. Suarez is more of a deep lying forward. The game was boring but it was a europa league clash, what do you expect? Why push our players in a game that will be determined by us back in england.

yes but Raul is not a striker. The lack of a focal point upfront is a problem.

-----

anyway, immense traffic on this topic from non-liverpool supporters....imagine if we lost a game, think the servers would go into meltdown!

ps, don't you have topics of your own, maybe you can bump them from page 4,5 or 6 of the forum.....

Carrol and kuyt can play that role. Im sure Carrol will be great.

@el: Have you actually watched agger play? Bow ties are cool is not retarded the guy can play, if he wasnt injured so often he would be recognised as one of the best center backs in the world.

El Capitano speaks absolute bollocks about 95% of the time. He watches two Liverpool games a year and thinks he has enough knowledge to base opinions on our players. I'd disregard absolutely everything that he posts tbh.

Fine, if it means so much to you...

I would in fact be recognised as the best centre half in the world had injuries not halted my progress.

Happy now? I'm blushing.

I don't know about that. I think Beckenbauer was at a similar level.

Hammers put out a quality side for a club in the bottom 3.
Fair play to them, they deserved it.
Parker's goal wasnt only a sublime finish, but great leadup play with 3 one-two's.

We were too deep and left Kuyt and Suarez with no support.
Missed Agger at the back, needed his ability to work the ball out.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard out of Braga match

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been ruled out of the Europa League last-16 first-leg tie against Braga in Portugal on Thursday night.

Gerrard's absence was announced on the Liverpool website but the club did not give a reason for his omission.

The midfielder has been troubled by a groin injury lately, but played the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

Striker Andy Carroll is set to feature after making his debut at the weekend.

The 22-year-old, who had been out for two months with a thigh injury, was involved for the Reds for the first time when he came on as a 74th-minute substitute in the win over United.

"He'll play some more minutes against Braga and hopefully he'll be involved more and more," said Liverpool's head of sports medicine Peter Brukner.

The tendon tear that kept the England forward out of action at the start of 2011 proved more serious than originally thought.

Former club Newcastle sent Carroll to Dubai in the hope that a warm-weather break would speed his recovery and had planned a trip to a tendon specialist in Sweden before selling him on transfer deadline day.

Despite losing main striker Fernando Torres to Chelsea on the same day as Carroll's arrival, Brukner insists Liverpool were right to take their time over their £35m record signing's comeback.

"It has been a long process rehabilitating him - about eight or nine weeks - but we are happy with the result," added Brukner.

"He spent the first couple of weeks in the gym and on the treatment table. Then we were able to get him outside and start him running. Gradually we introduced him to ball drills.

"He had full training last week and had his 16 minutes on Sunday.

"Unless anything goes wrong between now and Thursday, we'll expect him to play for a longer period of time.

"Overall, we are really happy with his progress."

Gateshead-born Carroll made his senior debut for Newcastle in the 2006-07 Uefa Cup, appearing as a late substitute against Palermo.
