Fees at clubs

Post by Raiders »

Some clubs say their fees are low but then have 18 players in a team
then other clubs charge more and have 13 players in a team.
How many players are in your team and what is the fee. :?:

$780 + the compulsory track suits Polo shirts etc which takes it to about $1000 or so if you are new to the club

Which brings me back to the comments I suggsted under "Numbers at trials " as a topic.
Should we be charging this amount of money for kids to play football? Are we getting a bang for our buck? Is the standard of coaching up to stratch? Are our coaches continually being educated?

If you can set up a club and do it cheaper than around $25 per week then by all means go for it champ.
Time for some righteous indignation

Fees to my academy depend on various criteria. Around $15 per session on average. Sometimes we even work free of charge. We laid on a coach session last holiday free of charge.

And a club works out to approx $5-$10 a session ...........

So I ask you, "Should we be charging this amount of money for kids to attend an academy ? Are we getting a bang for our buck? Is the standard of coaching up to stratch? Are theirr coaches continually being educated?"

At the end of the day, we coaches in Australia (club or academy) are very under resourced, voluntary (well, most club coaches anyway) and our knowledge is no where near to that over in Europe, I wont even mention South America.
A 2 or 3 day course with the FFSA (with no disrespect to them intended) is not going to teach us eveything we need to know, not even close, we must strive to teach ourselves through other channels and means .......

So as coaches, we need to continually LEARN, improve, and once we have committed to a coaching position, be in it for the 'right reason', and give it 100% commitment.

As coaches, we can not sit back and say "I know everything, I'm not listening to what he says, I know what I'm doing" ..... we must continually strive to learn and improve, and be passionate about what we are doing, to give the kids we are coaching the best opportunity possible to become better players

Finally, its not about us, its not about the parents, its about the KIDS !!

Amen, thanks for coming .........

We agree with your comments below. My original postings has nothing to with academies costings. You are not comparing apples with apples. All my coaches are senior qualified. So what you mention below makes perfect sense.

Senior qualified ..... so they've done the 4 day FFSA course ? Which has no relevance to the development and coaching kids ?

Are they coaching at clubs voluntarily also ?

I went back into the other topic to see where you were coming from .... And I can see your point

Obviously things have happened at Cumberland and Metro (not sure if you've been involved somewhere else) and now you're thinking of setting up a junior club of your own, under the academy banner, with highly qualified (I'm assuming 'recently' highly qualified) coaches

Not sure where or what you can promise to the kids you sign up, because I doubt that you'll be producing players for Barcelona or Man Utd

Obviously you'll also be charging $$$$, and having trials, and then expect $$$$ in return if the kids move to a local club, how I don't know ....

Until we have professional clubs, run full time by paid staff, training and then playing each other, we can never compare with what is done overseas
As amateur clubs run by volunteers, we can just do the best we can, keep improving as alot of us are, and try the best we can to be better with developing kids then what we have I'm the past

I have no intention of starting any club. As mentioned before my comments had nothing to do with my academy. My comments have been based on what happens with all clubs here in SA. With most of your responses you agree with me. Enough said.
