You Elizabeth Downs guys must be on lots of crack. You want people from other clubs to come and give you money to recover $50,000 you lost but you are still throwing around huge $$$ to pay players.
I'm an accountant so maybe you guys can't work this out so I'll spell it out. Cut down on the amount you pay players and then you can recover the money you lost. I feel sorry for you guys as it would be a kick in the guts to any club but the hypocrisy here is stupid.

So what if you are an accountant. We have accountants on our committee as well. Im terribly sorry but we had one of our members whom was concered, speak to their friends whom are all in bands and the bands are donating their time for the day. Would your club say- sorry we dont want to take you up on your offer to give our members/the community a good day out? We always invite the outside football community and local community to all of our Functions/ fundraiser (Pink Day ect) perhaps we should stop raising that money for the charities as well. This day is also a great way to reward all our members whom have helped over the last few months- including all the numerous donations we recieved. Maybe you should come to one of our club functions to see how they are run- may get a few ideas for your club. We have another show night back by popular demand the Week after the back in black day. $20 a ticket if your keen.
Our club will be fine and continue kicking on- specially for our 50th year. As most people know- the reason we are not in the black is NOT because we spend all the money on players- infact most if not all of the players donated their payments back for the last part of the year. But it was becuase some knob decided that our club was a lucky dip hole on a money tree.
Your ignorace as an accountant is insulting to all those who have worked hard since late august to rebuild the club. If you dont want to come- dont. If you do, come down, have a beer, and enjoy a good day out. BTW from what we have heard lots of the people coming are actually supprters/groupies of the bands.

Ill principe alias ill informed
As for attacking the man and not the ball, the EDSC has its sights set firmly on 2012 being its 50th year. 2012 will be no different to any other year at our club, with our senior teams striving to obtain the ultimate prize in any division they compete.
Yes in 2011 we didn't deliver as we had hoped, and were left with a substantial debt due to an individuals innapropriate actions, (something we would not wish upon our absolute worst enemy). Over the course of the last few months we as a club certainly know where our strengths lie and 2012 will be a year to remember. We expect our spectator base to be similar to this years, thus providing the revenue to field our teams as we have done every year whilst repaying the accrued debt with our creditors over a period of time.
Da Vinci Code and Ilprincipe, please avail yourselves of the invitation to come to Argana Park and see for yourselves the efforts and the support, a Div 1 Amateur side gets on match days.

As I read this advert the Downs were putting ona show to thank everyone for their support through the hard grafting of being robbed by one of their own. I'm not sure why you have a problem with the club, or their players for that matter. Obviously the club has started it's road to recovery and wanted everyone to see how it has bonded together through the hardship of one of the biggest controversies in modern SAASL history.Davinci Code wrote:You Elizabeth Downs guys must be on lots of crack. I'd say it to raise money more so than thanking people for their support. Good luck to them, terrible thing to have happen.Outlaw 2.0 wrote:SteveHawknsFootyBoot wrote:The Elizabeth Downs Soccer Club would like to thank the South Australian Soccer Community for their best wishes over the past 3 months.

Hey Guys
I'm a musician donating my time on the day.
I know a quite a few of the downs crew..... but most of the bands members wouldn't know people at the club at all.
They did not hesitate to offer their services after hearing the Downs plight.
Also, a lot of people from my local (Div 4)football club are coming to help support the day.
BTW... My band is looking for a good accountant with common sense....so to Davinci Code....you don't happen to know any do ya?

The Downs were thanking everyone for their wishes and support and the invitation was to come party on a Sunday afternoon. I suppose the club that you are involved with has never advertised on here about any fundraiser?
The huge $'s (sorry $$$) that you are talking about....can you confirm this?
As you have stated you are an accountant, well Poindexter I suggest you get your hand off your digit and stick to submitting dodgey tax returns.
On a lighter note...It should be a cracking day.

So you say thanks to people by charging them $5 to get in.
No point talking to brick walls. Good luck with your fundraiser.
