The health of clubs
Now I know many may consider this an attack at some clubs, however, does the FFSA want to see the closure of some clubs?
Should the FFSA make a rule that clubs can only submit x amount of teams per age group or does the FFSA consider one folds, another joins, who cares.
Don't get me wrong, every club wants the best for their club, and so they should, however, what is best for the league, clubs disappearing or keeping these clubs around?
Is it good planning to allow a club 2/3 or 4 JSL teams playing for nothing, while a club down the road or in the next suburb/zone fold because they can't even get the numbers for a JPL team.
Again do we care or that's just too bad for that club see ya later?

Re: The health of clubs
I thought half the reason they limited JPL entries was to spread the talent more evenly. If clubs cannot field quota of JPL teams at the very least, then those clubs simply arent doing enough to be worthy of inclusion to the FFSA anyway.

Sounds like you want the FFSA to bring in regulation in the form of protectionism; something like Governments to to protect poor performing industries/companies.
Regulation solves nothing, just prolongs the misery.
Clubs need to find the problem and put in a process to fix the problems and alleviate the customers concerns. Yes the FFA and FFSA can help, but they must not and should not start dictating how many players/teams a club can have.
Negotiation is a better long term solution; maybe bring in the successful clubs and find out what they are doing differently.

Re: The health of clubs
I agree you are right, a club must sell itself no question.
This is just a general thought, I see clubs screaming for players while others have 2-3-4 teams.
I get kids wanna play with mates etc, however, some of these kids have it in their minds they will work hard to attempt to break out of a JSL into the JPL, when a JPL spot for them might be around the corner or down the road.
So what is stopping these kids from going to have a look at that possible JPL spot?

Big fiasco in 15s and 16s JSL this year if memory serves me right with some teams having to join in the JPL leage because not enough teams to make a comp in JSL.
So how many JSL teams will there be in 2012 even less than this year I'll bet. Have heard couple of clubs not putting in JSL teams at all. Will there be enough for a competition in every age group. FFSA might have to go back to ABCD leages again next season.
Re: The health of clubs
There may be a problem, but what is the problem? Making decisions on a guess or a theory is not the way to go, it may cause more problems.
Not all clubs are having issues with numbers, some have decided not to field extra teams, some don't have the resources or coaches, and others are filling all age groups in JSP and JPL.
Why not get all the clubs together and ask their Committees? Better still; find out what the clubs that have fielded all teams are doing.
Couple of ideas:
Loyalty - look after your players/members.
Communication - tell everyone what's going on at the place and the Federations.
Development - keep everyone informed.
Coaches - help them to develop.
Behavior - try and stamp out poor behaviour from players, parents, coaches and members.
Junior/Senior teams - show that players have the opportunity to move up.
Etc, etc.

Exactly, if a Club can't attract Kids ask yourself why. Dont look for easy solutions.johnydep wrote:Sounds like you want the FFSA to bring in regulation in the form of protectionism; something like Governments to to protect poor performing industries/companies.

Why can a neighbouring Club attract Kids when another cant?...look at the reasons behind that and you're on the way to
solving the "problem".
Some have worked it out already.
Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

Re: The health of clubs
Still there, just a different role. Couple of role changes & introduction of Football Co-ordinators roles to assist Coaches and player development, make sure things get done smoothly. Milan Ivanovic is the Technical Director working with Juniors and Seniors.Željko Jurin wrote:Johny, whats happened to Brian, the Croydon TD ?
