Re: Preseason Training
Adelaide Titans FC will be conducting 1 hour fitness sessions every Thursday at 6.30pm commencing on 3 November 2011. Meet at Collins Reserve, Valetta Road, Kidman Park and go from there.
These sessions are optional and are not part of the official preseason training which is likely to commence in January 2012. The sessions will focus on running and strength activities.
If you are interested in playing for the Club next season and want to help get in shape ready for preseason, please come along. Feel free to let others who may be interested know also.

Re: Preseason Training
More than welcome Jay.
However, I think alot of the sessions we see us congregate there and run along the river.
Other sessions will be held in the park. Dont want to step on Fulham Cricket Club and Fulham Soccer Club's toes!!!

Vipers usually start their kick around mid November on Wednesdays.....Can't come soon enough for me and my gut
Re: Preseason Training
you would be better off not holding any sessions. any kind of training without the ball is no training at all. they should be trained to be players, not athletes. leave it until next year, then do sessions where every exercise invovles the ball, make them short, but intense to mirror match conditions, and slowly build their stamina by making the sessions quicker.wombat wrote:Adelaide Titans FC will be conducting 1 hour fitness sessions every Thursday at 6.30pm commencing on 3 November 2011. im not having a go at yourself or the club wombat, this is a suggestion to help improve the quality of players. if you want the guys to keep somewhat fit during the off season, just take a couple of balls to the park, put down some towels as goals, and play a small sided game. theyll still do the running, itll just be fun, and theyll be getting touches on the ball.
Re: Preseason Training
Ingle Farm have started their Thursday Night kick-arounds. A lot of our players use these games to keep a certain level of fitness.
Anyone can come for a kick from 7pm, they play these games every Thursday Night until pre season starts in late January.
If anyone wants to join in just rock up at just before 7pm, chuck your boots on and join in.

Re: Preseason Training
What good is having the ball when you don't have a base of fitness in order to run out a game? Fitness is just as important as ball workFitz wrote:you would be better off not holding any sessions. any kind of training without the ball is no training at all. they should be trained to be players, not athletes. leave it until next year, then do sessions where every exercise invovles the ball, make them short, but intense to mirror match conditions, and slowly build their stamina by making the sessions quicker.wombat wrote:Adelaide Titans FC will be conducting 1 hour fitness sessions every Thursday at 6.30pm commencing on 3 November 2011. Yeah, but they don't just rock up and play 5-side. They do a lot of high intensity ball movement drills.Franco UnAmerican wrote: Read it again and you will find your answer.

Re: Preseason Training
I didn't say they did (rock up and play 5 a side), Fitz mentioned this ^ in his post and I said I agreed 100%. :?BlackBrian_7 wrote:Yeah, but they don't just rock up and play 5-side. The inverse applies too.....use a ball wherever possible...DOC wrote:What good is having the ball when you don't have a base of fitness in order to run out a game? Fitness is just as important as ball work

Agree with Franco the UnAmericain. How can players in the Amateur leagues start in bloody November? When does the season start, after Easter? Are they trying to outdo the FFSA or A-League for the longest pre-season in the World?
What about enjoying those sctratch games now that Franco mentions, or 7-a-side or Futsal fun, then start after New Year with a month of torture, followed by friendly practice games in Feb/March?

That is the stupidest quote I've heard for some time. Old fellas kicking about play the game currently 'to keep fit', and for enjoyment.Outlaw 2.0 wrote:Someone once told me:

Play the damn game properly, and you will get fit. Its all about the way you tailor your pre season. If any coach tells me to do a beach run I basically tell them to get cab'd. No benefit whatsoever. However, a session of beach football is different entirely.
Wonder why the Roar are at a higher level of fitness than any other team in the A-League? They do periodisation pre-season, which involves exactly what I mentioned above. They arent busting their butts for 2.5 hours, their sessions are short, incredibly intense (more intense than games) so they run the game out well. Barcelona had their players coming back from holidays around 3 weeks from the start of the season, as they knew that the rest is more beneficial in the long term. Their players were still quite fit come the start of the season, as the follow the periodisation techniques.
Also, not only does periodisation increase the level of football fitness, it decreases the chances of injury, as you arent overloading or overworking tired muscles.
