Trimmers

Post by East Boy »

So how does everyone think he will go next year at the downs?
No doubt he will be a massive inclusion in their team but yet another quality player into div1. Great to see

It's 100% true Alan mottrom announced it at presentation night on Saturday. Another quality signing for the club and without a doubt will be the biggest signing by any club in 2012. He's an out and out goal scorer and I'm glad I'm the only goalkeeper not having to pick his goals out of the back of the net :D :D .

Downs are trying to recruit everyone at the moment

Trimmers is a great pick up for them. Pretty sure it was Lachy who said to me that he has the best goal instinct of any player he has played with and against.

Excellent news the league needs a strong Downs.

However lets try not to get too far ahead of ourselves again. We heard all this crap last year about all the great Downs signings pre-season like Nathan Day and Bert Fuda (weren't they the answer?) and lets be honest goal scoring options were not really the problem for the Downs last year, I would have thought the problem was more the frequency with which the Downs Lad was picking the ball out of his own net was the real problem - hopefully a few defenders are on the wish list too.

Any truth to Nathan Day going to Inter rumour?

Downs were the 6th placed scoring team and 5th at conceeding.

Not sure you have a point there You Too.

Day is staying at Downs.

Without disrespecting our strikers without Nathan scoring 16 goals in both league and cup we might of finished lower than 5th and also without blowing my own trumpet after 12 rounds we had only conceded 6 goals so the only down full defensively was we conceded to many goal in the last 6 games.

I'm not wanting to disrespect anyone and it would be good to get this forum back to a half intelligent debate / discussion where people can express a legitimate reasonable opinion without fear of being abused and derailed by the lunatic fringe.

The point I was trying to make in my last post was that last year the Downs had plenty by way of quality striker options (note the word "options" Jay). So I concluded that better quality supply to those strikers was a higher priority than more strikers. Unless of course the plan is - if you score three we'll score five.

you may have quality strikers like Luke Air, Day and Brooksey in one team, if Trimmers wants to play for ya you still sign him.

Its fantastic to see big name players from the feds playing in the SAASL.

there are better suppliers at the downs. Inter would struggle to keep up....

It will be interesting to see how day links up with trimmers. Did they play at jets together or did they just miss each other?? Either way trimmers will score a hat full. He and brooksy are surely known as two of the best finishers/poachers from feds. Its magic to have all this talent in the league.

Just another old hack taking $600 a week of amateur league money.

That money should be going on the bar for the club players for food and drinks

Trimmers is quality and will score plenty. Will be hard to defend and play against him but as a player you want to play against the best and trimmers has proven over the years he is one of the best strikers in SA. Motts seems to be assembling another good squad but wether they can play as a team only time will tell. Bring on season 2012 and hopefully more quality signings for sunday div 1!

Old hacks as you call them bring skill and knowledge to a club that they pass on to other players...

they bring spectators to games that spend money at the bar and canteen so its win win for all.

its the same reason Melbourne now have Harry !!!

The amateur league has the money so why not :P

Players like Trimmers, Brooksy, Pauly, Azza improve the league as a whole, good stuff really.

where do clubs get this sort of money to pay one or two players, add on wages for another 14 players in the squad and thats a wage bill of $40-50K for the year. Must have some bloody big cash cows.

Money for players doesn't always come out of "Club" generated money...sometime certain members or Sponsors may come forward to help the Club achieve its goals !
