To the big lad in the middle(Ben) well done on ya medal. thankyou to all my players on their effort this season..keep ya heads up we are the champions after all. and to the downs club in general( gordy, steedy. motts, legga and co) dont matter what happens off the field.. you are still the downs which is what we love to hate.... RESPECT.... mal thomas
Thanks for yesterday Mal, and thanks for coming in to the change rooms. Regardless of what banter goes on between the two clubs, I know the respect that the Downs holds for everyone at the gardens, and you and your guys did nothing to lessen that yesterday. The way you have performed all season gives teams like us something to aspire to next year, and if we can emulate the success of Parafield Gardens in years to come then I personally will be more than happy.
I hope everyone at PG enjoys their presentation night, and end of season trips... and also their off season. I hope that we can come back stronger next year and hopefully push you in the league as well as the cup... look forward to our encounters next year.

Well, mad Monday's been and gone, few people resting sore heads (definitely Dave Westell)
First all Congrats to all involved a Parafield Gardens, ounce again you have set a benchmark that all clubs should aspire to reach.
It was a hard fought scrappy kinda game with a few silky moments.
I still cant believe that the gardens defender was not sent of in the first 15 mins with a tackle on Mark Burbidge, oh well.
Stamm pulled off a few heartbreak saves in the last 10 and then Brooksy's finish sealed the deal for gardens. Look forward to the battles next yr and when grdens can finally get knocked off

Had a chat with Grothy on the field and we was saying tht Johno didnt tackle him from behind and came in from the blind side, Mark cut back across and both tangled. Know you can have 100 diff opinions on any subject right or wrong depending which team you follow, I think there was a cppl decisions during the game tht both teams can shake there head at and go wtf!!!
Congrats to the Vale for getting to the final, well done to our boys for not accepting defeat as an option and proving tht again this year Parafield Gardens are very worthy CHAMPIONS
Was definately quiet by the Gardens faithful until about 86 mins when they actually scored. We had our chances and Stammy pulled out 2 amazing stops to save them, we gave Brooksy half a yard too much and he punished us and the rest is history. Congratulations to Steve Cook and Mick and all the hard working people at Gardens.

Probably not singing as loud as Mr Pudler is....his celebration was hilarious like he had never won anything before

Yeah a difference of opinion, regardless good finish
Play of the day award went to Mr Hotka in the east stand during the second half of the seniors game - dancing whilst stripped down to the wobbly bits waving the +/35s cup and Vale flag

Have just managed to walk straight today after a huge day on Sunday and a huge arvo on the piss, must say as a Gully boy that I was dissapointed to lose on Sunday but had a fantastic day after having a fantastic year.. My kids and those kids of my team mates were stoked to walk on to Hindmarsh with their dads, we gave it everything and just couldn't put the ball away early. Yes Pudler was singing loud ( and talking loud to the kids in the race ) sang loud in the pub after and enjoyed the win. Good on him. We all had a laugh about it and sang back to the Vale guys (Championees) I thought the game was played in good spirits all over the field (as it should in O35's) was competitive and some good passages of play throughout. Looking forward to future battles with a quality side and some quality players.
Life moves pretty fast, if you dont stop and look around once in a while, you just might miss it !

Quality is a big call ......its not quality nor is it quantity in the 35's .....
Up on the gold coast for 2 weeks and last friday I saw Old Redback necking a few pints in Burleigh heads then saw him in the Downs ressies champions photo then saw him 10 minutes ago necking some more pints in Burleigh and it's only 9 am. So I think that this shows that the Downs were very keen to get something out of the season for the man to fly back for the match

It was an awesome effort by Old Redback... flew back sat night for the game and then got on a plane at 5:30pm to head back to the gold coast... just goes to show how much dedication there is at the club....

Was a great day Sunday well done to the SAASL in organising our signature event of the season & to the refs for their efforts.
Congratulations to all the winners Modbury Vista (colts), Eliz Vale (35's) & Eliz Downs (B's) who as a club certainly deserved something from the season & commiseration to all the other teams. The other winners on the day were the kids that paraded with the players wearing their "keep violence out of football" shirts which they got to keep. The kids loved it & all clubs should in future get involved.
The big winner of course was the Gardens first team winning back to back League & Cup doubles the club is very proud of its achievements & thank the coaching staff, players & people behind the scenes who have all worked very hard this season.
On behalf of the Gardens thankyou to all that have passed on their words of congratulations its great to see the respect shown amongst clubs. Look forward to next season with all the friendly banter that goes with it.
Cheers!
Mick
