Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
Congratulations to a wonderful team of girls who signed off their 2011 season yesterday with a win and the Championship.
Most of these girls have been together for 4 years and have been a vibrant, talented, fair and enthusiastic group who deserve the success they have worked hard for.
Sadly, with advanced studies beckoning and no senor team on offer at ABE to entice them to stay together, the majority of the side are hanging up their boots rather than start again at different clubs. The importance of year 11 and 12 also has played on the minds of many, and it seems likely some very talented young players will be lost to the game.
It has been a pleasure to be involved in the sport with them all, enjoying football with them in an environment of fun, keen learning and above all integrity in every way. This includes the list of past players who have been their teammates and departed since 2008.
I wish them all every success in their futures, and hope they return to the game one day.

Re: Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
Congratulations to ABE U17s on winning the league this year. You were worthy, certainly fair and well deserved winners. Everyone involved with Cumberland U17s definitely enjoyed our rivalry this season. The 1st round cup game, certainly needed the Cumby girls to play their absolute best to force the game into extra time and eventually get a result.
It'll be a shame, if some of the talented young players in the ABE squad are lost to the game.

Re: Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
would be a real shame to lose so many talented players to the game.
Girls, there are social teams out there that only train once a week, and would be understanding of your school committments, that I'm sure would be very excited to get some new talented players in their sides. I encourage you to get in touch with some of the clubs and see what they have to offer.

Re: Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
Why don't ABE put together a senior team if they can retain a number of their players?
They may also get girls moving there from other clubs that previously were too old to play juniors.

Club already has 3 junior girls sides and have decided do not have the space or resources to run a fourth senior team.

I'm assuming the club doesn't want to have a senior team instead of an under 17 team?

Too bad for those girls that the club has decided to go with what's easiest.

why have teams at all if your not going to offer them the opportunity to play at the highest level

Re: Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
^^
disgraceful is a bit harsh, unfortunate maybe.
people are wondering where the depth for the new 'elite' structure FFSA are putting in place will come from, well, here is a good example. If these players (who obviously have a good skill level) want to continue playing they will have to join another club. If they want to progress and play at a higher level, there are clubs looking to build depth and competition in their 1st and reserves teams so they can maintain their position in the 'elite' structure, and if they want to cut back their committments and just have a kick around for a couple of years while they focus on their studies, there are options to move to the social clubs looking to keep their teams going.
Have any of the 'elite' clubs been out to ABE to talk to any of the girls about what they may want to do next season? Technically it isn't poaching if ABE aren't offering a senior team. If anything, someone should be trying to establish a link with the club, so that ABE can act like a feeder club into the senior teams.

Occasionally available in blue
Re: Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
ABE have simply made a decision to keep U13-U17 girls. If they could accommodate a senior team they would - how do you think ABE feel about letting player go.
Only a handful of players will not be playing next year due to studies. Some players will move on and have been counselled as to what opportunities there are and what clubs may provide a good pathway for them. A handful of players will look at simply playing socially.
It's not as if ABE have said well done and good luck!

Yep, this isnt a post to sink boots into clubs, it was purely to salute a great bunch of girls going their seperate ways!
Well done to them all

Re: Adelaide Blue Eagles U17s
It is a shame the Blue Eagles don't have a senior team. The club has great facilities and is in an excellent location.
It is good that the club/coaches are offering counsel to players as to which clubs to approach/play for though.
