Vale had 3 chances to clear the ball before it even came to Brooks.tibbaw wrote:Gardens 1 Vale 0
Brooksy 86th minute
I thought that the Vale were a little unlucky today but the game was pretty even and perhaps Parafield were slightly the better team in a dissapointing game.

Re: Cup finals
Long day at Hindmarsh today....went in by train @ 7:30...all the Bay City runners heading into town.
Some good football today in all games...
Modbury Vista and Tea Tree Gully was quite a skillful game with some lads who could easily step up to senior levels next year...good win for the Vista lads.
The over 35's also had some nice passages of play with Elizabeth Vale eventually winning to the delight of Earl Pudler..
Elizabeth Downs Reserves continued their 29 year unbeaten run at Hindmarsh with a very young side who managed to put 5 goals passed Parafield Gardens without reply ( and safehands kept a clean sheet ).
The Modbury Vista Seniors were having their own party in the stands.
In the main game it took a excellent 87th. minute strike from Michael Brooks and 2 excellent last minute saves from Anthony Stam to separate Gardens from the Vale to give Gardens the Double League and Challenge Cup double.
And...I even got a lift home from a Gardens supporter.... cheers bloodypassit !
Photos will probably take a while to post...
Thanks to SAASL for a great day..

Well done to the lads yesterday, just what the club needed some good news for once.. Well done to coach Matt had the lads ticking over nicely in time for the final...
Well done to everyone at Gardens for a cracking season and getting the double double a record that may stand for a while yet. Definetly the bench mark yet again...

the A's on the other hand have done the club proud with a well ground out 1-0 win with the big man Stam in
goals doing what he does best to make sure we would get the Double Double !!

Re: Cup finals
First time that I had seen either side play. Went to the game as a neutral expecting to see a high standard game but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Both teams created some good passages but all in all not the standard that I expected to see.
Gardens can be very thankful that they didn't go a man down early in the first half when a vale player was through on goal when he was fouled by the last man just outside the box. I was sitting amongst 3 referees at the time and they all said that it was a clear red. Nevertheless Gardens got the winner and the Cup! Congratulations...
By the way, I didn't know that they made pink boots! Not sure if they suited the tatts.
