Current World Top 5!
usually Ronaldo posts utter crap on her, but recently he has raised a valid point and so i though about this topis;
on current form rate top 5 players in world
1 - Messi
2 - C.Ronaldo
3 - Rooney
4 - Hamsik
5 - Cassano
ps, I only saw Napoli game and Milan game this weekend, but was really impressed with the two at 4 and 5.

Re: Current World Top 5!
On what basis is this on....form alone?
Fabregas leaves Arsenal, has scored 3 times and assisted his side to a trophy aleady, RVP has scored a handful of goals for both club and country, Agureo is off to a flyer and Phil Jones has made giant strides, even a national birth.
Or was this just an opinion of yours?

Re: Current World Top 5!
Agree with that list on the main, but surely Puyol in there is a little bit strange. The guy was crocked most of last season. Berbatov also is dubious. If it was Rooney there it'd be more believable. Nice to see Gomez and Benzema so high, they have been excellent over the last 6-8 months. Gomez best target striker in the world atm.
Re: Current World Top 5!
Phil Jones may have played well recently, but there is no way he is even close to being in the top five players in the world, form or otherwise.Chaos wrote:On what basis is this on....form alone?

Agree. No where Phil jones is near there. Not even top 20 I would say. I insist, Rooney still the best in the world ATM. Follow by messi and Ronaldo.
Re: Current World Top 5!
Ahhh the Castrol Rankings. The same ranking that had Lazio's #2 goalkeeper, Albano Bizzari, as the 49th best player in the world or something like that (when they used to appear in The Advertiser). This of, course was without playing a game that year and as far as I can remember, with Muslera being ahead of him.

Just listed a few very quick names of players who have done their jobs most recently. Merely pointing out that form doesnt make you the best in the world, more so consistency.

Re: Current World Top 5!
In no particular order
Leo Messi (the lad just is the best in world right now, only ronaldo would disagree, he could be refered to as the best ever if he wins 2014)
Luis Suarez (major part in Uruguay winning Copa America and has started well for Liverpool)
Cristiano Ronaldo (to score the amount of goals he scores in as little games as he does is phenomenal)
Wayne "Sampson" Rooney (in top form now and seems to have the passion... or hair... back from his earlier days)
Sergio "Kun" Aguero (leaving everyone saying "Carlos who?")
Notable mentions based on end of last season and start of this one... Nasri, Neuer, Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar, Thiago Silva, Ozil

Re: Current World Top 5!
Fair enough. It did appear as though you were trying to place him amongst the best in the world. You mentioned him alongside Fabregas and RVP. He probably will go on to be one of the best defenders in the world (along with Chris Smalling), but right now he's got a long way to go.Chaos wrote:Where did I say he wasBowTiesAreCool wrote:Phil Jones may have played well recently, but there is no way he is even close to being in the top five players in the world, form or otherwise.Chaos wrote:On what basis is this on....form alone?

Re: Current World Top 5!
dont know how Aguero could be mentioned in the top 5
he is yet to play against any decent opposition for city, surely you need to perform against the big teams to be compared as one of the best in the world

true, but he'll take his current good form into those big matchesChelsea4thewin wrote:dont know how Aguero could be mentioned in the top 5

and lets face it, with the quality he has around him he should have no problem scoring against any team regardless of how good they are
