Re: Saturday Div 1 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumours
Seems like no one wants to tip the last few rounds!!!
It's been very tight & somewhat unpredictable but here goes....
Salis Villa V BOSA: Draw (more hopeful than realistic)
SPOC V Allstars: SPOC (you know guys, if you win the league there's no way I can come back next year... everyone will say I'm just a title chaser!!!)
Iggies V Sturt: Draw (would have gone for Sturt but really hard to predict this one after their result last week)
Jets V Stirling: Stirling (very good last week but got lots of help from the ref)
Adelaide Villa V Wanderers: Villa (absolute must win, but won't be easy)

Salis Villa V BOSA: BOSA will win this easily
SPOC V Allstars: SPOC are in form & will score double figures
Iggies V Sturt: Sturt to bounce back after the shock of last week
Jets V Stirling: Modbury will fight hard for their usual great escape, hopefully Stirling will get the win
Adelaide Villa V Wanderers: a point is all Wanderers need, but Villa will be too good at home

Re: Saturday Div 1 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumours
Yeah our ground gets worse and worse now. Mainly due to the fact that there are games at Cowandilla every week now. Actually 3 teams use the ground this year. It also didn't help with the school not cutting the grass last week, which meant that the lines were not marked on the Friday before the game. About a quarter of the pitch at the far end with long grass above the ankles .. The guy that marks the pitch on Friday thought they would mow the pitch early Sat morning. Hence the rush to do it while the B's game was on.2011 Sat Premier wrote:At the top, Stirling do St Peters and BOSA a massive favour (both of whom missed the opportunity to put themselves in the ascendancy) and keep themselves in with an outside chance of snatching the title. Any one of the top 5 can still win the league, but logically only one of the top three will win.2011 Sat Premier wrote: Round 17 - 27 August 2011
Salisbury Villa v BOSA
St Peters v Allstars United
Old Ignatians v Sturt Marion
Modbury Jets v Stirling
Adelaide Villa v Adelaide Wanderers
This is the ride home:
31pts St Peters: Allstars (home), Sturt Marion (away)
31pts Adelaide Villa: Wanderers (home), Salisbury Villa (away)
29pts BOSA: Salisbury Villa (away), Allstars (away), Stirling (away - TBD)
27pts Sturt Marion: OISC (away), St Peters (home)
26pts Stirling: Modbury (away), OISC (home), BOSA (home - TBD)
Would hope that the Stirling v BOSA matches are played before the final week of the season out of fairness to the other teams. None of the top three will want to drop any more points before that fixture is played, whilst Sturt and Stirling have nothing to lose in their last fixtures. Adelaide Villa appears to have the 'easiest' run home.
OISC mathematically now safe at the bottom after overcoming a depleted Allstars. I think that's the fourth worst pitch I've ever played on - behind the two OISC pitches in Winter and the old Adelaide Villa pitch at Renown Park in Winter.
Wanderers need one point from their last two games to survive. Modbury v Wanderers are playing each other in the last round, so if Modbury pull off another upset this week against Stirling, they need Adelaide Villa to beat Wanderers this week to make that game relevant. Could they pull off the great escape?

Re: Saturday Div 1 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumours
4 teams can win the league:
St Peters
Adelaide Villa
BOSA
Stirling
Saints have a 3 goal headstart on Villa. If they both win, it's a straight shootout on GD. If one of them drops points, then the other will be Champions by winning. If they both drop points, they open the door for the other two.
BOSA can be Champions if they win both of their games and St Peters and Adelaide Villa both draw, both lose, or one draws and one loses. They can also be Champions if they win and draw, and both St Peters and Adelaide Villa lose (everyone finishes on 34 points - will be GD to decide).
Stirling can only be Champions if they win both of their games and St Peters and Adelaide Villa both draw (Stirling will need some GD to catchup), both lose (they will be outright Champions then), or one draws and one loses (Stirling will need GD to catch the team that draws).
Modbury and Allstars are both down. Uni and Hawks are up to replace them. An extra C team for Div One!
In the Bs, if their results match next week or if Stirling lose or draw, then it comes down to the catchup. If BOSA drop points and Stirling win, Stirling are Champions and the catchup is meaningless.

Re: Saturday Div 1 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumours
Missing three results:
Allstars v BOSA (A+B)
Sturt Marion v St Peters (B only)
St Peters winners in the most dramatic fashion. Was the Salisbury Villa goal the last of the game??
Modbury and Allstars already relegated.
If BOSA didn't win on Saturday in the Ressies then Stirling are Champions.
Also, I can't quite believe that the team that finished bottom of Sat Div 1 Reserves is in the Cup Semi Final, how many As players are playing?

Re: Saturday Div 1 Predictions, Results, Thoughts, Rumours
I sincerely hope that in the spirit of the game ,both clubs field their regular B grade sides, as those players that have got the teams where they are ,deserve to have opportunity to finish off what they started.2011 Sat Premier wrote:reserves title to be determined
I know from my own experience,if you stack the B team with A grade players, and win, still doesnt feel right for all the B players who played together all year. If you load your B team with A grade players and lose,it is a very sick feeling within the club.
Good luck to both sides.
