Well there is a difference between teams you would like to see go down and ones who deserve it.

I thought that the vikings and knights were going to go down based on the quality of their squads.

However in saying that I would have liked to see a few other teams relegated... but lets not go there!

Great display by the Downs today with a win in all grades.

Bs ref at the Grove was outstanding in what was at times a feisty and competitive game that you would expect between local rivals.

As game was over as a contest very early with with a hat trick from Tommy Radford inside the first half hour, Nathan was all class and it could have been more if Bert had shot on a couple of occassions rather than passing it to the goalkeeper. Great to see some of the young lads get a run in the As with a glimpse to the future.

Well done to the Grove for their first season back in the top flight and thanks for all the hospitality.

Great result for the Knights today. A typically tough encounter between two fierce rivals

I thought Raptors looked dangerous early and took a deserved lead, but Knights equalised just before the break.

The second half was a complete different story. A Knight substitution midway through the half turned the game their way with Thommo netting a brace either side of a scorching volley from Scott Bradly leaving the Raptors stunned.

I'm sure Raptors return to Div 3 won't be a long stay and they'll return to Div 2 sooner rather than later.

ps....the Yiros's wee sensational
I'd agree with most of that. You didn't look like scoring until two minutes before half time (didn't see that one coming either) but whatever your coach said at half time did the trick. The volleyed goal from the free kick was probably one of the best I've seen in the SAASL in a long time. Thommo scored a brace for the reserves too.

On a side note my yiro was pretty ordinary.
congrats to Sthn Knights for the win to keep them up - well played

scored right on half time to go into the break 1-1 and never looked back in the second half. if anything the scoreline couldve been worse for Raptors

we cant complain about being relegated though. dropped too many points throughout the season and didnt play at a standard worthy of Div 2

Agreed that Scott's goal was a cracker, although Matt's goal on halftime was probably the most important goal all year, changed the game completely and gave us the much needed belief to come out firing in the second half

It was good to see a hard contest played in excellent spirits - both games were well refereed and no 'nasty' stuff after. This was the 'normal' way Amateur Football is

Many thanks to the raptors and their hospitality... Given the situation and the outcome
Football was the winner... To see kids wearing Millwall and west ham tops kicking a football
.. To see rangers and Celtic supporters chatting to each other ...
Scott does have that ability to score great goals ... His other great goal was against Adelaide Vikings earlier this year ( sorry big g)

That said the kid in the Millwall shirt was singing a song about how much he hated west ham. He even told a spectator that his nickname was "I am the west ham hater"

That said, I watch raptors on occasions and they are always a very hospitable club. When I was at their game v macedonia - I was even invited into their corporate hospitality area by one of their committee. :D

what a great day it is today.

Fulham still in Division 1 in the most dramatic of fashions and the C team clinching the title in equally dramatic circumstances.

The excitement and vibe at the club at the end of the day was amazing - it had been a long 4 weeks at Fulham - in fact a long season but both the results yesterday is what we all play football for - the drama and excitement you get like yesterday you wouldn't even be able to write about.

Everyone was on the phones during the Gardens - Florina game on edge and when we knew they went 1 up the whole crowd just lifted.

Do feel sorry for Florina but if it wasn't them it was going to be us - someone just had to go down.

Great finish to the season Fulham - enjoy the off season cos the season wil be back before we all know it.

PONTIAN wrote:PONTIANS 1 VALE 2

Thought today was a game where both teams were just looking forward to next week and just wanted to get through the game without and injuries and cards. It was a nice open game and it was end to end stuff without too many crunching tackles (both teams probably happy with that :) ). The Vale boys looked sharp up front and they created two clear cut chances that they finished well. Our boys are looking forward to a full squad getting back together this week at training as there will be a big fight for positions. Guys who didn't play should be very fresh :D
I agree wasn't as physical a match as you would expect. I thought we played well and kept our shape and created enough opportunities. Cheers to the guys at Pontians for their hospitality yesterday best spread in div 1 for sure and best of luck next week in your semi final.

Giorgio hasn't played for Fulham most of the 2nd half of the season due to injury so stays on 10.

Dont get excited on the C Team yet as the Vale game we won 13-1 last week the scorers have not been updated and Alex P got at least 3 from my memory.

Will be close lefty but Raeed might just pip him as we no that some of the sheets have not been sent in and Alex has bagged some goals in those games.

Just hope they r all sent in so the top scorer can be rewarded and not because a sheet was not sent in someone had to miss out.

a shame Ingle Farm's first half of the season couldn't have been as good as the second half.
