One minor difference of course .... Nuggett's comments are here on this message board in cyber space rather than directly at the ref and also .... his comments didn't result in a game being called off. Maybe it's not such a minor difference after all!

I need to go and wash my hands now, I feel dirty after siding with Nuggett.

I suppose Gardens supporters are polite and never question any refereeing decisions that go against them? I guess when you're winning, the refs always look/seem just that little bit better. As the old saying goes, refs are needed and should be respected even if they arent always 100% right.................except when they're blatantly against us!

Funny you say that, I remember this year when Florina played at Gardens, someone ran over to the ref after the first team game and got in his face, even though Gardens won...

In saying that though I do remember the yellow vest official running over to separate them and get the ref off the ground

You asked for my comment ghia so here it is. Firstly you are correct in that the game was called off 20 mins in the first half and not in the 2nd half as quoted. Don't know who the eyewitness was and why they chose to remain annonymous, also as stated previously did not hear what the neutral pontian supporter said to the ref but I think most of people there could hear your marshal/president acting like a tool. Simo's comment on the situation if read properly doesn't say anything about your club. It only states the fact that ingle farm were in no way involved in the incident and he backed the referees judgement given the circumstances. Now let's get down to the facts of the story. Referee was abused by pontian supporter/marshal and game was abandoned. It's laughable that you are still coming on here trying to shift blame. You guys screwed up so loose the excuses, man up and take responsibility for the incident! Rather than blame the ref for what he did/didn't do. Blame your marshal/president for what he did/didn't do.

At last, someone has pointed out what should have been obvious...............

We/you all have colourful opinions of referees but, mostly, we keep our OPINIONS here on the forum.

As soon as those opinions lead to behaviour in public that is unlawful, that's all whole lot of trouble for any club.

Trust me players are not happy with the Marshall, never said he was right in what he did.

If what was said on the weekend sets a precident for other games to get called off you wont have games finishing. Steve overacted to the situation. Let me make this clear, The comment using the word "Bashed" was made after Steve called off the game and it was made by a B grade player that just finished his game. The comment was "With decisions like those its no wonder you refs get bashed"
Absolutely the most stupidish (if thats such a word) to say and he was given a very hard word to last night and will not play on the weekend as punishment. The reactions of the crowd was not any different to any other weekend on any other football field. If Steve felt threated I apologise to him as I am involved with the club but cant speak on their behalf, as I know there was never any intetion from any player supporter or spectator to physically harm him. Maybe I could of done something but it happened pretty quickly and I didnt think it was gonna get called off. Once again I feel for the two sets of players but Im sure they have moved on and look forward to haing 90 minutes this week. The club now wait to hear what the SAASL has decided and we move on. This hasnt been a great week for the club and has put another black mark against the sport we all love.

People should try to only comment on facts and the more bulldust that flies around the worst these incidents look and makes our game, the one we all love, look bad

I was Chairman of the Gardens for 6 year, most of the games in that time I was Ground Marshall.
I found the hardest part of being a Ground Marshall was having to tell good friends to calm down & pull there heads in.
In some instances when they went over the top & didn't listen to those instructions I was force to impose bans to them.
After every home game I made it a point to go to the Referee thank him & offer him a drink regardless whether we Won or the Job that he did,
something I am proud still continues at our Club today through lefty.

When I finished my role as Chairman, I went back to being a Passionate Vocal Gardens Supporter.
I am no angel & I have given Referee's plenty of curry before, like after last years Cup Final on this forum as you can see in handy_mans signature (knob).
I can honestly say this I have Never threatened a Referee or got is his Face, Never had a Referee Stop the game & tell the Ground Marshall to Shut me Up,
I have always know the line not to cross...

I know how important Referee's are to our game & RESPECT the Job that they do, even the poor ones.
I hate how people blame Referee's, bad tackles, oppersition players & supporters, for "there actions" trying to justify absolutley terrible behaviour that just can't be.

The Facts are this...

On Sunday at Ingle Farm the Referee sent the Pontian Keeper Off,
a Pontian Supporter started abusing the Referee to the point he Stop the Game to speak to the Pontian Ground Marshall,
the Pontian Ground Marshall then joined in the abuse of the Referee.
It is reported that One eyewitness told the Messenger a Pontian fan shouted to the referee:
“Decisions like that get refs bashed and you’ll get yours at the end of the game.”
The Referee obviously felt that he had no other alternative than to Abandoned the game & it is reported that he had the support of the oppersition coach.

Pontian keeper had a clear and deliberate handball outside the box and was duly given a red card. Once again seen them given plenty of times before but farm player would have had a bit of work left to finish off the goal, bad decision by the keeper. Was not privvy to the exact comments of the said supporter to the ref. Sick of hearing what if he was a neutral. He was not a neutral and clearly part of the pontian continget there on the day. The pontian marshal who is the club president did not handle the situation well. Instead he aggrovated the situation by dishing a tirade of abuse to the ref. Steve is genuinely a good guy but can be incosistent either way you have to respect the referees decision, harden up and get on with it. The young linesman on the pontian side was visibly shaken by the incident and given the incidents that have occurred this year the president/marshal should have taken a common sense approach and diffused the situation. League needs to set a precedent here and apparently pontians already on a good behaviour issue from the league due to previous incedents. The loosers out of the whole thing is players and spectators who gave up there time for what should have been a cracking game.

Whole thing could have been diffused if the yellow coated official showed some respect and kept his mouth shut and asked the supporter to move away from the line instead of further provoking the siuation.
