Gold Coast Champions Cup
Has anyone here been or know much about the Gold Coast Champions Cup that will be held at the end of September. Do you get many people at the games and how does the tournament run, group stage then knockout?
Which teams from SA are going?

Very good Tournament my sons team has played 3 times in it. Dont get me wrong was a holiday that involved soccer. Its run like STIC I suppose, lots of pitches games going all the time. The referee's were young when we were there and that was the only down side to it.
Panthers have been there pretty sure they won last year.
Standard is good.
Warm conditions so get accomodation with Pool for players!

Is it group stage then move on to knockout? Do you get to play at any stadiums if you make it further into the tournament?
Re: Gold Coast Champions Cup
My son played in the Gold Coast Cup 2 years ago, and it was split in groups, with the top 2 from each group getting to play off for finals spots. The games were all held next to Carrara Oval, the surfaces were like bowling greens on some of the pitches, the worst pitches were much better than anything the boys play on Sundays here. The final has been held in the main stadium some years, but is dependent on afl committments and the ovals condition.
The only drawback was the blatant bias toward the local teams, which made the decision easy to not send teams last year.
My son had a fantastic time, but it becomes a fairly costly exercise. In total it cost the two of us nearly $4k, for 8 days, including hire car and theme parks.

I took U12 & U13 teams 2 years running at no cost to players (fund raising) and incl all costs for accomodation, food transport plus playing attaire staying at quality accomdation.
We had fantastic time and very good competition but very hot need at least 16 players.
Have also been to Kanga Cup and no comparison when you consider what you get for the same money.
Great experince

Re: Gold Coast Champions Cup
Does anyone have an idea of what day the finals are played? and will they be at the carrara stadium?
Re: Gold Coast Champions Cup
Attached is the cup website.
Based on 2010, the semis were played on the Friday and final the next day.
The home page states the final will be played in the main stadium.
You can also look at the results from 2010 on the site.
