To be good coach is one thing, being an excellent coach is another, so what attributes would an excellent coach have? For a start the knowledge on how to get the best out not only his good players but encourage the best out of the not so good, this type of coach is a motivator and an excellent communicator. So this subject started out as WHO will the Sunday Div 1 coaches be for 2012? So who will would be the best coaches for this div and that are excellent communicator and motivators? I put this one out there.

I'm not bagging Motts at all because I like him & I do think he is a good coach,

like the die hard Downs Supporters even he will be very disappointed.
Who knows why the Downs underachived this season injuries, player cohesion, luck what ever reason,
I'm sure if you asked Motts he will put up his hand & say the buck stop here.

Coaches Live & Die by Results...

With that being said isn't it funny that when a Coach does perform & gets results we all desire, it's because of the Players he has, and the support he gets.

I think It's called the Tall Poppy syndrome!
A coach can recruit well but can still be at the hands of referees and injuries.
On Motts, I remember this 4-5 year old kid and his mates would kick a ball around me, onto the goal net etc..when I was in goal for the Downs.....I then remember that kid as a 15 year old playing First Team for the Dows....that kid was Motts, his father Richie was coaching or playing, his Mum Edie was running the canteen or selling raffle tickets, and his Grandfather Billy ? would run on as physio with his ice bag.....
Motts bleeds maroon blood...

Would like to do seniors and wld like to coach at the highest level possible wherever and when ever tht may be. Not sure why ur curious and im aware I dont have to answer anything, is it not just friendly forum chat :)
Not sure when Gdns re appoint or appoint the coach but if Cookey decides not to do a fed job then we(players) wld all assume tht he will be leading the charge again next season....

Heard they have interviewed a couple of candidates, both of which went well. Still on the hunt for someone to continue Moggys good work rather than someone who may change quite a few things around

By now some clubs must be talking to coaches re next year by staying on or moving on. At the Downs have who confirmed your coach, Vista is your coaching staff confirmed, PHE we know they have advert in place, has PHE selected a replacement for next year? But about other clubs eg farm?

I always find it interesting that clubs appoint new coaches prior to their AGM, maybe I am missing something here ?

Should be it upto whoever is on the committee after the AGM to appoint the coach, that is usually their number one task ? Thoughts please ?

Was Jason Trimboli out watching Ingle Farm or Pontian on Sunday? Maybe a player coach role next year for him?

Why would Steve Cook take a paycut and a bigger challenge ? :)

Paycut & bigger challenge WTF are you on about General?
Steve Cook is arguably one of the best coaches in the SAASL ATM with the results to prove it. He has done a fantastic job in the last 4yrs at the Gardens with now 7 Major Trophies & that could be 9 at the end of this campaign. I'm sure any Club would love the services of Steve Cook & it definally ain't about the money.

Most if not all would have full time jobs, but if you can coach and pick up say $5k to $10K cash in the hand for 18 weeks of part time work plus pre season, well that pays for your next holiday. You already love the game so why not get a bit coin at the sametime.

Sorry K.N. it was an attempt at humour,as in tongue in cheek. I was referring that Para Hills maybe cant afford someone of the calibre of Steve Cook. I have played alongside, and against Steve, agree with all your comments. :)
