Yeh right ..so you spoke to some Kids and they weren't happy with the way things were run and wont be back.

I was talking about the stic kids but since everyones having at go at me over the sapsasa tell me the benefits a week off school has when the there's nothing but a game for a minority of kids & nothing else hey, come on no one gets picked up for any elite squads, only the club kids that happen to get into a squad with a decent coach get any football out of it, the rest have a good time nohing wrong with tha t, but don't make a big thing out of it just because your kid is in it or your running it you want to make a proper tournament plan the football properly, make sure all teams have a licensed coached, maybe get some accademies involved, giventhe kids some training for a decent time if it's all about fun then make it on the school holidays

Your ignorance, negativity and lack of perspective is astounding. That your opinions are to do with junior sport is highly concerning.

I think you should take some time to look on the Sapsasa website and maybe develop some understanding about the opportunities that are provided for our kids to get involved and have a go at a wide range of sports. You should think about the time and effort that goes into providing these opportunities and the benefits that might exist for the kids besides "being picked in elite squads".

In regards to the the soccer you should really do some more research and talk to more people and gain a clearer understanding before you make comments like "plan the football properly" and "give the kids proper training time". Making flippant, ill-informed comments about something you clearly have no idea about makes you look foolish and I take exception to these comments on behalf of all the people who put in a lot of hard work and effort voluntarily in their free time.

Just to enlighten you a little, a lot of districts in "developing" football communities do hold clinics and extra trainings to develop skills and understanding of the game. Many districts in higher divisions find this difficult because the kids already have such high commitments (such as club training, state trials, school training, other sports/cultural extra curricular activities etc) and parents have high demands with work and running around other kids etc too. In my district it is hard enough to get the kids there one night a week and I spent 7 weeks trialing and training in my own time, juggled around their schedules and my busy schedule of staff meetings, year level meetings, leadership meetings, professional development, parent interviews, my own club training, etc. This is time spent out of my own busy schedule, as is uniform nights, the administration (paperwork, money, other general organisation for the carnival etc.). Like the other managers and coordinators we do this not for personal recognition or benefit, nor do I care if we get it, we do it so these opportunities exist for the kids.

Licensed and accredited coaches for all? Actually maybe we could get Mourinho, Ferguson and Hiddink on board? The part you seem to overlook is that these people need to volunteer their time otherwise the costs will mean that many can't afford to participate. You seem to think you have all the answers, maybe you can give up some of your time to help us stop staging such a disappointing tournament

The scariest thing for me is not that you can't identify all of the benefits of Sapsasa, it's success, or the hard work that goes into it. It is not even that you are so willing to criticise something you grasp little understanding of. The bit that blows me away is that you acknowledge kids enjoy it and for you that is not enough.

I am starting to understand why you seem to hold so little credibility on this forum. It is a shame because I assume that being on here so regularly means that you are passionate about this great game.

It is extremely funny to see you dodge Bigmacs reasonable request for you to state what you do or have done for Junior soccer in this state. I am guessing that means the extent of your contributions is negativity and finger pointing and if you were green you may just consider stealing Christmas.

What isn't funny is listening to you, up there on your high horse, telling everyone what is wrong with a system that you clearly have very little understanding of. If you did you would know that SAPSASA has NEVER been a tournament just for kids that "don't normally get the chance to be part of a sporting tournament". SAPSASA has ALWAYS been a tournament for ALL kids.

The major shift in the SAPSASA setup has been the combining of the Metro and Country carnivals (except for Swimming and Athletics) due to the forced end of billeting, costs etc. This has given birth to the division system (which I talked about earlier) which helps to try to group districts according to their strength in that sport.

There IS a minimum training requirement and Zones are based on school enrolment numbers across the districts (which does change in time and the district boundaries are changing quite a bit from next year to reflect this). As for your "Quality coaches for all" call, once again if they dont volunteer their time the costs will blow out and a huge number of kids will not be able to afford to participate. That's right...it will become a tournament for the elite, NOT for all.

I know Whyalla pulled out last minute this year and have heard one of the reasons was because the bloke that usually volunteers his time couldn't do it this year and they couldn't get going. SO do I forward your name to them next year?

how many Stic players were named in the SA squad? Surely out of the top 18 players in this ELITE selection process there has to be one who plays for his school, and is selected to go to Canberra this coming week.

I do know some players made their various stic teams, some trialled and didnt make it and from what I can tell all of the players play for an FFSA club..... I know the SAPSASA guys had probably close to 200 kids in the end trial, and went to a lot of junior club games, tournament things etc. Guess we'll find out after next week how the team compared to other states.... they had a hit out against a few U13's teams over the past few weeks but I'd be too biased to give a comment and not get flamed though.

umm they really needed to win that game. oh well they gave it a good shot it would seem from the results.

SA boys finished 2nd overall. A 1-1 draw with Victoria on the final day secured 2nd spot with NSW taking out 1st place winning all their games.

All up it was a fairly succesful tournament and some fantastic talent on show from all states, and I'd say whilst perhaps a little biased, we had a couple of real standout boys in the team.

The whole event was well organised by the SA coordinators/managers/coaches, and it was a great experience for the lads from what I saw. Something they will all take away and remember fondly. One other great thing I managed to see on the last day was our SA boys mixing with kids from other states, whether it was an all on all kickaround on one of the small pitches or just a few kids chatting away with each other about their games etc. I reckon they did the state and their schools very proud.

The girls also did well too, finishing 3rd overall.
