Indeed I was, still looked offside from my angle, regardless the result stands, congrats Robin, finally some luck going your way.

spoke to the guys on the far side and at change of linesman he said " can you run me through the rules " costly maybe?
In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside - Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.

Decision was made probably shoulda been a red but wasnt given, Pontian converted penalty went one nil up and the game moved on, Farm equalised with a well taken goal, looked a good match, the Pontian Keeper blatant hadball outside the box was always a red card, and was duly given.

Pontain supporters abuse Ref, Ref asks the yellow coated official to move a abusive /

cancels game, and states he doesnt need or have to put up with threat of being 'bashed',
felt sorry for the players who were battling out a good close game for second spot and Farm who had absolutely no involvement in the situation.

Whole thing could have been diffused if the yellow coated official showed some respect and kept his mouth shut and asked the supporter to move away from the line instead of further provoking the siuation.
Don't think you can quote what was said considering where most of the farm supporters were. Yes def should of been handled better by ref and the official could of done something else. I suppose if a spectator wants to say his piece what is an official going to do? Unfortunately most games in the amateur league don't have fences so where does an official tell a spectator to go? I guess when issues like this happen you have to consider what frame of mind that person is at the time of the offense/discretion.
Thought it was all handbags to be honest and now the amateur league has more work to do.

It will be an interesting cup draw on Monday night

Fair enuff.. I guess at the end of the day it is the responsibility of the club to 'control' their supporters and offer a level of protection to the officials...

I think with all the money in the bank the saasl needs to start investing in their clubs with fencing (temporary or fixed) and even compulsory lockable refs rooms...

Not a good day at the office for Southern Knights...2-0 up early in the game and playing some good football.
Macedonia got one back before half time and then found themselves 2-3 up..Knights managed to rattle the upright but the ball refused to cross the line...furthermore Knights weren't able to convert a second penalty which also struck the upright.
Why referees continue to book players for asking questions or touching a ball into the net after a whistle has blown....yet they let players get away with tackles from behind still amazes me.. :?
Thanks to Paul Martin and Deb for organizing the Hangi...a win would have helped make the beer taste better.

Southern Knights ( 9 ) Macedonia United ( 0 )

Dont worry DOC, we know we're safe and we can go out there and enjoy the final game this week with no pressure..
Inter game is at our ground though this week and no team wants to lose on their home ground so we def won't be lying down for them.

Not surprised, he threatened to call of the Iggys vs Sturt Marion game because someone called him a c***.

He is one of the worsst referees I've ever seen in 35 years of SAASL involvement. He lets personal feelings interfere with his handling of games and worst of all he is a terrible communicator.

It was definitely handbags at 10 paces stuff yesterday at the farm v pontian game. All Sharkey had to do is keep refereeing the game and he would have had no problem

Yes he was
disappointing and he's also mentioned in grouse n ice's thread too with strangely
the same scenario!
Needs to sort himself out and take his role seriously
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

This is the thing, the SAASL Rules state a Club has to provide two Ground Marshals. It also has a Club Official Code of Conduct & a Supporter Code of Conduct,
clearly this supporter went over the top in his abuse to the Referee. The referee doesn't get paid a little over $100 to get over the top abuse from supporters
obviously the supporter went way too far...
PONTIAN you should be spewing with the supporter & your Club President who didn't do his job as Ground Marshal, not the Referee...
