Re: adelaide united womens coach
Ok I will ask a question or 2. Before I do I have no affiliation with a senior club my daughter plays (Under 12s).
What is the criteria for appointing a coach?
Has it been advertised?
What qualifications do you need?
Who actually picks the coach?
What does this coach need to do with the Adelaide United women's team?
Win the league?
Be competitive but promote juniors?
Where would you expect the appointed coach to get the players from?
Local League?
Interstate?
Overseas?
Based on the criteria you answer who is the person that should get it and why?

Re: adelaide united womens coach
Hope FFSA will appoint at least the same caliber of coach as the Jets in Clayton Zane. Former international soccer player and socceroos with a A License and abundance of experience. Also having a former international matildas soccer player as female assistance coach in Joey Peters with coaching experience and qualification would help.
So hope FFSA will not appoint any local faces.

the trials for the State & Prem league girls are over and done with.Spurs23 wrote:Haven't they started trials? Burton park? I know the scout involved, have told him to not only do trials but go to as many prems/even state league games as possible.
I can't believe that FFSA haven't even bothered contacting them to say 'thanks, but no thanks'.
Does anyone know any girl who was asked back?
Re: adelaide united womens coach
They havent even finished trials with existing players and state/sasi girls

This is true, there has only been 1 trial for that group so far, the second trial was postponed and hasn't been held yet.BigFan wrote:They havent even finished trials with existing players and state/sasi girls
You would think nothing will be decided or communicated to any girls who have trialled until that second trial has at least taken place...

They had two trials for the State/Prems girls about 3 weeks ago. If anyone was good enough, word was they'd get asked back to trial with the SASI girls etc... so haven't heard that anyone did. Hopefully they'll contact all of those girls and at least thank them for their time.pvfc wrote:This is true, there has only been 1 trial for that group so far, the second trial was postponed and hasn't been held yet.BigFan wrote:They havent even finished trials with existing players and state/sasi girls

They might be very SMART to watch the State Schoolgirls on at the moment too!

Re: adelaide united womens coach
Dont be too worried they have not contacted any players yet, its purely for the fact the trials involving sasi and au players have not finished...its been a slow process but hey, its not something we as forum members can control. Re: adelaide united womens coach
why is everyone getting so stressed out about the federation not appointing a coach? its not the end of the world at the end of the day as long as everyone is training and doing extra in their own time then does it really matter? South Australia have never been known to have the best tactics and game plan - we are better known as playing with whoooole heap of heart and getting the job done that way. picking a coach isnt the hard bit of this process - its picking the right players.
- initiative
- fit
- good with communication
- knowing the next move before it happens
- heart
- dedication
- passion
- attitude
- hard at the ball
all of the above is what makes a great team - as long as the girls who are trying out have most of the above then really at the end of the day the coach just puts the finishing touches on..
United has always had a team of individuals - hopefully with a team full of Adelaide based players then we can turn that around. Once again, instead of being so negative - why not give the girls a go.
three seasons = embarrassment. now that united have been taken over, everyone needs to get onboard and show their support.
who cares who the coach is as long as the right players are picked.

Re: adelaide united womens coach
D.A.M. You have made some good sense however, the whole issue here is that women’s football is not living up to expectations (justified or not).
Basically results reflect the standard of the players here in SA. Admittedly, the last World Cup highlighted how the game has been going backwards worldwide.
The coaches at that level SHOULD be all about tactics and strategies and bringing together a team however, as with SASI and State, the coaches also try and teach the basic skills that in 95% of the time are either missing or at a very low level.
That’s why ether are differences in opinion as to whom should coach.

I heard this Saturday there will be more trials at SASI for the W-League.
Anyone knows if it's gonna be a game? And who made it so far?
Still no coach I guess

Unfortunately it seems to happen a lot in this state with women's soccer, all gets too hard they go to another team rather then stick it out.Red-4-Life wrote:Good players leaving, not what the team needs when they are trying to re-build!Butterfingers wrote:I heard that it is a game and that the w-league players that have been selected are having a game against sasi at 10am

Re: adelaide united womens coach
depends whats being offered. In the past girls have gone overseas because they feel - why not let my soccer ability pay for my education...
Im sure VB is going because she feels she will get better coaching and playing with the Sydney girls will help her maybe get a chance at the 2012 London Olympics. sometimes you need to be selfish in order to follow your dreams.
Yes, shes south australian and should stay and play for us - but lets face it, Tom Semani doesnt really look at AU when picking a national squad... yet...

You will have more chance being noticed when you are playing every week, rather then going to a team where you could be struggling to get in the starting 11 every week.# 10 wrote:depends whats being offered. Re: adelaide united womens coach
you dont have a chance if your team never wins... Hopefully this year will be different but i think Semani will take more notice of her warming up on the bench for Sydney than what he would of her playing 90 minutes for AU...
Everyone had a huge issue with Stacey Day moving to Newcastle to better her chances of making the Aussie Squad and now everyone has an issue with VB moving to Sydney to better her chances of making the London Olympics - support guys c'mon.

Canberra United will have a distinctly European flavour when it takes to the field for the coming W-League season.
Former Czech Republic international Jitka Klimkova will be United's new coach following Ray Junna's resignation because of work commitments. Capital Football will announce the appointment today.
Junna notified Capital Football chief executive Heather Reid while she was in Germany at the women's World Cup and she began making inquiries.
''I talked to a number of coaches while I was in Germany,'' Reid said. ''... Out of those discussions I've been able to secure Jitka.''
Klimkova is the first W-League coach to be recruited from overseas and is also Canberra United's first female head coach.
She holds a UEFA professional coach's licence and is in charge of Czech club FC Slovacko in the women's first division.
Klimkova has also coached on the international stage with both the Czech under-17 and under-19 sides.
The 34-year-old has also played at the top level, representing her country from 1998 until her retirement in 2003.
Her appointment is only for the 2011-12 season, which is expected to kick-off on October22 with finals in late January.
Reid said it was necessary to cast her net beyond the shores of Australia to find someone available and suitably qualified.
''It's not a huge salary but it's a remuneration package that is attractive for someone who is looking for the experience and the opportunity,'' she said.
''Finding an international coach is exciting for the team and the league, and particularly having that coach as a woman we are setting an example to other clubs that it's not impossible to find a suitable, well-qualified, well-credentialled person for the job outside of Australia.
''And it will all value-add to the league, to the team and to the development of the players,'' Reid said.
Klimkova will arrive in Canberra on September21 and begin working with the squad in an attempt to win United's first W-League title.
''I am very excited about the opportunity that I will have with Canberra United and I have every intention of taking the team to the final,'' she said in a statement from the United States, where she is working at a soccer school.
''I am ready to lead this team and show it can be the best in the W-League come finals time.''
Reid is now turning her attention to the United squad and is hopeful of re-signing all four Matildas who took part in last month's World Cup - Emily van Egmond, Sally Shipard, Ellyse Perry and Lydia Williams - along with captain Ellie Brush.
Van Egmond has been linked with a move from United to be closer to her family in Newcastle but Reid is hopeful of getting the young star's signature.
''I'm quite happy with the brief discussion I had with Emily [Van Egmond] last night,'' Reid said. ''... I'm confident Emily will look favourably at continuing to play for Canberra.''
Van Egmond will be unavailable because of her international commitments until mid-November.
United's leading goalscorer Michelle Heyman has also indicated her intention to return to the nation's capital.
