Results Round 17

Post by southern »

Senior results?
I guess Metro won by 20 goals or so vs South
A.City vs Fulham?
Sturt and Cumby?

Not the most interesting games this week I guess with everyone just worrying about W League...

BTW I heard Chris Goddard is going to be A.United assistant and is selecting the players???

No joke, but have no idea if true either.
That's why I ask...well, it was actually a question!
I heard it from someone quite close to him...no names of course.
But since he has been there all this time and apparently he "helped" selecting the players so far I reckon it would be true.

No F'en wonder the new Adelaide United management said "thanks but no thanks to the Lady Reds"

What has happened to this great game over the last 4 years? F All!

Good players have left in droves (even before 4 years ago).

We are now giving coaches from the local league who (albeit they are nice people), a gig at national level.

In McCormack’s day, this would not have happened.

Total disarray. Total basket case. Total WOFTAM

Sorry to say this but I have had enough.

BTK, I think BE said she is not sure...just a rumor!!!
I agree that it's looking even worse than the past 3 years (is this actually possible??) but just wait a sec before freakin' out about a rumor! :) VB leaving it's not good news, shows how little faith there's in this squad and how bad FFSA are driving this thing...and I heard there are also other top players that have told them they don't want to be a part of this. As per the coach I heard KM applied for the job but was told no thanks. But they can't really have CG coach the lady reds especially after seeing the results with club, state and sasi...I actually heard there have been some applicants from overseas?

Assuming you are referring to the 'rumour' re CG?
Don't believe a word of it - it's rumours made up by various people! CG has not expressed an interest in this and has told me on more than one occasion that he will not be involved with AU Womens team going forward, also he thinks all the rumours etc regarding this on FN are at times hilarious

Hillarious......CG has no interest in and is not qualified to coach at AU. Was asked to 'help out' until the appointments are made.

Back to the topic, any other score?
Metro still top team after 17 rounds. It looks like this is finally their year.
Next week it's Metro vs Cumberland...Cumby were the last team to take points from Metro.
Metro must win, anything less will mean jeopardizing their season...Cumby really only playing for some honour now. Can they still achieve a result against the top team at this point? They showed that if their big stars are tops then they are a force, but to beat Metro they really need the game of the season I reckon.

 I assume this is aimed at the 'expert sources' who have been feeding various forumites bogus info?
Couldn't have put it better myself!

On the subject of results;
Not seen anything from FFSA yet, but Cumby vs Sturt was 3:1 win for Cumby Prems, and a resounding win for Cumby Reserves not sure exactly what score but at least a 5 or 6 goal winning margin from what I heard?

City v Fulham
6 nil to City I think.
Fulham were impressive to start with, took it up to City but then were badly run over in the end. Couldn't quite work out what formation Fulham were playing sort of looked 4231 with MJ as attacking mid, seemed to change after half time but only guessing on that. City were very well organized, structured, put the ball to their advantage, great to watch. GFK at RFB pushed on, hurt Fulham regularly scoring the first left foot from outside, nice one! IS, great defender, plus rest of team had good game. Metro will need to play well to beat them that's for sure. Fulham looked good at times but basic passing errors often in final third let them down. GM had tough day out, nothing went right must have been really frustrating. Lots of good signs for Fulham going on yesterday's result.

A.City still play the best football IMO, very organised and well structured...It's like their players can always anticipate what's happening next. But Metro are the top team now, they beat them once already and this time they won't even need to beat them. A draw will be more than enough :)

Could someone please explain why so many pp's in the juniors 4 or 5 I think! Not sure ut I am sure where I was the sun was shining the pitches were good and sfa reason for not playing so was this because players were involved in state or what?

Just seems crazy why games are not being played, but I am sure there will be a very genuine reason.

Round 17 Div 4 OUT 1 Adelaide Uni 6
Round 17 Div 4 Para Hills East 0 Para Hills United 6
Round 17 Div 4 Salisbury Inter 3 UniSA 1

Thanks to the Salis Inter girls ( and coach ) for a good competitive game, and for helping us out when we forgot our change strip. We are struggling with numbers at the moment, only had 7 for the about 25/30mins,then 3 more rocked up,made it more even contest.
I think if you took out the top two sides, this would be a good even league. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I agree div 4 has had some great sportsman ship this year! I agree Parra Hills should never have been in div 4, Raiders prob div 3 but if you take out their 2 best players they are actually about the same standard as the rest of div 4.

The thing that makes Raiders look good is the fact they have a great captain who really controls the team. I’ve watched a lot of their games this year and they are just a solid commutative unit who have great on field presence. I kinda think they have had a bit of a bad rap this year…...Para Hills are cocky, at least the Raiders captain always thanks you after a game and compliments your performance….even if you got a battering from her! :D

You're lucky we got new bibs this year, doubt we had enough of the old ones for a full team :)
Thanks for a competitive and good spirited game. Good luck to you too.

Agreed. Div 4 would have been a very even comp had PHU and Raiders been properly placed.

I agree about Para Hills, the players supporters come across with a cocky arrogance,I dont know why when it is division 4,half of the UniSa team are playing soccer for the first time. Raiders are a much more humble and nice team to play against, some of the comments and friendly banter is quite funny. We take some consolation from the fact we have scored against both Para Hills and Raiders, before they had the game already won.
Both times I said " we have got them worried now :) " The PH team didnt think it was funny, Raiders players had a laugh.

The Ade Uni team are a bit odd ? They beat the top 3rd div side in the cup, then forfeit the following week, not sure if they have too many teams for the players they have. Maybe it is depending on which of their team plays where as to whether some of their players make it to 2 games ?

Player drain always happens in the 2nd half of the year at Uni :? They are a great team when they have all their players though (hence why they're 3rd)! Wishing them luck in the cup semis.

shouldnt Enzo/Edoardo get a serious look in when the federation are selecting asst. coaches?
No offence to Goddard but results prove this year that Cumberland arent all that with the list they have. Personally i believe Enzo is an awesome coach and should be a foot in the door - maybe he didnt apply but he should be approached at least... For AU to be a force they need a push in the right direction, it has taken him a few years to get Metro to where they are today but given time i believe he can have a really good squad and a squad that will if not be the most skillful team at least be a team full of passion and heart (and hey, the federation would be crazy to not have him apart of the coaching staff - it will draw an amazzzzzing crowd with all the metro crew!!!)

yes i agree # 10, not too sure about CG however in saying that i have never played under him. i guess whatever decision is decided MUST be better than previous years. yes i too believe edoardo/enzo are great coaches...i have a soft spot for enzo and i guess because ive seen him develope over the years. i will again go out and support the lady reds...here's hoping the players can committ to taking this opportunity and making the most of it!!

Regardless how well a local coach may have done and despite however much great rapport they have with players to put it simply and this has been done to death in other threads if the coach DOES NOT have the MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS requested by FFA and FFSA they will not be considered for the AU job.

It is quite clear in the advertising what the minimum criteria was and 99% of premier league coaches are not even close to meeting those benchmarks.

CG - Great guy and despite the slashings that Cumberland has received recently on the forum there is only so much a coach can do.... Plus CG only got his senior coaching license a few months ago.. And I know because we did the course together!!!

Wanna throw some other great coaches that should have their foot in door as you say - E. Rosso (City) or S. Black (Sturt)... ER has produced a champion and consistent team so why not, SB is/was a brilliant player and is another great coach so give the woman a try.. How about some State League Coaches too. Para Hills Knights Coach - Must be doing something right to keep the girls up the top of the ladder with only 1 loss all year and what about Parafield Gardens Coach - He has brought a bunch of nobody players up through the divisions over the past few years and they sit quite nicely at 3rd on the ladder, i'd be proud as punch if that was me..

Simply put - there are some amazing coaches at all levels but unless they fulfill the crieteria set then whats the point of continuing to chuck these names around!
