Where to from here?
We've all said our bit on race, fights, Maiwand, BESA etc.
Where to from here now? What should change after this years events? What can clubs do to prevent this from happening?
On a side point, if Maiwand or BESA came back in some form, would clubs play against them? Would they boycott playing even if it meant giving Maiwand or BESA automatic promotion?

Re: Where to from here?
What should happen is every new club entering into the SAASL should pay a $ 3500 deposit in which will slowly be refunded after every 2 years
If a club is found GUILTY of inciting violence then a fine of $2000 shall apply and the club is NOT ALLOWED back into the SAASL until paid, if the club is found GUILTY after a second incident then life ban . The club agreement should also state that in the event of the club being EXPELLED due to voilent acts that no more than 5 players can be in one club... Harsh it may sound but the organisation that we all play under and respect is being ridiculed because of some mindless cowards and to think of all the hard work the SAASL and clubs have done to make it a good name in Australian sport is being ruined

Don't play against them. They have serious chips on their shoulders. The smallest of fouls incite abuse and threats.

Re: Where to from here?
Seeing as they get grants etc etc why not allow them to continue but only at SAASL ground at grange with SAASL reps watching the games...no away games a bit like Mobilong had a few years back i think....perhaps this will not make them feel as though they are being discriminated against but they will be playing under the watchfull eye of the competition governing body?

Re: Where to from here?
I agree, BUT, would they be based there (training etc) in which this will be their home ground, and advantage every game (after some time) OR they are free to train at their own ground, but have to play all games there (away fixture)?handy_man wrote:Seeing as they get grants etc etc why not allow them to continue but only at SAASL ground at grange with SAASL reps watching the games...no away games a bit like Mobilong had a few years back i think....perhaps this will not make them feel as though they are being discriminated against but they will be playing under the watchfull eye of the competition governing body?
i suppose what ever way, it might be the only way.
I would still not be willing to play them i don't think.

IMO i would just make them play every game there but i guess the finer details could be worked out between the club and SAASL...i hear ya about not playing but i think if its going to happen then better in a controlled environment..my 2cBig G wrote:I agree, BUT, would they be based there (training etc) in which this will be their home ground, and advantage every game (after some time) OR they are free to train at their own ground, but have to play all games there (away fixture)?handy_man wrote:Seeing as they get grants etc etc why not allow them to continue but only at SAASL ground at grange with SAASL reps watching the games...no away games a bit like Mobilong had a few years back i think....perhaps this will not make them feel as though they are being discriminated against but they will be playing under the watchfull eye of the competition governing body?

Re: Where to from here?
I was thinking about this last night, I really think all of the clubs need to unite together and show strength/support in unity to stop this from ever happening again.
Let me know what you all think of this:
Invite all Saasl staff, all of the clubs captains & chairman/presidents and sponsors/supporters to Hindmarsh or Grange, once the season is completed - get the Messenger & Advertiser involved, and simply all the clubs to unite, have a banner made and signed by all, with a heading (eg. Kick out Violence) - this will show the entire community what our game means to all of us and that we will not stand for this crap!!
Then for all the clubs to agree and support the decision that any club/team/individual which participates in violence be banned (this is a very simple example, I am sure together we can create a better code of ethics/rules for all to follow).
Those are my thoughts - strength in unity and support for our great game is the only way in my eyes to finally solve this pathetic behaviour of some.
I'll be the first to support any event/petition to clean our game of this crap!
What are your thoughts ladies & gentlemen?

Re: Where to from here?
Code of Conduct needs to be signed by all clubs and participants. If breached, perhaps one warning and heavy fine. If breached a second time, all players, officials or anyone associated with the club in an official capacity are banned for life. If you think the rules are too harsh, dont sign, and dont play in competition. Your choice.

Re: Where to from here?
Personally I would ban EVERYONE from that club for 3 years. Punish them all. No player to be re-registered PERIOD.
Then perhaps it heaps the responsibility back on committee members and players alike.
You would have a clean league within 2 years.
If a player wants to play at an irresponsible club, that practices no discipline within itself, then let the risk fall on the individuals head.
Something dramatic has to change, there should have been a significant change after the BESA incident, its about time somebody showed some balls and put their foot down on cretins like these.
I don't think the above is unreasonable, ZERO TOLERENCE must be exercised. No excuses, no chances

Re: Where to from here?
not really sure what the answer is but- the deposit seems like the best idea, but why refund it ever. ALL clubs to pay it.
Banning all players is just not right. Someone could be not involved whatsoever. What if a brawl occurs and a player is sitting in a pub in new york at the time.
Making them play at grange - no way, why should I go out and give away our home advantage and have to travel down there?

Not quite sure what affiliating under the FFSA would have done to stop that particular incident, but I wonder how the FFSA would have reacted to an affiliated SAASL telling them that they were letting in the same team that was banned the previous year for on-field violence.Buckley push for soccer unity

SA is the rogue soccer state of Australia, and FFA boss Ben Buckley is advocating change.
The Football Federation Australia chief executive was appalled by the brawl that marred an SA Amateur Soccer League division-four clash between Maiwand and Seaford Rangers at the North Adelaide university grounds on Sunday.
But Buckley's challenge is now bringing the SA game together after Football Federation SA - the body endorsed by FFA and FIFA - has not been able to unite the sport.
"It's time for all the football community in South Australia to be united and affiliated," Buckley said. "This violent incident, there's no place for it at any level."
Buckley is seeking a meeting after Sunday's brawl indicated the game was not moving forward because an SA soccer majority had not adhered to the 2003 Crawford Report - a revolutionary document that changed governance and other areas of the game.
The report recommended "existing state soccer federations, associations and leagues, including those currently unaffiliated, undertake to amalgamate with Soccer Australia's (FFA) recognised state member affiliate".
Sunday's episode may have avoided a flashpoint if the game was played under one national constitution - eight years after the Crawford findings were released.
The SAASL distanced itself from FFSA affiliation when the relationship between the feuding bodies hit an all-time low in 2008.
The FFSA was also under threat from its member clubs this year when club chiefs voiced a number of concerns prompting the body to conduct an "independent review".
Buckley is determined to meet officials from the FFSA and the State Government to define a clear pathway for soccer after Minister for Sport Tom Kenyon threatened to withdraw all funding grants from the SAASL after Sunday's events.
Kenyon was planning to meet SAASL officials next week to discuss why the State Government should continue to hand over funding to the association, which is one of the last frontiers outside of the sanctioned FFA.
Powerful Football NSW, Northern NSW Football, Football Federation Victoria and Football Queensland - four bodies housing more than half of the nation's 1.7 million registered players - declared that only a minority of footballers from schools and church soccer associations in those states were not affiliated to the FFA.
And the ACT's Capital Football, Football West, Football Federation Tasmania and Football Northern Territory all stated more than 80 per cent who played the game were affiliated with the FFA and FIFA.

How will the FFA or the FFSA stop this type of behaviour?????? I would like them to explain further than just make these statements, the FFA and FFSA to them see the SAASL and E&D is an untaped pot of gold that they would love to get their hands on and of course up will go the rego fees, this will be used to feed the upstream teams.
Re: Where to from here?
playing and registering in the Collegiate League this season (an FFSA affiliated league) was cheaper than playing and registering in the SAASL.I Love Food wrote:How will the FFA or the FFSA stop this type of behaviour?????? SAASL have said their rego fee of $37.50 (I think) will be frozen for 5 years.

Re: Where to from here?
FFSA won't police games any better. What, they'll force clubs to have a ground steward, BIG DEAL. Will a 120kg club steward stop a 50 person brawl? NO.
Unfortunately without govt grants, a lot of SAASL clubs will struggle to generate enough funding to stick around. So I guess there really is little choice but to join the FFA. There just better be a review of the FFA before that happens.
IMO the clubs and people involved with the clubs should be legally affected by events like those that happened on Sunday. If your club doesn't offer up the 'spectators' that did the crime, then your committee goes to jail (that'll get them pointing fingers). If clubs aren't willing to put that much on the line, then they won't enter.
Money means nothing to these guys - stick them in jail and we might get a different long-term outlook.

Re: Where to from here?
Some of the suggestions here are good, but I think legally it is difficult to ban an entire club or players, etc. Plus, any decision the SAASL makes must be in line with their constitution and rules - I am not sure if the rules allow for banning of clubs, etc.
