Mate let me clarify something as it looks like people misunderstood what i was trying to say.. First i agree that there shouldnt be volence and if there is it needs to dealt with.. But people came on here writting that its always ethnics etc.. It cuts me that because of a few idiots you brand all ethnics as violent etc thats all i was trying to say... I apologise if it came out differently

I would like to apologise for my racial rant.

I do know many people of those races who have very good souls.

I let the emotions get the better of me.

It is because i hate seeing this.

I have seen this happen a number of times now with players from these teams. Unfortunately even if these clowns went to court it is highly unlikely a magistrate would impose the maximum penalty. If i were the player knocked in the head with that bottle i would be consulting my doctor... then getting legal advice and i would say he would have a good shot at charging the offender (if caught) with s23 of the Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935 - Causing Serious Harm - Aggravated because of the use of a weapon with intent which carries a maximum jail term of 25 years. Unfortunately if the offender was found guilty of that charge there is ot a chance of hell a judge would impose that maximum.

And because of that.. that person who used the weapon.. gutless maggot, i hope you get hit by a bus and survive, only to be in a vegetative state for the rest of your life you scumbag.

the game is taking a big hit over this one, some clear cut rules need to be introduced into the saasl covering violence at soccer games now, ALL clubs to abide by them or face the consequences. nothing to do with race its to do with idiots wrecking what should be a family friendly day on a sunday arvo.

My take on it all.

Its terrible to see this sort of thing happen and then reported in the media. You can hardly blame the media, from all reports, it was violent and worthy of some coverage. What sucks is that most of us on here work for our clubs and we work hard to promote our club to the wider community to get more people involved. Incidents like this are a kick to the teeth for all of us who just want to see people playing the game and their club succeeding.

To blame the SAASL is a bit harsh. They can only suspend or penalise people who do something wrong. BESA have threatened legal action against them if they kick them out the league for discrimination. I think a trip to a law firm to tighten their registration conditions which would stand up in court is in order but it wasn't the boys from Grange throwing the punches yesterday.

Unfortunately some teams just consistently let themselves. How do you fix it. You can't ban nationalities from playing. At our club, we have a wide range of nationalities playing and they make up a great part of our club. Croatia, Beograd are known for been a bit volitile at times but both of these clubs have played against each other recently with no incidents. A tough penalty needs to be handed down to the people involved in the fight yesterday. The long term solution shouldn't be knee jerked and isn't as simple as some people think.

It refers to all codes, not just "soccer'!

but I love it how, our game makes the front page, but the knockout of Sturt players, barely made a mention in the weeks paper, in the sport section!

Aussie Rules incidents receive the same coverage when they occur.

Including racial vilification.

I think that banning a club is the wrong thing to do, it does not solve the problem because there is a group of people that want to play and be part of a social event for their members and will just change names to re-enter a league again (something like so called bankrupt business do sometimes).

Of course their going to come back under another name, and legally there is nothing you can do to stop it; unless you have the power to change laws as the State Government is doing with the Bikies.

Instead of banning clubs and organisations, what about banning the players? Any players that assault others, or any players involved in violent incidents should have bans imposed ranging from 1 year to life, for all club sports.

Imagine a club losing 8 players for the remainder of the season? It will hurt, and I'm sure that they'll learn quick.

Banning a club only forces them to come back under a new name, and maybe with more hatred brewing for a few years.

I agree with all the points that ethnicity shouldnt be brought into these discussions.

The issue is that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable in society and as a result the perpatrators should be held accountable

I have no time for the bleeding hearts who suggest why ban player x from playing when it was causing player y and player z who caused the trouble.

If Maiwand wants to be member of the SAASL it must forward the details of those involved.

What lead up to the fight? All I hear is get rid of Maiwand this and that. Are Seaford squeaky clean in all of this? Like I heard on the weekend, just because someone "wins" a fight, doesnt always make them 100% guilty.

It started with a tough tackle. A bit of push and shove by some players in the middle of the park. Then the Seaford GK was bottled from behind and it went even more pear shaped after that.

very sad, this has to happen!

Im all in for players having a tough time with each, banter etc with spectators, but Taking it to this extreme level of violence is just plain stupid and thuggery!

SAASL must do something to kill of this sort of behaviour, but as in past examples, their NOT swift enough when they should be!!

just takes time, is all. with a full-time team in there could have made a media statement and announced preliminary sanctions pending investigation blah blah to the saasl and interested communities this morning. D.A.M just needs to have patience. the SAASL guys probably learnt about it the same way most of us did (on here or on the TV news!).

These guys moan and cry and start making threats. They are F*KING SOFT!!!! i have witnessed it first hand when i played against some of them in a friendly. They are tough in groups of 10 - 30. Unfortunately because they have witnessed atrocities at such young ages they wouldn't hesitate to use a gun or knife. Everyone's comments relating to the ethnicity of these players involved are naive and stupid in my opinion. I wonder how many of you have a 100% indigenous background to this great country of ours? To try to isolate these incidents and lay blame to a team's particular ethnic origins is ludicrous! Given that Australia's first migrants were English, and in turn many football teams roots can be traced back to their English origin, I wonder if all English based clubs would be persecuted should one bunch of bad apples be involved in such an incident? I use the English as an example because many Australian's have English roots in this country but the same can be said for the Italians, Greeks, Asians, Indians etc, etc.

These people don't act this way because of their ethnicity, and many of you may be surprised to find that many of these guys were raised with the same morals as many of us (shock horror!), therefore they would no doubt know the difference between right and wrong. They do these things because they are stupid, insecure and they have a support group around them who are either too scared or too ignorant to tell them that this type of behaviour just isn't on! If I had mates come watch me play and they ever started a physical altercation at one of my games, I would simply tell them that they're not welcome to come watch me play if they're gonna act in that way. The same should be done for guys on our teams who regularly start unnecessary trouble. If you want to play for this club pull your head in! Easy enough to say and enforce in my opinion.

An example of this happened to us on the weekend. We played the Wanderers who were smashing us 5-1 and they had a hot head on their team who unnecessarily started a fight which resulted in the game getting called off. Now both teams had players involved and both teams had players who were trying to break it up but in the end it's the player who started it that let his team down in what would have been a great win for his team. Credit goes to his team mates and supporters who came up to us after the game and apologised for this one bad apple's actions. No doubt his team would have had a word with him as we did to our players involved. No game is ever going to be free of altercations given the passionate game we play, but there is a huge difference between players having a bit of a push and shove and an all in brawl where one's intention's are to cause as much damage to another person as possible. Most of us know where to draw the line but unfortunately there are some psycho's who don't and they need to be punished strongly if this type of behaviour is to cease. Team culture has a big part to play but before we condemn a club's ethnic origins lets strip it back to the individuals involved in these incidents. If they're stupid enough to act in this manner, how about they be man enough to put their hand up to except the punishment so that their whole team doesn't have to be racially vilified or condemned.

Hi guys. I play for seaford. Just thought I'd let you know that keeper has been discharged now and he will be ok . A hard tackle escalated from handbags to 3-4 lot their players swinging at anyone near them. I got ko'd from a king hit. They tell me this one player lined me up from 20 yards away. Received a few dodgy teeth and a bad concussion. I obviously didn't see our keeper get hit but from all accounts he was'nt even getting involved. Their spectators and most of their players were trying to attack with anything they could get their hands on. Corner flags were ripped out and snapped in half. This sort of behavior should never happen. Most of their players were just running through and king hitting unsuspecting players. Really disappointing day. This was the worst thing I have ever witnessed at a football game.

Yes, very sad day for all and the world game.

Hope all are well, and you all get back into your boots quick.

Some sort of investigation should be conducted, with the eventual banning of any player that resorted to violence.

Glad you and the keeper and anyone else is ok.

Have you considered taking legal action?
