I have played this game and coached for 30 years and yes Refs do make errors, and yes some days are worse than others, but after what I witnessed today, at this club, this game needs to be seriously looked at.

Freekick count at fulltime 29-1, no team is that dirty or that clean.

No offence to the boys of the oposition they indeed played a great game as did the other, but the staff are a disgrace to put you into that situation.

If this association had any type of professionalism they would never leave a top of the table clash unappointed, plain and simple, makes no difference what age or grade. Laugh or choke it just shows once again the lack of understanding by this association, shame, cos the kids are great.

Absolutely should be reported at that age...this is exactly where the coach should be putting a stop to it. If he is not prepared to (it means he probably encourages it) someone else should. If it's not stopped it will only get worse!

No tolerance for racial abuse or bullying...

Definately belive in football karma...saw a classic of this yesterday where a lad who had been shouting nasty abuse at a player last weekend (at the cup semi-final) ended up with his just deserts yesterday. What goes around comes around and at the end of the day there is something to be said for teaching everyone "sporting behaviour". The football Gods will get you in the end!! :D :wink:

Thought about it, and have decided to act. The club will be putting in a report; if players are allowed to get away with it at this age, what will they try later?

Two very important lessons my son learnt yesterday at what should have been an awesome clash between two great teams fighting for top spot. 1. It doesn't matter how hard you've worked or how much you deserve a fair game - certain adults will sometimes interject with their own agendas and spoil it for you. 2. Justice isn't always served. I've never before witnessed such a disgusting act of bias, from a person acting as a referee, as I did in this match. A group of young lads playing a great game and repeatedly being pulled up on ridiculous claims of rule-breaking while the other team was rewarded with free after undeserved free. This is supposedly a time my son learns to develop his love of the game and yesterday a great disservice was done to a team of great lads.

Problem is, he said, she said, who heard this chat? Did the referee step in, if not why not?

What if the same players claim it was retaliation to their own racial taunts, does this make those allegations true?

Did anyone alert the coach of either side to any of this at the game? How can a coach step in if they are unaware?

Such a claim of racism yet no report on the team sheet? Did you forget about such serious claims?

There's always two sides of a story, and like I always say "it's an emotional game, but lets remember that its the kids game".

In regards to the refereeing; it's been a while since I've been able to say that the referee has had a perfect day. When I got to the game I was surprised to find that the FFSA had not allocated an official for a game between tow teams on equal points at the top, I could already envision the problems of having inexperienced parents officiate the game. However, there is a parent that is a registered FFSA referee, and he volunteered to officiate.

Was he perfect? No, who is.
Did he make mistakes? Yes, who doesn't.
Were his decisions biased? I don't know, but I've heard that said of the referees our Senior team have had lately.

To be fair, there were decisions that I wouldn't have called, but then again I don't have the guts to be a referee.

Yesterdays game was a ridiculous event. The pressure on the referee from the screaming sideline was enough to put anyone off, and I reckon probably steered the game into the poor behaviour it became on the pitch.

Was there pushes in the back? Yes, definitely. Maybe some referees would have not called them, but this one did.
Was there players using language to try and get the upper hand? Yes, and even towards the referee.
Was there dangerous tackles? Most definitely, especially as the frustration increased.

Some of the players need to learn respect, using racial terms to try and frustrate a player and get a adverse reaction in an U13 game is wrong and should not be tolerated. Shame that one or two talented players had to resort to this type of behaviour. If they continue they will soon find that they'll not be playing high level adult soccer for long.

The reaction of the parents was, as one child put it, "scary". They yelled at the referee, screamed at him, called him "disgusting", laughed at our parents, accused us of cheating, of setting up the game.
Then after the game they stood around longer than normal, creating an intimidating atmosphere. Some of the players where genuinely scared of walking to the car-park because of them, one told me that "I'm scared".

We had to stay longer to ensure the safety of the referee; most likely unwarranted but that was the feeling we all had.

At the end of it all, the kids suffered because the game became more important to the adults than the kids.

As I have said many times, here and to the FFSA; get rid of the junior ladders and points system, leave the games as friendly and bring in a modified cup system.

We have a governing body to represent and take care of our game, if people think that there is corruption or illegality in a match, by officials or clubs, then make a report and hand it in.

Making unsubstantiated claims on here opens up a big can of worms, which brings the game into disrepute, starts defamation processes and shows that we've forgotten what junior sports is about.

Well done to the coach for apologising to the players and thanking them on a good game.

That's because both kids from both teams did no wrong, it was above the kids, they came to play a great game unfortunately that was not allowed by the higher influences of a club.

The coach did not apologise, the coach thanks the kids for a great game as he knew they did no wrong.

Don't come on here with your bs rants of Refs make errors the whole situation was shady, do you make all parents who are refs come in uniform?

If you had nothing to hide why not allow the request to change refs at halftime? you know why plain and simple, because you would not want our ref to make mistakes either right? A real honest club would have said no problems heres the whistle, we have nothing to hide.

Firstly, no one asked me. Secondly the Club Delegate that was asked by your team manager, the delegate stated that "the official is a qualified and official FFSA referee, if you have someone with similar qualifications to take the role a change can happen".

If you seriously think that the parents, the club and the coaching staff planned to cheat to get a result, I'm deeply sorry for your frame of mind.

If you continue to accuse us of cheating and deceiving; I request that you put it in writing with your full name and details, so that we can resolve this in the correct and lawful manner.

Stiff shit. I really do think parents need to shut the hell up and just let kids play. If anyone racially slurs another, the player should be sent off and the club fined. Now seriously, it is an Under 13 game. Whoever wins the title this year, is everyone going to remember it say in 15 years time?....I think not. Kids remember coaches that have made a difference, they remember certain goals, phases of play and team bonding. Winning is great don't get me wrong but the old quote "whether you win or lose have dignity and respect for your opponents". Racial slurs still occurs in this country even after all the crap the early italians, greeks, europeans had to deal with when they came to Australia. There is no place for this is our country and if you ask me poor language(swearing) should be forbidden and those that use it punished......

From what I can see, accusations have been fired from both sides of the fence before either Club has officially lodged a complaint so don't know why one needs to warn the other to put it in writing. Interesting to know whether or not this would have been dealt with this way by seeking public opinion in Round 1. That said, get rid of the racists from our sport NOW.

You are correct - this is all about the children and much time is spent educating them on respecting the ref and his decisions. We were left to explain to this group of boys yesterday how the game they just played was different due to the blatant inequality in penalties given by the ref. The supporters you so feared were simply reacting to jibes enamating from your own supporters. It should/could have been handled very differently by the home club.

Having had to experience racism when I was at Primary and High school, I do not want my kids to go through it. I especially don't want them to experience the way it was dealt with back then, we had no one to report it too back then, so it lead to a lot of violence and gangs.

I've heard it before on the pitch and seen it at U19 level at the club, I do not want to see it at the Junior level.

I'm not the sort to write a report about it, I'm the old school type that hates 'dobbing' and whinging. However, when you see how a child is affected by what has been said over the course of 20 minutes of a game, things change.

Decisions seem harder when it involves some nationalities, I could be wrong but that's how I feel.

I've been called a wog, dago and other things when I was young I gave back what I got, these days I don't hear it much around the place. But when it comes to our kids getting called generic racist terms by people that we help and our kids are taught to help and assist, I need some feedback on what I should do.

One thing the game did for me, after hearing what some of the kids were called, it changed my views about some people. It will take while to change it back.

Couldn't agree more Veggos.

I'm not affiliated to either club, but I don't think allegations like these should be made on a public forum especially when an offical complaint had not been made. There may be an element of karma however as I believe the accused team have made similar allegations in the past about abuse of their players. 2 wrongs don't make a right though.

Toros have clearly made a lot of progress and are on the brink of being promoted to the 1st division, so plaudits to the coach. I'm not entirely sure why the club seems to think everyone is against them, from other clubs to the FFSA. From memory this is about the 3rd or 4th time I've read about how they have been robbed, cheated, abused etc etc etc. So, either it's all true, which is a terrible reflection on some of the other clubs in that division, part of it is true and it's the boy that cried wolf scenario or despite the boys doing so well there is some insecurity around the parent group, which will probably be passed on to the boys. I hope it's the middle option and that it's a rare occurence that gets blown out of proportion.

As for the ref scenario, West Adelaide v Adelaide City was missing a ref for their first encounter this season and if we are concerned about winning trophies then that is a true top of the table encounter (or was at the time), but i don't recall reading anything about it.

There's no place for alleged racism on a football field, but if parents are not behaving with dignity on the sidelines and putting massive amounts of pressure on boys then there is always a chance that the ugly side of children can come out.

All this crap on a junior forum doesn't help.

It's sad that it has to get to this stage, as mentioned previously, I made up my mind this morning after reading the input to my question.

I requested that the Club Delegate put in a report. The other club should also put in a report with details.

No place for racism in sport, and almost no place for parents. :(
