Haven't they started trials? Burton park? I know the scout involved, have told him to not only do trials but go to as many prems/even state league games as possible.
Re: adelaide united womens coach
What's the diff....We're all doomed. The sports dead in this State...We're a laughing stock and it doesn't matter who coaches coz we're not producing players that are capable of competing in the NSW Contry or Tasmanian prems.
The Reds will be cellar dwellers til the day they fold.
If teh person tipped to get the gig coaches (with all his medals and certificates and quals) then we'll just get there quicker.

Always positive SG! But yeah, I agree that it can only be another waste of time as it's already August and they haven't even picked a coach, trained, done anything...How can they really be competitive? And i also agree that the state of women's football is terrible, did it use to be much better with sawsa?

Yeah trials are underway. I think last week was newbies that havent had played for AU yet and the rest join in next week. Something like that anyway.Spurs23 wrote:Haven't they started trials? If you can see positives please let me know.
All I ask is that you look at the final Sensations playing list and ask where those players are now? A number of them should be playing in AU. Not kids. SA has been playing palyers (young ones) in the wrong competitions for far too long.
AU is not for kids...I repeat not for kids.

I would contact Airton Andrioli at FFSA. He seems to be running the trial process atm.

I would imagine that it's :airton.andrioli@ffsa.com.au. He is in charge of player development at FFSA, so his contact details should be listed on the website if the one I've given isn't correct.

Re: adelaide united womens coach
FFSA are pathetic.
Not wanting to give the team to a local coach and now can't even find anyone. If they gave it to someone 2 months ago, like ppl said on the forum and around the clubs, by now maybe there would be a team. The funny ( ) thing is that some coaches have applied for the job, including KM I heard...
Is it really better having no one than having him? Or any Prem coach IMO.
It's a disgrace, no wonder so many players just don't want to be involved, who would wanna play and get smashed every week? Unfortunately now there's no much hope...
it's all FFSA's fault IMO. I totally agree with those who say they should just go home.

I'll say it now and I'm sure most of you will agree - It is going to be another LOOOOOONG season for the Lady Reds. Tbh, I see maybe a draw or 2 at best if they are lucky against Perth and/or Melbourne Victory. Preparation heading into the season has been poor it would seem as other W-League teams are training now for the season whereas Adelaide are just starting trials. It will be interesting to see which players are retained, dropped/leave and on their way in.

Re: adelaide united womens coach
I dont think it's a matter of just giving the team to a local coach regardless about how much experience they have or how many trophies they have under their belt..
Pretty sure that FFA have certain criteria that the W-League Coaches must have within their coaching qualifications much as the A-League coaches do..
I know quite a few of the girls out there and I really do hope they have a better season (frankly it cant get much worse!) but regardless most are there for the right reasons and hopefully once a coach is appointed and the team is selected and they are given an oppotunity to settle they can get down to the bump n grind before the season starts... despite how late it is :?

Re: adelaide united womens coach
I can't be concrete on this but from what I've heard Perth have not had trials yet and Melbourne have only just had theirs! Regardless of the opinions on the organization/administration as a hopeful player support from everyone would be greatly appreciated!
"Just ask yourself, have you hugged your goalkeeper today?"
Re: adelaide united womens coach
The "local coach" thing is not about trophies/experience but about giving local people who know local players the opportunity they deserve. Talk to the players and they'll tell you what they think of coaches, teams etc. You don't need to be an expert...as a player you would know if someone is "good", someone is "great", someone is shiraz etc. There are people out there who are respected and that the players would be happy to play for. And others who are full of it and showed it to everyone already. Surely FFSA (then again...maybe not!) should be able to help/mentor the right person if there really isn't anyone in the local game able to do better than what they did so far. Local coaches include ppl who won national championships etc. Personally I think that a couple of Prem coaches would do just fine with the right set up, the problem maybe is the set up considering that it's August and they are trialling kids and (no offence) social division players...The problem is not much the coach, but the lack of set up IMO.Super_Trooper wrote:I dont think it's a matter of just giving the team to a local coach regardless about how much experience they have or how many trophies they have under their belt..

Regardless though, whoever is going to be the coach or play for this team this year is not going to change reality. Unfortunately, they are doomed. Let's face it, when we had Adelaide Sensation a lot of ppl complained as usual, but they were FAR BETTER than AU and SA was not a joke. If you really think that "they can get down to the bump n grind before the season starts" then (no offence again) you either don't know much about preparing for a tournament (u ever played/coached/been involved in a high level tournament?) or you are dreaming. Ask anyone who knows and they'll fill you in.

Re: adelaide united womens coach
You oh-so positive outlook for our future lady reds is refreshing - please tell me more about the impending doom!
Regardless of what credentials I may have - to think that once these players are selected that they dont know themselves that they have to work bloody hard (aka bump n grind) to get anywhere close to having a semi-reasonable start to the season is i dunno pretty harsh/disrespectful/callous.. not sure which word to use on this occasion!!
Most of the players that will be selected know they are behind the proverbial 8-ball with coaching, development and with such a late start for their squad i really think it's unfair to throw them into failed category before the season has even started.
I agree 100% that there are some great coaches out there not only at prem level but state and social levels too... Are they ready to take on an A-League team --- yep probably but who are we to say who has already applied, who is within the selection board and all that blah blah crap
I think FFSA are showing initiative in allowing players and other coaches to move into roles where they are helping to coach and manage the younger developing players e.g. Neits and Leps with with recent state team - they gotta start somewhere!!
Call me optomistic but I really do want this team to succeed and we might not have the depth and development that some our eastern couterparts have but their really are some brilliant players being developed and coming thru the systems including FFSA and Eliz & Districts, Southern Leagues etc
Think of puppies and try to smile today Bad Egg... There are much more terrible things in world

ST, puppies and smiles don't help with the W-League.
You can be positive or even optimistic but that doesn't make up for all the rest that is lacking.
I said this before and I think in SA there are the players/coaches to do reasonably in the W-League, but unfortunately the set up is a joke. This is just about as optimistic as it gets.

Re: adelaide united womens coach
Unfortunately the W-League coach at minimum requires a Asian B License with 2 years experience coaching elite women or the Asian A License....
Cute puppies and smiles will not help anyone skim through on that one!

Re: adelaide united womens coach
Everyone will probably shoot me down in flames, but here goes...
I know from talking to many people that there is a growing sense of frustration, but maybe, just maybe it's not all down to FFSA dragging their feet?
I was chatting about this recently and some interesting ideas were discussed.
Step back a little and look at the big picture - the W-League is meant to be a competition which is going to help identify/produce future Matildas and create an environment where existing Matildas can get the level of competition they need to remain competitive. With the Matildas currently ranked in the top 10 in the world, then surely FFA want the W-League to be the best it can be so they can maintain or hopefully improve on this position. So it's in the interests of FFA to ensure that the right infrastructure and facilities are put into place to support this - that includes the coaches for every team. So don't you think that the FFA will be wanting to have the final say or at least considerable influence on who is appointed to the role? Maybe finding someone that both FFSA and FFA are happy with is why it's taking longer than most of us who are not 'in the loop' would like? Who knows?
It will be a tough season again, so as soon as someone is appointed (and it will be just for 1 year initially dont forget) everyone needs to give them and the players selected their support - they will have enough pressure without constant negativity from outside.
