St Michaels Old Scholars
strong rumours circulating that a consortium led by SMC old scholars are looking to put a club in the amateur league?
i no there was smosh b4... and they then amalgamated? or switched to royal park???
but this new group have the supposed backing ($$$$) and may be looking to enter this year (if possible) or next year (more likely)
there is a core of ex SMC boys (with fed experience) who will be willing to join this team if it gets off the ground... also there could be feeder program in place?
sounds promising... but we have 2 wait and see if this eventuates this year or next?

hahahaha the club may be looking at the idea of being like the basque club 'athletic bilbao' and have only players who went to SMC play for it!manU4life wrote:sounds good, not a scholar but being in the area would be good to see....hope they have a c grade so a scrubber like me can join
not sure, but it has been rumoured!

mechis era 96. congrats on winning the 7 a side comp as well you guys were class.
Saturdays would be the way to go. the feeder sides would naturally be the school sides i would assume?
I still think it may be possible to enter a team this season just give the league a buzz. with the ffsa business going on and sunday teams switching plus possible amalgamation of the collegiate league i would say that things are still up in the air at the moment.

I'm tied up for this season real one but down the track you never know. I'll ask about and see if there are any nibbles for you. My gut feeling is that if something were set up properly former students would flock to the side being in the saturday comp, particularly once they've had it with playing for fed sides and the like. I'll keep in touch and look forward to hearing about the progress of the club!

not sure yet... this is 1 of the issues that needs to be discusseds.pellegrino wrote:Which saturday comp are St Michaels Interested in... SAASL or CSL? I think it would be great if they were in the Collegiate League, renew some great rivalries from the school days and you won't have to travel all around the state to play your games

I believe with the Amateur League very close to joining the FFSA,there will be only one body controlling the game in this State. The FFSA will look after the professional Leagues(Super,Premier and State)while the Amateur League will look after the Amateurs. There will be no other body being recognised as such.So make up your own mind what it means for the Collegiate clubs?
The EVOLUTION is well overdue. School boy comps should be left to the schools to run.Penalty11 wrote:I believe with the Amateur League very close to joining the FFSA,there will be only one body controlling the game in this State. The FFSA will look after the professional Leagues(Super,Premier and State)while the Amateur League will look after the Amateurs. There will be no other body being recognised as such.So make up your own mind what it means for the Collegiate clubs?
