That is why it would be good to see their results pulled now, it would be good to go into the last day and know exactly where the bar sits in terms of what is required and I dont think that it is fair that Asteras results are counted if they have not played all teams the same amount of times. I know the current scenario benfits your team in a huge way, but I think you would be able to see where I am coming from.
I know where you are coming from but my point is that there is nothing to appeal against. The league can not just strike out a team's results because they have forfeited two games.
As for the bold point, the scenario you are proposing benefits your team - assuming Asteras don't play on the final day.

Take these goals away and we would be sitting on 41 and they would be sitting on 34.
You are actually equal top with TTG at the moment and well ahead of them on goal difference.
, the old munno para must be feelin the heat from you blue eagles, they are obviously s h i t t i n themselves now you have caught up with them, dont know why he's panickin, its theirs to lose, if they win all their games they'll win it, simple as that. stop crying para and get on with it!
lol, i think it must be because Munno Para had a bad experience on the last day of a season once against the gully in the A's when they come to tilley park on the last day of the season only needing a draw and we beat them and won it on goal difference!!!! heheheheheheheh

That's correct but there is a possibility that we win every game from here on in, Gully win every game from here on in and it comes down to goal difference. Should TTG pump Asteras and we cop another forfeit (or vice versa) it could cost someone the league. It should be a level playing field for all.
In most cases the team that regularly forfeits usually loses 3 or 4 nil regularly, but this team loses by over 10. That is a huge disadvantage when they don't show.
This is bigger than my club or our league battle though, this shite happens every year across the whole Amateur league. Every year I see a few threads where regular forfeiting throws a disadvantage/advantage to a club and the standard 2-0 just doesn't cut it (especially in the extreme cases).
What I would like to see is the forfeit score to reflect the average losses sustained by the forfeiting club. Usually these clubs get regularly beaten so it should work but in the case of the anomaly (a team with a winning record forfeiting) it could default back to 2-0.

Feeling the heat? Not likely. But anyone with half a brain would understand that if two equal teams win all their remaining games then goal difference can become a massive factor. Also, anything can happen in football.
So you don't think it should be a level playing field? I am interested to hear your reasons why in what I am guessing will be an articulate, well rounded response.

Ha ha that was a cracking final day! Sure the result didn't go the way I would have liked but that is what you want: everyone knew what was required and win, lose or draw the team that came out on top of the ladder was the best team. It is all about having a level playing field.

I don't think any "set" amount of goals work, as mentioned I would like to see an average applied to the forfeiting teams losing margins.
yeah thats a good idea. I'm sure people on here will say it's not though...but to me, that seems the most logical thing to do...minimum of 2-0 or the teams average..whichever is higher..........cue gully and Blue Eagle's disapproval

I have never said it's not logical, or that I disagree with the idea - but the current league rules state that a forfeit is a 2-0 win and that's the rules we are playing by this season.
I suggest that you ask your club rep to bring up the issue at the next SAASL meeting, and see if other clubs agree to get the rule changed.
So is it the same if someone has an A team player in the B team, is that not fair as well????
Get on with the games in hand, win them and you shouldn't have to worry about goal difference. In 2 weeks time there could be a new leader at the top of the Reserve league anyway.
Still some hard games in both divisions to go so i expect there will be changes still to come in the table.

yeah I'd have to agree with that..can't change rules mid year but it is something they should look at for next season

No, that has nothing to do with it...most clubs have players that play in both grades...and wouldn't matter who was on top. Get on with games in hand?? We are speaking from personal opinion... This is a forum where things are discussed..Forfeits in football games is a legitimate thing to discuss on a football forum...and I think the main point here is that teams are not punished enough for forfeiting games...This is something I have always believed.
