long term contracts

Post by stiring the porridge »

Heres a question;

Should clubs be able to sign Juniors to long term contracts, for example 2-3 years, nothing says they have to be signed, but why not have the option.

Does the 'unfinancial clause' hold up?

For example a club paid all fees for a player (cos they seen potential) for many years and then the player says 'I'm off', does the unfinancial clause hold up, is that player required to return those fees?

I'm sure many clubs would look into signing players at 15s 17s for a period of years, if possible.

Is it wrong if a club want to sign a player for a longer term to reward their work?

Especially if they supported that player from U10-15s, why wouldn't they want the next 2 years as return for their work and hopefully keep him for their seniors.

Still no answers though, is there such a rule as 'unfinancial' and what are the foundations for this if there is.

So, what's the real reason for asking the question?

We all know the answer to 2-3 year signings, every club would look into if possible.

tbh you could probably only sign parents up to the contractual arrangement.... like a mobile phone lol..... then we'll have FFSA or something having to sort out contractual disputes.

if we already see some parents getting upset about how much time their child gets on the pitch, imagine theres a legal contract involved.... financial or not. i would think if a club really wanted a kid they'd just look after the kid to the best of their ability... if that doesnt work, so be it. i've seen some clubs waive fees for kids... not cause they are standout players, but more because they are a club that wants to provide the child with the option to play the sport when their parents perhaps cant afford the fees - saw it a few weeks ago with what was maybe under 8's or something, coach said to parent "the club said they would pay the fees for young Johnny this season, so dont worry about it. we understand." - and that to me said wow, a club that cares, not about young johnny being the next socceroo, but about young johnny getting a fair go to play.
