SAASL Premier League Round 12 Preview
PARFIELD GARDENS vs PARA HILLS EAST
Current League Standing- Gardens 1st, PHEast 7th
Recent meetings- 2011 Rd 3 Gardens won 4-1 at Para Hills Oval
GARDENS are four points clear at the top of the table and some will feel they are certainties to make it back to back championships but keep those thoughts on ice for now.
A quick look at the table at the same point last season shows Salisbury Florina held a four point lead over Parafield Gardens after 11 rounds and yet Gardens won the title by five points.
Having said all of that Parafield have won five games on the trot and they enter this game full of confidence.
Easties on the other hand are going through a tough period that has seen it win only one game of their last six but more alarmingly they have managed only one goal in their last five encounters.
Gardens will look to Paul Eboma, Jarred Foster and the inform Matt Tape to keep the ball rolling while Easties will be looking for Dave Mogg, Chris Miller and new recruit Jarred Noel to be in top form if it hopes to take anything from the game.
Gardens to make it six straight wins.
Prediction- Parafield 3-0
SALISBURY FLORINA vs PONTIAN
Current League Standing- Florina 10th, Pontian 2nd
Recent meetings- 2011 Rd 3 Pontian won 4-2 at Ferryden Pk
2010 Rd 13 Florina won 6-0 at Underdown Pk
2010 Rd 6 Florina won 2-1 at Ferryden Pk
THE general consensus was that Florina was traveling better and that they would move clear of the relegation zone, well a loss to Fulham last week has seen them fall to the bottom of the table and the reality has hit that they are in a dog fight for survival.
They face a Pontian side that like Florina lost 1-0 last week as they went down to Gardens in the top of the table clash.
Both teams can take heart from the table at this point last season.
Pontian sit four points adrift of Gardens while Florina sit bottom of the table.
At the same point last season eventual champions Parafield sat four points adrift of Florina before going on to win the League by five points, while Elizabeth Vale sat rooted to the foot of the table before rallying to finish fifth a whopping 10 points above the relegation zone.
Florina will feel like this is a huge chance for an upset but Pontian are a tough proud unit and expect them to keep in touch with Gardens.
Prediction- Pontian 2-1
ELIZABETH VALE vs INGLE FARM
Current League Standing-Vale 5th, Farm 4th
Recent meetings- 2011 Rd 3 Vale won 5-3 at Walkleys Pk
2010 Rd 14 Vale won 2-1 at Moflin Rd
2010 Rd 5 I Farm won 1-0 at Walkleys Pk
INGLE Farm travel to Moflin Road on the back of some great form that has seen them win five of their last six encounters.
Their opponent Elizabeth Vale had strung five wins together through rounds five to nine to be seen as a legitimate title contender only to throw up two pitiful displays losing 1-0 to Easties and 4-0 to rival Elizabeth Downs.
Paul Simpson’s Farm have been banging goals in with Luke Air the chief architect in a golden run that has seen him score 10 goals in seven games.
Couple Air with the ever dangerous Matthew Cocks and Lachlan Campbell and the Vale appear in for another tough day at the office.
The home team has had their depth tested in recent weeks and it’s fair to say it has come up short but with young Michael Francis, Mark Burbridge and veteran Daniel Nicholls you would expect the proud Vale club to strike back this week.
Expect a better showing from the Vale but the Farmers are buzzing at the moment.
Prediction- Farm 2-1
WEST BEACH vs ELIZABETH DOWNS
Current League Standing- Beach 9th, Downs 3rd
Recent meetings- 2011 Rd 3 Downs won 1-0 at Argana Pk
2010 Rd 15 Downs won 3-1 at Argana Park
2010Rd 6 Downs won 2-0 at Lockleys Oval,
WEST Beach comes into this encounter in the unusual situation of coming off a win having shocked Para Hills East 1-0 last week.
They face a Downs outfit who effortlessly brushed rival Elizabeth Vale aside 4-0 with Nathan Day bagging a hat trick.
West Beach will fancy their chances against a team who has been unable to win two games in a row since back in round three and the Beach boys will be hopeful of breaking a six game winless home record in 2011.
Elizabeth Downs welcomed back veteran Bert Fuda last week and his physical presence made a big difference to the maroons.
Downs coach Alan Mottram threw his team around a little last week with Brenton Agars and Fuda starting up front and it will be interesting to see if he sticks with the same line up for this one.
This will be a tight encounter but expect the Downs to keep their slim Championship hopes alive.
Prediction- Downs 2-1
FULHAM vs ELIZABETH GROVE
Current League Standing- Fulham 8th, Grove 6th
Recent meetings- 2011 Rd 3 Grove won 4-1 at Dauntsey Rd
FULHAM ended an eight game winless run with a 1-0 win over fellow cellar dweller Salisbury Florina and they face a Peckers outfit that are searching for their first league win since the 1st of May!
Fulham has welcomed back veteran Robbie Saraceno and they will be hoping he can follow up his goal against Florina with plenty more in the run in to secure their stay in the top flight.
The Peckers will see this game as an opportunity to secure their spot in the top division and they will be hopeful predator Boree Kieng continues his goal scoring form.
The Peckers thumped Fulham 4-1 back in round three but confidence levels at the Grove have dived since then and with Fulham only losing one of its last three you could argue they enter this game as favorites.
Fulham to make it two on the spin.
Prediction- Fulham 3-2

Some teams have reserves who are good in the reserves, but not able to make the jump to the first team.
Do you think there will be a shift in form with certain teams on the ladder with 8 games to go and if so who do you think will win or drop points?

Re: Premier League round 12 review
I think Parafield Gardens, Ingle Farm & Elizabeth Downs all have good player Depth to get them through to the end of the season.
Fulham, Pontian, & Vale are the interesting ones for me with
Pontians Res. 6th & 1st Team 2nd,
Fulham's Res. 4th & there 1st Team 8th,
Vale Res. 9th & there 1st Team 5th.
It will be interesting to see how it plays in the coming matches when Player Depth is required...
If the theory is correct we will see Fulham make it's way up the Premier League Ladder & both Pontian & Vale on the way Down.
Like I said though it's just a theory...

Re: Premier League round 12 review
It is an interesting theory.
Fulham have some players coming in getting over injuries etc, Downs are a strong unit, and Ingle Farm are a consistent side.
The top 4 is very strong though, Parafield are in a good spot at the moment however the teams below them are quite able to shake it up.
The teams like Elizabeth Grove and Para Hills east interest me, started well at the beginning, I wonder how they will go for the rest of the year...
The second half of this year will be very interesting, exciting times/clashes ahead.

Re: Premier League round 12 review
It is a very interesting theory liverpool84 .
The Vale are the classic to this, with there Reserves sitting in 9th spot & there 1st Team 5th & on the slide with 2 loses at Home,
indercating not much player Depth to draw from there Reserves.
As seen last week against the Downs with 2-3 starting 1st Team players out & seemingly not able to compansate for those outs shown by the 4-0 loss.
There 1st 15 is good enough as they have proved it's wether they can keep them on the park dodging injury & suspension for the rest of the year?
They have those outs back this week, so should be competetive against the Farm.
Only Time will tell...

Re: Premier League round 12 review
I have to agree with nugget here. I think the quallity of the reserves will definately come into play with 8 games to go. There would not be many 1st teams that will play every remaining game with their best 11, due to injuries or suspensions, lets face it most teams have a couple of older players who may not be able to finish out the season. It will be whether they have enough depth to be able to be competitive on any given week. That could be the deciding factor.KING NUGGETT wrote:It is a very interesting theory liverpool84 .
