Clichy isnt half the player he was 2-3 years ago, he can be easily replaced. Its the other players leaving that are more of a concern.haywood djablowme wrote:Clichy gone to Citeh overnight for 7mil WTF Mr Wengerto another rival is what gets me and how the F do Everton get 24mil for Lescott and we get 7mil for a PL winner and France International..

Funny now to read a comment back in 2009 made by Clichy when Ade left: "I believe if you are a player who thinks only about money, then you could end up at Manchester City."![]()
Gibbs is a very suitable replacement and needs to be given the chance BUT he cant get thru 2 games on the trot without gettin injured.. Baines from Everton or that Newcastle LB would be ideal
We are becoming a bit of a feeder club to Citeh - Toure, Viera, Adebayor, Clichy and possibly Nasri
Not a happy Gooner, get busy Wenger or your going to miss the boat

we have gibbs, traore, bothelo, already on the books as left backs as well evina and cruise who have good raps on them.Ian_Wright wrote:Clichy isnt half the player he was 2-3 years ago, he can be easily replaced. more then happy with gibbs as a replacement and would be good to see him develop as a first choice lb although his injusries are a concern. have only read about bothelo but seems he is a decent player and traore has already played plenty of games as a back pl lb
not ideal to lose clichy when other important players are in doubt but not the biggest loss.

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
7 mil is cheap but then again he only had a yr on his contract left.
Same can happen with Nasri, they rkn he's pretty much going to United
if Gibbs is started at left back this season then arsenal has major problems

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
Gibbs will not be starting as left back, Arsenal are already seeking other replacements. Wenger has his eye on Lyon left back Aly Cissokho and apparently we have been looking at the Newcastle left back (forgot his name)

cool story broIan_Wright wrote:Newcastle left back is Enrique.....just looked it up.

This coming from a supporter whos side cannot field more than two of it's "younger" prospects in its side cos they simply cant do the job!Le King wrote:7 mil is cheap but then again he only had a yr on his contract left.

Haha, no probs.
Re: Arsenal 2011/12
Its virtually the same situation as when Cole went to Chelsea.
Both left to double their wage and were replaced by talented but injury prone 21 yo internationals with our best left-sided CB capable of backing him up if injured.
First a Englishman was replaced by a Frenchman and now the Frenchman is being replace by a Englishman...
Im not that fussed about Clichy leaving, City fans will understand why soon enough

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
where did this happen again?

and this one???........

sorry guys but no matter what, #foreverinourshadow
Clichy's fee will go up to 10m pounds apparently, so that aint that bad considering it's his final year of his contract
AW needs to sign someone ASAP now that we have lost one of our senior players

Getting the right mixture into your team of experience and youth, something arsenal doesnt have with all there young players n no older/expereinced playersChaos wrote:This coming from a supporter whos side cannot field more than two of it's "younger" prospects in its side cos they simply cant do the job!Le King wrote:7 mil is cheap but then again he only had a yr on his contract left.

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
The easy answer would be 'with a bucket', but I'm going to pretend I don't understand your question as there is no verb 'to bal'.Der_Tiser wrote:how does one "bal"?Nice One Cyril wrote:Keep on baling![]()

Think of a word like 'exhale', then remove the 'e' and add 'ing'. Then ask me how does one 'exhal'.
Year 3 must be getting repetitious for you

The ladling of water from a boat is properly written as 'bailing' or 'bailing out'. This derives from 'baile', which is an early name for a bucket or pail.
I think this is the word you are looking for....

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
I think that you'll find that either spelling it perfectly acceptable. Maybe not to a pedantic Goon but that's your problem, not mine.Ian_Wright wrote:The ladling of water from a boat is properly written as 'bailing' or 'bailing out'. Re: Arsenal 2011/12
He clearly got confused.
To bail - To remove (water) from a boat by repeatedly filling a container and emptying it over the side.
and
To Bale - To be an overrated British winger living off a Hat-trick scored on the continent.
NB: Similar to the verb "To Walcott" but with much more hype.

happy with the Clichy deal, good money...hopefully get 40m for Cesc, can use 20m on 2 players....get Nasri to re-sign and we are sweet! Need to sign Gervinho and Cahill ASAP!

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
Still it reamins clear you cannot back up your argument here.Le King wrote:yeh its called developing players. Why are Utd viewing to sell Gibson, Evans, O'Shea, Brown, all 3 of which to Sunderland, and loaning out Smalling, among with others yet to appear for first team?
Answer : Besides Fabio on that list, there is no other player there that should even be considered on Utd's books, you seem to be the only supporter I know who is willing to back them up.
If Evra was not around, Utd fans would be well happy to have Gibbs ahead of Fabio or for that fact any other defender you are willing to name to play LB

Nasri to City?

Re: Arsenal 2011/12
Have read contrasting reports this morning, one saying Nasri has all but signed for Man City 150k per week. The other says Arsenal are holding strong and will not sell Nasri at any price and if they did it would not be to an English club???
