MVP AWARD
Last few years it has been talked about having a Most Valuable Player Award voted by the opposition Captain's & Coach's after each game.
I think it would be a fantastic award to be voted by your peers rather than the Referee's .
What's everyone's thoughts on this???

3 votes for you macnuggets the forum guru.....seriously though would be much more meaningfull to the recipient as we all know referees are little heroes who were s_H_I_T PLAYERSKING NUGGETT wrote:Last few years it has been talked about having a Most Valuable Player Award voted by the opposition Captain's & Coach's after each game.

Re: MVP AWARD
it's hard to give a player's player of the year award when you only see players from other clubs twice in one year

Re: MVP AWARD
he means instead of the refs doing it each game. the coaches give 3-2-1 to players of the opposite team that they play each weekthemayor wrote:it's hard to give a player's player of the year award when you only see players from other clubs twice in one year

Re: MVP AWARD
i agree with you on that nugget. as a ref in the federation. its hard to give 3-2-1 after the game cause you dont really pay attention to who plays well but more keeping the game in controlKING NUGGETT wrote:Correct, the Opposition Captain & Coach !!!Pommy10 wrote:he means instead of the refs doing it each game. the coaches give 3-2-1 to players of the opposite team that they play each weekthemayor wrote:it's hard to give a player's player of the year award when you only see players from other clubs twice in one year

Re: MVP AWARD
The reason that this wouldn't work is that for example Elizabeth Downs play Parafield Gardens the last day of the year and Nathan Day has a blinder however if he were to get 3 votes he would leap frog Paul Ebomo for the players player award an win it so Parafield Gardens decide to give the 3 votes to Scott Morrison instead who isn't going to win. This ensures that Paul cannot be leapfrogged and has the best chance of winning the award.
When a ref does it it's an un-biased view on who they thought played the game in the best spirits and contributed most. This enables us to have a result which cannot be tampered with.
***PLEASE NOTE I USED THOSE TWO CLUBS PURELY AS AN EXAMPLE AND IN NO WAY THINK THAT EITHER PARAFIELD GARDENS OR ELIZABETH DOWNS WOULD DO SUCH A THING TO WIN AN AWARD***

Re: MVP AWARD
The award can only be of Value if it is embraced by all the Players & Clubs,
I dont believe Motts, Cooky, Ebomo or Blacky would not choose the oppositions correct MVP's so there player would win the Award, would you ???

Re: MVP AWARD
good idea...I doubt anyone would abuse it...who would want to win an award they didn't win fairly?
