Re: adelaide womens coach
He would be a logical choice- both from the standpoint that he knows the local talent and he has the requisite license...Is there anyone else that fits the bill? And also, what about someone interstate?

Kevin McCormack - SASI Coach
I also heard that. KM W-league coach and head of women's soccer and Chris Goddard SASI coach (or whatever that will be called) in the Prems. I heard it's all already decided...

I think it'd be the right decision. He has much better knowledge on womens football than what Barnett did and I think he will be able to get results for the lady reds.

Re: adelaide womens coach
I personally hope that it will be not a local coach. This position should be occupied by somebody who coached on higher level and he/she has the undertanding what it needs to establish a successful team/players over say the next three years.
I can see that favourism will be applied again and not the most gifted players will be picked. It will be the same same as the current SASI setup and in my opinion will do nothing to improve the W-legaue team situation.
And who is Chris Goddard. Did he coach on national level or in national womens competition or is he another crownie of the system because he is a yes man.
Not impressed at all and i have my doubts if this will work. Also heard on the grape vines that this position of head coach was not yet officially advertised so i am surprised the positions are apparently already given to people.

I would rather see Barnett get it over the Km + CG combination, otherwise if they get it, it will be jobs for the boys ...going backwards.sharp-shooter wrote:I personally hope that it will be not a local coach. Would really like to see a female coach + assistant given the opportunity, start building for the future ( in my opinion )

Re: adelaide womens coach
I agree with you "The General". KM too long in the same job and no improvement. Need fresh blood to impliment a positive culture and environment. Current SASI setup with KM stale and no progress realy. Do not know CG but again need new young generation who has willingness to move forward. Also i agree that in the near future a female coach should be in charge of the Womens team.
Also my understanding is that the new positions will be under the control of Airton who is currently the Technical Director of the FFSA. So hopefully they will pick the right person for the job and do not give it to somebody who is just looking for a job.

IMO - (I stress this)
I would rather see a local coach.
Who do we have that can do it?
It need not be a female either there are male coaches that are good women's coaches. TBH I dont think at this level it should even come into consideration. Would they say no to SAF because he's male? If it means having a handle on the psychology of players (female vs male) then someone with a track record (in coaching women) would be the best one.
As for established names in SA. Well TBH I don't put much faith in the SASI setup at least for football it seems to be jobs for the boys and who you know.
If anyone thinks SASI represents the best they are delusional. Sure they do have some of the best in there but it isnt the best of the best or the best prospects either. Which then suggest that the coaching isn't the best either.
I think for the sake of transparency the selection should be trial based open it up to Prem/Res/Div1 or W-league (hell why not the 17s too)
It will be a nightmare but it will showcase the REAL talent in the state. And I am sure there are plenty of players who
a) didn't go via SASI (by choice or not)
b) just want to play Club football and not be involved in the other political BS.
If existing w-leaguers are good enough they will keep their position, if not well they shouldn't be there then.
If they leave it to SASI (SASI coaches) then we may as well all go home stop playing and let SASI do it all. Because by definition they should have the best team anyway (if you include current Reds).

but that is only my opinion...

Re: adelaide womens coach
That bloke we’re talking about should never be allowed to get near this sport again. We’ve been forewarning of this situation (sasi getting canned) for many years and all the loyal followers (maybe not so loyal now) were slamming me.
You all got what you deserved.
The old SAWSA crew? Well we’re stuck with this mob. Hopefully they can do well without the sasi dude around the traps.
Next subject:
W-League. Hmm Needs to be an influential and capable person. Not because someone has the required licence. Another dude wanted to get the required accreditation many years ago however, the hurdles got far to high and ridiculous. Maybe this was done for a reason. He has since left the women’s game.
KM no WAY
Richie? Have a look.
Chris Goddard is a gentleman.

Re: adelaide womens coach
I think in previous topics many ppl have already expressed their views on who can/should coach.
Some names were also made...
I agree that it HAS TO BE a local women's coach (and not only females - many men coach women's very well!).
It looks though as if everything is already decided :?
Personally CG wouldn't be able to deal with the SASI elite squad...I hope they get someone with some kind of record, not just "yes men" or "gentlemen"...but actually a coach who can get females to play well! For both AU and SASI.

Re: adelaide womens coach
I think you all forget - next year there will be no SASI (technically from 1 July this year actually). I believe after July 1 KM & CG will be voluntarily helping the team with it's U14 boys comp commitments until such time as FFSA appoint someone to the role - maybe this is the basis of the rumours being banded around at the moment?
Will the plan to have an 'elite junior' team (for want of a better description) in the Premier League actually be implemented, or will it all go the same way as the planned W-League team playing in the U16 boys comp this year?

I agree that transparency is the key... the more they tell the soccer community the more we will trust the process. I also agree that it should be trial based as your are spot on - there are many great soccer players that are currently playing Prems, Res & State league!pc9999 wrote:IMO - (I stress this)

KM & CG not the answer in my opinion, give it as a dual roll with metro and city coach

I think he is saying that the current coaches of Metro + City should get the job, working together. I dont know either coach so I cant comment. The only problem with a club coach is that they wont be able to see other games if they are coaching, unless they have a bye ?

I can't see joint coaching working. Ultimately someone has to rule if there is conflict of opinion.
I think perhaps 1 senior coach established and an assistant or 2.
I also wonder if Metro or Ac coaches would be interested.

Val Migliaccio From: The Advertiser June 09, 2011 11:00pm
…..“The body is calling for applicants for the Head of Women's Football title. The winner will coach the Adelaide United women's team and oversee all the development of junior girls in SA.”
Well not seen an advert for this or news on FFSA website but how silly would the FFSA Technical Director Andrioli look if after official press announcements of "call for applicants" they don't follow through and advertise far and wide for the the best person to appoint for the position. One would hope they would use the opportunity to go for a fresh start.

Agreement Ensures Bright Future for Women's Football - FFSA web site news
“Under the agreement all women’s talent development pathways and programs, including the Women’s SASI program, will be integrated under the administration and support of FFSA.” Mr Kenyon said.
Lets keep the perspective on the "technical' side as to whether there is a SASI or not.
Clearly FFSA and Government says business as usual just under FFSA banner
All could change though

Just my opinion, that if they are serious about The Lady Reds being competitive,we should be appointing a coach very soon, and starting to look at players about now.pc9999 wrote:Is there going to be an overlap? The General wrote:juniorsupporter wrote: The only problem with a club coach is that they wont be able to see other games if they are coaching, unless they have a bye ?

In the past they have never had enough time together to gel properly, and play enough proper competitive trial games.
If the season starts end of October, that is only 16 weeks approx. not a lot of time.
Re: adelaide womens coach
1-If they gave it to either of them they could see all players three times at least a season as they play against them in the Prems. I think it would be the best thing for women's football tbh. A local coach that showed he/she can make teams play well and the local players want to play for!pc9999 wrote:Is there going to be an overlap? The General wrote:juniorsupporter wrote: The only problem with a club coach is that they wont be able to see other games if they are coaching, unless they have a bye ?

2-I agree with co-coaching being not ideal, but one could be one of the assistants together with an up and coming female coach. I think for example AC, Metro and Sturt coaches would work well together and bring the best local women's football has to offer. One head coach and two coaches. What a great team!
3-I'm pretty sure they'd be both interested in coaching WLeague. They are very passionate about the game and showed a lot of commitment and ability through the years. And players/people actually respect them.
Actually I heard from a ultra-reliable source that one of them actually inquired about the position in the past and told FFSA more than once that he would love to coach the lady reds...but was never given the opportunity. His name was already mentioned on the forum and if anyone can get any result with the local players I think it's him...
Good luck to whoever gets appointed though...he/she will have the toughest job around!

Re: adelaide womens coach
What qualifications do you need and where do you send applications. Or can you coach without correct certificate like some of super league and premier league teams
.
.
Re: adelaide womens coach
I think what everyone is forgetting also is the head coach would also have to give up his or hers current job. Its not a part time postion....
They would be incharge of the womens development at the elite level for the whole of South Australia.....
Big job really, If its to be done correctly...

Are there any positions advertised at all??? I thought FFSA said there was going to be an "open" applications round but then no position was ever advertised?
OMG so many rumors!!! But yeah, I agree with local coach and assistants!
C'mon FFSA, give us a coach for the WLeague!!! Ppl want to support the team but also to see that the right decisions are made!

This said, as a coach and I can only speak of the one I see weekly the AC coach would be very good. I think he is very intelligent and is definitely a deep thinker.Retired wrote:I think what everyone is forgetting also is the head coach would also have to give up his or hers current job. The part about being in charge of womens development is one which I am vague about surely there would be someone specifically to focus on that rather than try and merge the role given the task of getting a team competitive at the national level.
Re: adelaide womens coach
no not the normal womans development that they already have but from my understanding they would be in charge of overseeing all the "elite" womens development. In other words all the state teams the current sasi squad and the w league squad.
