Actually MB wouldn't call it a forfeit just yet!! The game was called off because of the sudden death of one of the players mothers, who also has a couple of nephews that play & is also the aunty of the president of the club and being a close nit group at Asteras it was asked if the game could be called off!! It is now up to the league to decide if the game will be played at a later date or if TTG will get the points!!

A bit harsh to call it "such poor form" if u don't know the facts!! Yes Asteras might be struggling with points on the park but aren't the type of team to forfeit cos of results!!
Don't have any association with either team but to call the game off was wrong - Asteras should lose the game full stop.

Condolences to those concerned but a minute silence across the grades would have been the way to go..

If Asteras couldn't cover 3 or 4 players that were affected then the club has other issues.
so i can only assume bigpond that if it was your mother who passed away that you and all of those close to you would have played today. sunday division 3, one day after a sudden death you would have played????? mate, thats BS.

condolences to all the people at Asteras, good bunch of lads and certainly not the type to forfeit for no reason. TTG in my opinion should request a rematch given the circumstances. this is what shows TRUE character.....

Im not going to go right into this............ But condolences to the people at Asteras. Im sure they are a great bunch of lads.
Referee did note the game down as a forfeit to both sides, have spoken to amatuer league as well and they have confirmed the same.
All the best for the rest of the season lads and look forward to playing you guys next round. Cheers

well said bigdawg.... like it has been said it is in the federations hands and a forfeit will prob stand as some our b's could have filled in for the a's....honestly its not an issue as there are more important things to worry about in life then a game of soccer..things like this put it all into perspective....the gully have every right to claim the points for this game and we look forward to meeting them later in the year.

B's Para Hills 1:5 Munno Para
A's Para Hills 4:2 Munno Para

With the exception of the idiot who threw a beer can at the linesman, was a friendly bantered game. Always good hearing the opposition whinging about no hot showers, usually means you're winning! Good bunch of lads though and good luck for the rest of the season.

You didn't read what I wrote mate.

What I said was the few that were directly affected and obviously would not play should be able to be covered by other players within the club and not have to forfeit a game.

And what I said if the club cant cover a few players that are not available for personal reasons has then got other issues ie obviously not enough players registered and struggling as it is.

Yes but he's now Knight15

Was hoping you were playing so I would have someone I could outrun, instead you have quick skillful forwards

The penalty in the A's was soft at best - I don't think anyone knew what it was for, but given all the chances we missed a draw was a fair result

In the B's we never got out of first gear, but your guys were far stronger than normal, too many young fit players for me liking

GARDENS vs FLORINA
A's 3-1
Goals - 2 Brad Girdler, Michael Brooks

B's 4-1
Goals - 2 Mich De Jong, Paul Pond, Moe Elbeltags

C's 3-1
Goals - Raeed Alsolami, Bradley Bowles, John Borley

Another 9 points for the Gardens yesterday & A's back at the top of the table. Florina certainly an improved side will certainly win more games in second half of season thanks to Pres & boys for coming in as always. Typically I wouldnt comment on refs but like players refs can have a bad game & that he did yesterday have to be one of the worst performances ive seen in many years for both teams he got too emotional & personal with players & it showed I'm sure he'll improve next week.

Over 35's vs Mod Jets AFC

Noarlunga VS Plympton

A's Noarlunga (1) VS Plympton (2)
B's Noarlunga (3) VS Plympton (3)

B's - Noarlunga had the game won after being up 3 -1 with 10 odd minutes left then just fell apart to let Plympton get 2 quick goals to equalise the game. One good thing to come out of the game was myself to kick my first goal since i joined the club :)

A's - Was a pretty close through the whole game, some good hard tackling by both sides.

Lefty, I was too far away to see but did the ball cross the line in the first 30 secs at our end?? We couldn't really tell but our players were sure it did. Great save from Stam either way to stop the net rippling.

Would also like to commend the ref in the C Grade. The best ref by a mile this year. Superb young lad with the right attitude and made all the right call for and against both teams.

Well done to all your team and the burgers at the BBQ were top shelf.

Great save by Stam happened very quickly but the ball apparently crossed the line according to those that were close enough to see it however the lineman wasnt in a position to see it so play on was called.

Haime refs E&D junior games & has been doing the 35's most of the season but did C team yesterday I will pass on your comments.

good game at the Vale yesterday. Pontians came out firing but Vale witheld the pressure and scored from a corner. Not long after Chris Nicholls went down and had to come off. Vale then added a second and nearly a third before half time. Not long into the second half Vale made it 3. Pontians then lost Garry Williams to a second yellow. Full credit to the pontian lads who tried to keep playing but were beaten bya vale side who wanted in more and have now put their name in the hat as the dark horse

With the exception of the idiot who threw a beer can at the linesman, was a friendly bantered game.

Totally agree champ, the beer can incident was disgraceful. Trust me we're not happy about it..
And hopefully something can be done about it because we don't want that s*it around our club!
As far as the banter went about the hot showers and bar etc, it was a good laugh and we had to do something off the pitch because things weren't quite going to plan on the pitch
As for the game... It was pretty dissappointing from out point of view in some average conditiong! for some reason we just can't beat use, ah well! Good luck for the rest of the season!
