Liverpool fans are seeing red over the club's controversially-coloured new jersey.
Fans are flooding message boards and forums with calls for the fresh strip to be scrapped because it prominantly features blue trim, the colours of rivals Everton.
Duncan Oldham, editor of Liverpool fan forum KopTalk, summed up the supporters' reactions to the kit.
"It should be torched - after removing the Liverbird - and the persons responsible, hung from the Shankly Gates," he said.
Everton players aren't impressed by the new design direction either, with striker Louis Saha Tweeting: "Blue away kit for Liverpool? Can’t find anything more strange than that."
According to Liverpool's official website the blue represents "a throwback to Liverpool's first ever home kit back in 1892."
a throwback to Liverpool's first ever home kit back in 1892
maybe that has something to do with it
I think what you will find is that although it was Liverpools original colours, they were the colours of Everton Athletic (Liverpools original name) which reverts the club back to the days when it was adjoined to Everton FC. Everton being Liverpools closest and most hated rivals makes this shirt colour choice all the more a poor choice. What the Liverpool FC supporters current argument is that as far as they are concerned Liverpool FC is the RED side of the Mersey, and although they wore Red shirt and white shorts for some time I tend to agree that the traditional Liverpool FC kit is RED and not Blue.

The fact they wore it then is not the issue being raised

Pretty shocking kit i must say
Keeping in mind that during the time Liverpool wore the quarter panels of sky blue and white Newton Heath FC were parading around in a green and white number, whilst Manchester City had an all sky blue shirt and white socks (one of the only clubs not to sway too far from their original kit).

They do. Both have blue in them.
Good point.
At Juve our second strip has been Red, Blue, yellow and many other colours, who cares, that's why its a non preferred strip.
Great marketing tool as there are only so many variances a RED or Black and White Vertically tripped top can be.
I'm amazed Liverpool fans are complaining about the 3rd strip.
The Red and black one looks good also. Adidas could use you.
