Dawson has been superb for us the last two seasons. He did a great job on Eto'o at the lane, and also Zlatan.

Exactly my point. Fans of other teams can say what they like about players, but the fans that watch their players play week in, week out, will know better.

Did you see me use the word consistent? That pretty much eliminates VDV. Modric and Bale both have more than enough potential to be consistent world-class performers, but one swallow a summer does not make.

Dawson is average, because he is average. Not even close to first choice for his country, granted he makes less mistakes than previous years, but he is still slow and prone to being caught out of position. A poor mans Ledley king (even with the injuries). Could think of 6 English CB's I would rather than him, and English CB's are mostly average.

@ the one and only. Fair call, however Dawson is younger than Ferdinand and Terry, but Cahill is class I'll admit. Still, he is not average, a very good player and playing well. Reads the play, good in the air and commanding of his defense. All you need for a CB.
