Usain Bolt 'good enough to play football for Man Utd'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/athletics/13708993.stm

Olympic 100m and 200m champion Usain Bolt says he wants to play football when he retires from athletics and believes he is good enough to play for Manchester United.

The world's fastest man also says he still has more work to do to get back to "tip-top shape" after an injury-hit 2010 season and aims to work on his technique when he returns to Jamaica.

Bolt was speaking ahead of the Diamond League meeting in Oslo on Thursday night where he will compete in the 200m.

He'd be called offside too often (if linesmen could keep up with him)

Mods lock this topic please. I find the word "Manchester" to be both offensive and unnecessary.

As being a Red devil supporter all my life i am looking forward to the next season as the rumours going around of people signing will take Man U that one step closer to acheving the 20th title. Phil Jones and Ashley Young look like they are already signed and will give more depth to the squad.

Jones will be the 3rd or 4th choice centreback and with this signing i can see both Wes Brown and John O'Shea sold as Jones can also play in DM like O'Shea can if required.

Ashley Young will most likely play in the hole behind the striker if Man U play the 4-5-1 formation. He can also be deployed as a winger as an alternative to Nani and Valencia. With this signing i see Gibson leaving for Sunderland.

What players Man U need?

They desperately are in need of a Playmaker in that CM role. Personally i would love to see Wesley Sneijder as he has the vision and class and reminds me a lot of when Scholes was younger.

An alternative to that is Luka Modric. Great player who can pick a pass and good on his feet but his one downfall is his goalscoring from midfield. I don't see him in the 90th minute at OT coming up with that goal to get the winner that Man U score so often.

They to me also require a natural out and out winger for the left as they seem to have only Nani for the position. My ideal replacement would have to definately be Gareth Bale. Also can slot into LB when Evra is out. This kid gets down the wings with pace and reminds me of Giggs in his younger days.

Alternative to this would be Alexis Sanchez. This guy is phenomenal he reminds me quite a bit of Ronaldo. Has great pace and awesome skill. Although it looks like he is heading for Barca Sir Alex may have something to say about that.

BTW i have way too much time on my hands at work today lol

I don't see the point in the "Team" threads, specific threads get derailed, let alone one's about 1 team for a whole season!

ps: This thread sucks :D

Wesley Sneijder pledges future to Inter Milan

Wesley Sneijder has moved to end speculation over his future by insisting he wants to stay with current club Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old playmaker has been mooted as a target for Chelsea and Manchester United but is set to remain at the San Siro.

"Milan is marvellous, picturesque and full of elegance, unlike Manchester. I love it," Sneijder told the Inter website.

"At the moment I am very happy here and I don't see why I should leave, plus the weather's poor in Manchester."

The Holland international joined Inter in the summer of 2009 and played a major part in helping Inter win the Treble of the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in his first season.

The Italian club finished second in the league and got to the last eight of the Champions League during the last campaign, with their only trophy coming when they beat Palermo to win the Coppa Italia.

Sneijder, who scored four goals in 25 outings in a season hampered by injury, has a contract running until 2015 with Inter and his commitment to the club will disappoint potential suitors.

"There is a family atmosphere at Inter and there are all the ingredients to aim high," added Sneijder.

transfer fee for jones is extraordinary, its only because he is english and home grown players seem to be worth more. they could spend the money on gary cahill and charlie adam and have change. i think united will also land young which will be a great signing. as for the keeper, im not so sure bringing in such a young keeper is ideal and united never really get the keeper sigining right, more duds then success stories
