A very entertaining game today, we found ourselves 2 nil down after 25 mins from a great brace by the BL #9 unfortunately he received a second yellow after 35 and was sent off. We worked our way back into the game after the send off and leveled it at 2-2 at HT. The game was very passionate and at half time some spectators made a comment to the ref which he decided to call off the game. Unfortunately this referee was the same who officiated the BESA game a few weeks back. Luckily myself and the BL coach managed to get the game back on with the ref back on board. We scored early in the 2nd half and after two lengthy injury delays and another dubious BL send off BL were able to equalize in the 51st minute. A very earnt point for BL with 9 men, we should have done a lot better against 10 then 9. Thanks to Barry and the BL lads for coming in for a drink.
Well written mate, just 2 things though:

1 - Brahma player was not given a second yellow, was given a straight red, for a fair tackle he was not even involved in!
2 - Ref at half time stood away from brahma supporters, if a worrying comment was made, which as a large group nowhere near the ref we had no knowledge of, we certainly do not condone any violence towards any ref. No matter how absolutley woeful he is, and was. Well done to you and Barry for sorting it out, was definately no need to stop the game. To be brutally honest i think this fella needs to take some time off, what happened to him is shiraz terrible but the way he reffed today seems as though it has put him off his game.

10 men for 70 mintes 9 for the last 15 minutes, very entertaining game for sure. top chicken kebabs too!
I think that ref is a lil paranoid with good reason it may b his passion but i think the bloke needs to giv it away he was PITTMAN yesterday probly 2 of the worst red cards i have ever seen, made the game a nerve racking one to watch mayb he should ref juniors! 1 person that walked past the ref had the club colors on, and no there was no intention of threatening the ref, he took what was said outa context, good to see that it was all sorted sensibly by the coaches and the ref got on with it. much calmer second half with end to end football good day all in all!

#9 did get a yellow earlier as confirmed on the team sheet so I just presumed the send off was his second yellow. Didn't implicate who made the comments in my prior post to the referee, was happy to leave all that at the ground but just to elaborate slightly now, the ref claimed 3 supporters wearing club jackets/colours made their comment as they were walking to the street to get into their car away from where the majority of your supporters were. He obviously took offence stormed off and threw the match ball at me as I was making my way back to the sideline.
At the end of the day we got it sorted the game went on, a result was had and we all had a beer. Agree with you though, full kudos for the ref getting back after the incident but maybe some time away may not be a bad thing for him at the moment?
well done to the knights B's for hanging on for the win. Sadly we squandered numerous opportunities which was reflected in the final score. If only the knights players could keep ther whingeing mouths shut it wouldve been a much better spectacle. When the ref warns you about it learn to listen and you'll end up with 11 on the park at the final whistle.

P.S - yes you can get sent off after the whistle for ungentlemanly conduct towards the ref.
ARE YOU JOKING???? ive never seen in my life such a poor display of a ref.
over all your team were good and the game was played hard by both sides, how ever you cannot with good consious tell me your ref wasnt cheeting (just like he did last time)
our whole team were given yellow cards.

after a two footed tackle infront of my eyes i said "thats rediculous" and the ref waddled over from the other side of the park and gave ME a yellow card. how is this ungentlemanly conduct?

he didnt listen two either of the two lines men ONCE and told me to "shut the f#*k up" when i appealed an obvious hand ball! :?: :?: :?:
i would understand being rude and arguing but i was under the impression that you were allowed to appeal at least once for a fowl :!:
I actually felt sorry for your club at this emarresment.
Ill agree that the game was played well by both sides and didnt really notice any bone breaking challenges like the one you mention but i might have missed it however i thought he did a reasonable job with picking up the fouls for both sides but i dont know who you are but i could hear your sweeper or centreback cussing non stop from where i was on the side. No problems with appealing a decision at all but i reckon some of your lads took it a bit far IMO. Surely if he cheated that much we wouldve won the game? If youve ever had Helmut referree you then you would know he would send you off for looking at him the wrong way and if you've played at any better than amateurs you'd know Barry Panella would do the same. What do you reckon they wouldve done if a player dropped their pants at them when walking off the field or if when the final whistle went the ran straight for them and ranted like a lunatic in their face?? but for some reason people think its ok to give the B's ref a bollocking. Tom as an individual gives more of himself for the club than any other person i have known involved at any club and he may not be perfect but there is much worse out there. 8)

Maybe you would prefer the 150 year old that does the Westies reserves who just lets everything go and never leaves the centre circle. The tackles that went on there were enough to make you cringe and hope no one ended up on a stretcher but good on him for having a go as like with most clubs its hard enough to get someone to do it as it is.

Anyway its done now and i wish you all the best for the remainder of the year.

Seems like you missed a fair bit, but it's a long way to the Bar

Just one question

How are players supposed to respect a referee when he says 'don't swear' when

1) Both sets of players were swearing?
2) The Referee probably swore the most?
3) When he ran the line he continually abused the supporters?

Now, what 'spin' will you put on this one?

I think enough has been said by you two BOY'S. The ref did his best, if that was not good enough for the Knights, that's just too bad and that does not give your players the right to run at our ref at the end of the game and abuse him in a violent, threatening manner! Boy's when the whistle blows at the end of the game, its Beer O'Clock.

That happened at the West Raptors game. Westies player nearly had his head kicked off and when a player said "How did you not see that" the ref sprinted to the player ( I reckon thats when he did his calf) yellow card in hand and gave a right mouthfull.

From all accounts the refs language was colourfull all day.

yeah well ill agree with that once the whistle is blown we all shake hands and move on,
no one wants to physically hurt the guy it just spoils a game with things like that.

and yes ive seen many power hungry refs who obviously were picked on at school or dominated by their wives and all they want to do is take it out on people.

i was playing and was standing next to the ref when our player was near him he didnt abuse or threaten him whatsoever he was just laughing and because he was infront of him i think one of the maco players thought he was aggresive so he pushed him over but it was all smiles after so lets get on with the rest of the season. :D

Yes I feel for the ref BUT I also think the SAASL and the Refs association should step in by either sending him to do Div 1 games (I think they have 2 official linesmen) and or sending someone down with him or telling him to have a month off (Is there OH&S when it comes to ref's). I feel for the ref with what happened against BESA but it isn't NOT going to happen every week. A referee shouldn't get rattled during a game but he was. He made a couple of errors and started putting his hand up the wrong way at free kicks, he was told by several players that the Vikings match official (wearing a fluro top) was yelling abuse at players and told us to ignore it. The Vikings official went over the mark and had a few guys telling him so (Ref could have prevented it by stepping in earlier). The send offs were ridiculous and Im sure he would even say he made 2 mistakes. There was alot of diving and faking by Vikings players that could have been stopped by a yellow card or 2. What happened after half time (Him not wanting to continue) is nothing short of embarrassing. At the end of the game most players shook hands except for there number 32 but he had small man syndrome all day, Brahma played the game an hour early and stayed for a drink. Was a draw a fair result maybe? But one wonders what would happen if it was 11 V 11.

Good Point! The only reason you could tell was that after the first 15 dives and players holding there heads the ref would fall for it sooner or later

Yes great point

I also think that some players who face North during corner kicks could causing trouble and not leed to fair play tactics
