What the? wrote:Wow the Cumby haters are now Olympic haters. Whos next???
Why do you take things personally?
I think you don't realise that there are no "haters"...
Ppl criticise the way Cumby treats some players and their mentality to "win at all costs" which is in stark contrast to whatever the club has always been and what many members were led to believe it still was. So be it, what's wrong with talking about that?No one hates the club, the players or whatever...it's just opinions. All the same, nobody hates Olympic! Why do you say so? Everyone keeps saying they are the best team on paper! Again, ppl have criticised (rightly so) the way some news were published that make the whole sport look like a farce. So what?
If there is pressure on those teams, it's just plain normal. In the past there was pressure on others. They declare that they are there to win - if they don't declare it...well their recruiting speaks for itself - so ppl expect them to do so. If you have an article one week celebrating your ten goals vs SA then you don't deliver on the Sunday...what should ppl say? But again, it's just opinions, comments...
If you reckon this is "hating"...good luck with that. Get real.

Re: Results 29/05
Olympic v Cumberland.
1st half
I missed KO so didn’t get any initial clues on how both sides set up so had to observe from field play. Olympic looked like 1352 but then they would have an extra player drop back so not sure whether 1442. Must confess was a bit preoccupied trying to grasp Cumby formation which I couldn’t work out, had another coach next to me and he couldn’t work it out either. Seemed like a 1442 but the right forward was left high and wide while on the left side Peate would drop back in defensive line to make 5 across back although probably following a player so not sure. If it was 14231 or their previous 1433 it was poorly executed. Anyway very tight entertaining first half with a couple of chances for both teams. Nil all at half time.
2nd half
“Plagiarism is the highest form of flattery”
Again not sure about Olympic but Cumby came out and setup with 14231 which I’m told was exactly how Metro took on Olympic and won so why not, no point reinventing the wheel. Early on Olympic won possession at the back and played a short pass to another defender without enough weight on it and stolen by Cumby no10 and went to goal and scored not long after Quigley was inside the box about to shoot and was brought down, looked a clear penalty from my view, Ref tried to play advantage when there wasn’t any he blew for penalty. Cries of dive from the Cumby observers, hard to say with out replay for my POV. 1 all. Looked like it would finish at that with good end to end stuff from both sides. However Olympic defend corners very poorly and with about 7 minutes to go Cumby won a corner and as I recall Peate got a head to it and Cumby no10 banged in the rebound. About 2 minutes later another corner poorly defended with Calder putting in the header. Well as I recall anyway…
3:1 win to Cumby.
Observations from the game.
Calder IMO dominated the game not the much talked about strikers, Calder’s lone individual efforts especially in the first half kept Cumby in the game repeatedly.
Cumby no 10 does not like to pass the ball, absolute last resort to pass.
Olympic need some defending corner and free kick extra training.
Tactically Olympic were frustrating to watch because their build up play is just excellent but make a tactical error in how they play their final ball in the top third. I can see it can work against less quality defenders but against Calder it’s the wrong type of ball to play IMO. I was hoping to see a slight coaching instruction change for the final pass would have really put Cumby under pressure but if it was instructed then it wasn’t put into practice.
Olympic generally stay compact with their back 3 or 4 when they win possession at the back, IMO be better to spread and get the ball out of danger quickly and safely instead of the short passes.
Calder best player on the ground IMO while the most impressive was Checker, once the errors get cut out, wow what a player!
Twice I’ve seen Cumby/Olympic and Calder has been the difference each time IMO
Hope Cumby have a replacement defender once Calder goes to USA!
Cumby relied on individual efforts but it worked.
Cumby deserved their 3-1 win, well done!
Olympic didn’t deserve to lose on 98% of play but couldn’t defend corners so probably result indicative of where they are at.
Olympic play lovely possession football, passages best I’ve seen in women’s Prem football, a real compliment to their players and coach!

Re: Results 29/05
Looks like Cumberland might struggle when she leaves if someone can't step it up at the back in the way Nicole Calder does!
We played sturt on the weekend, they are improving in leaps and bounds which is good to see! Hat off to Blacky and co. They are playing a better brand of football than that of previous years. Still work to be done without doubt but good signs! Jess waterhouse is an outrageous talent! Shame they will lose her next year if Sasi move into premier league!
On that note.. Looks like city are the team to beat!

For a division 4 league, PHU vs. Raiders was a class game! Big turnout as well!
And the game sheet was fine thanks.

my thoughts exactly.
Re: Results 29/05
I would agree if I didn't know the players but hey...Cumby and Olympic are the teams that must deliver. The others...well...you never know in football but really those two are superior.
