Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
On another note, Conte will officially become Juve coach within the next couple of days.
Does everyone think this is the right decision given that there were high profile coaches on the market such as Van Gaal, Lippi, and from today even Ancelotti? Even Spalletti was rumoured at various stages.
I think that Juve have rushed in to appoint Conte just because he is a Juventino. It's almost like Ferrarra all over again (I know Conte has more experience and has won in Serie B with 2 teams, but still)
Opinions?

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
It's definitely not a good thing changing the coach every year, but it seems the be a very common trend accross Europe, coaches stays on the bench are becoming shorter and shorter as the massive amount of money that is invested in the team increases the pressure on the coach to perform, after all it is easier to get rid of one person as opposed to a whole team.
I think one of the major problems with Juve this year is what seems to be a lack of passion. Many high profile players past and present have highlighted that Juve has seldom played together as team with the passion and discipline that was present in previous campaigns. Would Conte fix this? It is a risk he becomes like Ferrara and the line of authority between coach and player becomes blurred.
As far as new players to arrive, it is glaringly obvious the defficencies Juventus have across the park. Pirlo in my opinion is a good start but maybe on a two year deal instead of three. It's also reported that we are close to bastos, good signing but that would take up the Non-EU spot and not leave any room for a striker, we should have made a play for Rossi before he signed a new deal, he said he would like to return to Italy but now he will more than likely end up and Barcelona.
Clichy and Beck for the full back spots and sign pepe, quag, matri, sorensen and aquilani on permanent deals. The next month will be interesting as the rumour mill kicks into overdrive, the big question is whether Marotta and Co will spend the reported 120 million wisely or squander it on sub-par players

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Pirlo to Juventus is official. Now to make Conte official on the bench and we can move forward into the rest of the transfer market. This pretty much confirms we will not look to make the Aquilani move permanent.
Got to see how Pirlo will fit into Conte's football and who he will have alongside Pirlo, either Marchisio or Melo.

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
I forgot to add in my previous post that Juve should take a look at some of Sampdoria's players, even though relegated they still have quality across the pitch. Their relegation could mean a possible cut price, the likes of Gastaldello, Poli, Palombo, Ziegler would all be handy.
However it seems as though Marotta and Co have already had this thought.
Switzerland international Reto Ziegler is close to leaving relegated Serie A side Sampdoria for struggling giants Juventus on a free transfer, as the left-back is set to undergo a medical at the Turin side, Tuttosport reports.
Juve have been in the market for a new left-back for some time, but they have now apparently found their man with Ziegler, who had also attracted the interest of Lazio.
The 25-year-old is expected to ink a long-term deal upon successful completion of his medical this Wednesday.
Ziegler started his professional career with Grasshopper and also wore the jerseys of Tottenham Hotspur, Wigan Athletic and Hamburg before joining Sampdoria in January 2007.
He has since made over 100 appearances for the Genoa side, but decided not to extend his expiring contract this summer as he was searching for a new challenge after the club's demotion to Serie B.
Ziegler represents Juventus' second signing ahead of the 2011-12 campaign, after securing the services of Andrea Pirlo from AC Milan on a Bosman move earlier this week.
Good signing in my opinion, provides a threat going forward and is also sound defensively, a good start so far but still need a few full backs. As far as I'm concerned we don't currently have any full backs, or at least any capable of wearing the Juve shirt week in week out. I rate De Ceglie and hope he can stay injury free, but I still believe he would be better served further up the park.
Also Clichy this week stated his desire to leave Emirates, he would be another one to have a look at, we've been linked with him in the past, however his trophyless period at Arsenal may prompt him to find a club that is going to challenge for honors immediately, he may see Juve as a team that perhaps cannot offer this.
Interesting next couple of months for Juventini.

I rate Lucchini out of the Samp team and wouldn't mind seeing a move for him, if we intend to keep Sorensen on the right side of defence. He would finish off the centre of defence nicely.

Juve's left back position is nearly safe now if De Ceglie can prove his fitness. Him and Ziegler should be able to get the job done.
I would prefer Sorensen to be moved back into the centre, as a back up to Chiellini and Bonucci, he's too lanky for a wing back and at this stage doesn't have the ability to get up and down the pitch and deliver good crosses. His strengths lie in the air, tackling and positioning, which will make him a good CB for the future.

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Napoli’s Michele Pazienza is on the verge of becoming Juventus’ third signing ahead of the 2011-12 campaign.
The Old Lady have already netted Andrea Pirlo from Milan and Sampdoria’s Reto Ziegler on free transfers this week.
Now Juve are expected to complete their hat-trick of Bosmans with Pazienza who is out of contract next month.
Pazienza, born in 1982, is a combative midfielder who has been unable to reach agreement over a contract extension at the Stadio San Paolo.
Pazienza started his career at Foggia, before moves to Udinese and Fiorentina. He joined Napoli in January 2008.
Reports this evening are suggesting that his transfer to the Turin giants could be made official by the end of this week.
Didin't watch enough of him this year to give an informed opinion. Arriving on a free it seems like a decet deal as long as we don't pay ridiculous wages, cos if it doesn't work out we have another bench warmer earning top dollar ala Amauri.

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Marotta is not as stupid as Secco. Can't imagine he would be on huge wages (nor Ziegler). Need depth in the centre of midfield because I'm expecting Sissoko to leave.
Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Decent start to the transfer market here...adding some much needed depth, just pray the rest of our transfer campaign goes well and we get rid some of these back yarders off our list.

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
all good signing pirlo, ziegler and pazienza but we must sign 2-3 big names that are in there prime...aguero, bastos etc
i think pazienza will be wrapped up tonight, followed by bastos next week. im just hoping we come to an agreement for aguero or tevez, thats the kind of forward were missing. they cant keep naming all big names and sign poulsen like the past.
rumours are marotta is going after inler as well now, be very interesting what comes of that...

Havent seen much of Pazienza either, can we get some info from any Nap supporters?
If Lyon want anything more than 15m for Bastos then I think it's too much. I don't think that he should be valued more than what Krasic was. Vargas from Fiorentina would also be a good candidate for the left hand side but he's had a pretty inconsistent season.

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
My understanding is that we can only buy one non eu player per season, correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't bastos, tevez and aguero all fit into this category.
If this is the case it can only be one and as I've said in earlier posts we should have stitched up Rossi before he signed a new deal, then we would be free to sign bastos without any re-percussions, but as it stands only one of the three mentioned will be wearing the bianconero shirt next year.

My mistake I think your correct, isn't one of his grandparents of Italian heritage? makes it a possibility of signing both Aguero and Bastos then even if Atletico wont budge on his $45m buyout clause. However he has made his feelings about leaving clear and at the end of the day they might decide its better selling him on for a good fee rather than keeping a unhappy player around.BAGGIO 15 wrote:Doesn't Augero have an EU passport because of a grandparent?David Puddy wrote:I'd personally go 1. Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Inler's wife snubs Napoli for Juve?
The reports that Juventus will snatch Gokhan Inler away from Napoli gain credence. “His wife would prefer Turin.”
The Udinese midfielder is one of those expected to be sold over the summer, even though his club are in the Champions League preliminary round.
Up until recently it was thought he was very close to joining Napoli, but the Bianconeri have made a sudden interception.
“I am not in contact with Napoli,” agent Dino Lamberti told Tuttosport newspaper.
“I have to help the player make a very important step in his career, so it is my duty to speak with other clubs, obviously with the authorisation of Udinese.”
It is suggested Juve offered a four-year contract worth €2.1m per season plus bonuses, while Udinese would receive Albin Ekdal, Manuel Giandonato or Frederik Sorensen as part of the deal.
The reasoning behind the turnaround has been provided by Il Mattino journalist Luca Pasquaretta.
“Napoli reached a deal with Udinese to sign Inler, but the Swiss international has chosen Juventus for two reasons,” claimed Pasquaretta.
“Firstly, he would earn more in Turin and is impressed by the plans of President Andrea Agnelli. He could play the Champions League with Napoli, but apparently that wasn’t too important to him.
“The second reason is to do with his family. His wife doesn’t like the look of Naples, that is the rumour, so she would prefer Turin.
“Considering the Pozzo family has given its word to Napoli, we’ll have to see if they can convince Inler to change his mind.”
Losing Giandonato and Sorensen outright would be a disaster for the future as they will be regulars and have all the potential needed to become great.

Inler, Marchisio, Melo, Pirlo, Aquilani, Sissoko is too many CM's, unless were planning to play a 4-3-3 and need more CM's as back up?

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Add pazienza to that list as well, he`ll be confirmed soon enough. Aquilani wont stay at juve, unless liverpool drop the price bit which i dont think they will...i can see him ending up at milan
Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
Agree I can definetely see Aquilani in Milan colours next year, especially if we get Inler. He would jump at the chance to join them ahead of returning to England, he has made it quite clear that he prefers Italy, not only on a professional level but also a personal one.
Also Michel Bastos' agent has recently been quoted as saying that his EU passport should come through in the next few days and that this would open up more options for him particularly in Italy. I don't see how we can't sign him, we need a left winger and he fits the mould, he has declared his desire to play at Juventus and with his pending EU passport it would leave our Non EU spot open for a striker. News indicates towards a deal being brokered soon, but I hope Marotta doesn't procrastinate to much otherwise he'll get snapped by someone else.

True, but if Bastos wants Juve as much as he says, then he'll give that bid as much of a chance as possible.
Interesting that Conte mentioned Marchisio when talking about Pirlo in his press conference. Could that be his centre of midfield next season?

I think the formula we had for the CM's this year worked well, one more defensive (Melo) and one more attacking (Aqua). Don't think Pirlo and Marchisio will provide enough protection for the defense, especially considering our defensive record this season. Inler (If he comes) and Marchisio might be ok, as they are both generally box to box CM's/Juventino wrote:True, but if Bastos wants Juve as much as he says, then he'll give that bid as much of a chance as possible.

Re: Juventus Transfer Campaign
I think at times in the middle of the park we were a little predictable and to slow to build up, inturn it made it easier for defences to mark our forwards and harder for players like Krasic to take advantage of the opposition defence being out of formation. Also the absence of a plan b last year, never enabled us to change up how we approached our attacking game.David Puddy wrote:I think the formula we had for the CM's this year worked well, one more defensive (Melo) and one more attacking (Aqua). Agree with you though about the importance of cover for the defence, but also important to note most of the damage was done by our opposition via our fullback positions, which we have started to rectify for next year.
