RACHEAL Quigley was told by the match referee last Sunday that she broke a record when Adelaide Olympic belted South Adelaide 20-0.

The state's football federation failed to confirm if Quigley's 10-goal haul in the women's premier league clash was the greatest scoring feat in the domestic competition's top flight. But she wasn't complaining. The fact that 10 goals helped her side beat South and stay top was all that mattered.

"We were down to 10 and then nine players for a little bit," Quigley said.

The Lady Reds W-League player now leads the premier league's goal-scoring with 22 after just six rounds. She said scoring more than 10 goals in a game was going to be hard to top.

"I scored nine goals in one game when I was playing under-9s," she said. "Who knows, I've scored six goals against Fulham but I guess other teams are ready for it now."

Dont get me wrong I'd love to score 10 goals and have my name and picture in the paper but it doesn't do much for the game hey..

Anyone from Para Hills United come close to scoring 10 individual goals in a game?

Nice jounalism too - Let's take the word of the ref who hardly knows the proper rules of the game let alone any federation goal scoring records lol!

Any publicity is good publicity right.......??????

Good achievement no doubt but against a team new to the Premier league. It just makes the premier league here in SA look bad to publicise a that a team in the top tier lost 20-0. Also, 10 goals in 1 game but how come no goals in the W-League for Adelaide?

Just goes to show how far behind SA womens league is to other state leagues and the W-League, and hence the Lady Reds lovely track record of 27 games or whatever without a win.

If I was reading the article and didn't know any better I would be thinking what type of standard is this "premier" league. It is definitely lacking the additional information to put the result into context.

IMO the article hasn't achieved anything positive for the womens soccer community so what exactly is the point? Surely more of an editorial about a homegrown player (which could have included the 10 goal achievement) would have been a better option.

people still harp on about Archie Thompsons world record of goals in an international and that was against American Samoa! So let Rach bask in the sun with her 10 from the weekend! She's already scored 6 against Fulham as well. Leads the scoring in the league again. As for herr United record jesus no one scores for them

she scores regularly and is top scorer in the league and reigning player of the year. So she obviously score when it counts too

i am. non achievement, a striker bullying a weak team is what they should be doing, not what we should applaud in awe.

10 goals is great but where were the united goals? just saying "no one scored for united" doesn't excuse it.
