Pontian came back from 2-0 down to get the winner in injury time. They also missed a penalty. They possibly over run us in the second half, but we certainly had our chances to wrap it up.
Disappointing result for us after a really positive start, but you gotta play for 90.....
I'm sure the boys will hit the track hard & be ready to get back to winning ways next week.
Fantastic game to watch as a neutral and some cracking goals from both teams. Almost felt a draw would be a fitting result, but Pontians just got that last gasp effort that now sees them top. Well done both teams who both gave 100% in tough conditions.
Thanks to Pontains for the beers shouted (Greek beer called Vergina's  ) and Easties for graciousness (although I can tell they were devasted as any team would be from 2-0 up and lose). Great day out.
They weren't Greek Bomber, they are Macedonian...

Correct! Just read the label again.

That's a pretty good response after copping 11 in the cup.
For all the talk about Western Strikers, they were fairly subdued on the field (with the exception of the whinging, four yellows for dissent!)

Was 0-0 ht and they were always going to struggle going into the wind the second half. All the boys had a good game in pretty woeful conditions.

It was my understanding that they were going to be the team to beat in DIV 3 with Zafran coaching and all these new players that came on board. Looks like relegation IMO

no one on our end ever said that it was just an assumption from most clubs. we are struggling for numbers and although we have some handy inclusions eg. branko, shane porter and a few quality black kids that still isn't enough to compete as we all know it takes 11 players to win a match. very dissapointing effort. bigdawg do you think 6-2 was a fair indication of the game considering we controlled most of the game? take nothing away from you guys you played well and converted your chances and we were unlucky hitting the woodwork 3 times.

I would see no reason for them to move as they have quite a large ground already unless of course they are looking to get rid of their current facilities and expand the club.?.?

I think you will find that is Salisbury United that were going to lease it, but that has since fallen through and are now looking at Paralowie Football CLubs vacated grounds. So I have been told

6-2 probably flatters us a little bit. before you guys scored your first, a few on the sidelines were saying that you deserved to have already scored a couple. it was nice for us to be on this side for a change as we have been on your end of it a ferw times and it is frustrating.

as for the comment about not getting 11 to para hills, to be fair to Asteras they had their linesman play as well as a committee member. and 15 minutes before kick off only had 6 players there, started the game with 10 men for 15 minutes. so i think you will find it is obviously a genuine issue for them finding players. so i hardly think they would have forfeited lightly as it may appear.

well said and not having that depth in the b's is obviously showing in the a's with suspensions, injuries players unavailable etc... plus we never win at hackham lol dont think we ever have.....look forward to the home match later on... cheers for the beers :D

We did look at the option as we have 5 teams (3 mens, 2 womens) and only one pitch....however it would have meant becoming part of the Federation competition and leaving the SAASL. We were then in discussion on just moving our Womens Teams there as they are under FFSA but the Committee decided against it namely due to cost.

It's a shame to hear Salisbury United is no longer going there. The Facility has cost the Government over $7m, being in the Salisbury Council it would be nice to see the Salisbury club's make use of the facility however the costs the FFSA are asking is making it very hard....

bigdawg, the only issue I have with teams forfeiting Bs is, they would surely have known pre season they were going to struggle, and full credit to them for at least trying to fill two teams. But surely something has to be done, because by midway through the season, they are going to be forfeiting games on a weekly basis, youre just going to be one of the lucky teams that actually gets to get a double digit scoreline.

They had the same issues last year, but again, hats off to them for sticking it out last year, surely they knew they were going to have a shortage this year.

I am not sure how all this works but can the Council get involved, have a say who uses the ground ? I ask that because who pays for the upkeep of the facility if it is not being used ?
Is it possible for the two clubs to share the facility ? Can always look at setting up a pitch for the women's teams at Happy Home Reserve,if that is still there ? would be a nostalgic connection.

yeah i get what you are saying and when it looked like being a forfeit we were pissed at only getting a 2-0 result. but i was talking to one of their lads on sunday and he said they actually have 37 or 39 players registered just people being away and having things on. its just as frustrating for them i'm sure. i know in the past they have had guys playing in the a's and b's just to make numbers.
also, maybe they need to look at doing what croatia did last year and going in to div 6 if they can only field one team, but that would be a last resort i would think.
the only thing i can think is that if a team forefeits then instead of losing 2 nil, perhaps it should be whatever there average goals conceded per game is. e.g. played 10 games and conceded 80 goals, then you lose 8-0???? dunno, but it does need to be fair as goal difference (not so much in the B's) can be the difference at the end of the year, especially with promotion or relegation.

Sounds like our over 35's, so Zafa would be used to this sort of organisation/chaos after playing with us...only difference is the 6 that are there 15 minutes before KO are having a beer and smoke to warm up...at 9.15am!
