To be fair Maiwand used to be the same but they have cleaned up their act and are 100% better than they used to be.
Maiwand? The central Asian trend mullet sporting mountain goat herders?
They were vile little turds when we played against them.

The League had an opportunity to respond. I think the most sensible for clubs to do is refuse to play their fixture against them.
And if they get promoted, the clubs in the higher divisions should refuse to play them as well.
Yes, how long would it take the club to disband if they had no game every week, week after week. As to promotion, SAASL could pass a resolution saying 50% of all results must be actually played for promotion to take place

If they won't, then:

4) Slap the biggest possible fine on the club & when the club defaults sue the club officials personally for payment.
I'm sure there are a couple of solicitor types playing in SAASL who would be happy to help keep costs down.
I'm in agreement that every club should refuse to play them ever again - starting with Plympton this Sunday.
Point no 4 wont work nor conceivably happen. But 3 out of 4 aint bad.
can you make a song out of that :?

It is not our association’s policy to communicate information to online forums; however, in this case, the executive of the management committee has felt it necessary to post an official statement on this matter.
First, and foremost, we would like to inform concerned members of this forum that our member has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home. The swelling to his face and head are subsiding and he is in good spirits despite the pain and internal/external bruising. More medical checks are being conducted this week.
On behalf of all our members, thank you to those of you who have expressed genuine concern and a speedy recovery for one of our most experienced top level referees.
The referee reports have been lodged with the SAASL and we are hopeful of a speedy process in addressing what has been perhaps one of the worst incidents in the history of the Amateur League.
Please note that we cannot and will not provide any further information, post any opinions or reply to any queries on this forum regarding this incident.

there is a responsibility of the league to supply a safe working environment and a duty of care this thread highlights they are guilty of not supplying both if this ref was to have a brain injury etc then a court case with massive punitive damages will see this comp finished
saasl stop f%4king about you have cards with players names numbers etc you just need to act, get rid of the lot fold the club by middle of the week and give them no options to come back.
can anyone shed light, didn't the Vics have a problem with violent supporters and teams and from memory didn't the team have to play without any supporters and club got evicted without finishing season and refused entry for a number of seasons after?

Messrs Secretary good news on the Ref hope he gets well soon, one would hope your league will be transparent in future decisions handed down to the club / players / spectators and when parties are proven guilty they are removed from the game for life.
If the club refuses to get actions for their followers accountability, then your only option is to ban the club for life, a club remaining silent is an admission of guilt and one that accepts this violent action as normal.

I understand it is difficult not to comment on a public forum with your position, but we appreciate the update and I think in this instance your exception has been a good choice. I for one am very glad to hear he is better (if you could call it that) and is at least back home. Please send my well wishes and support.
This incident is a disgrace to our sport and when I heard about it, I could not believe it. Banning them for life is not good enough, the cowardly culprits should be charged and put in prison, every single one of them. I am sure this will become National or International news soon.
Was it the supporters or the players who attacked the referee? Those responsible for the attack should be dealt in the harshest possible way. Those who did not lend assistance, should be made an example of. Those not involved, well there is the tough question. Are you guilty by association?
In my opinion i do believe that the whole team should be dealt with and a ban placed on an Albanian Community team for a minimum of 20 years. Maybe this will eradicate what thugs are around and not only punish them but punish their children from having an Albnanian team and make them actually realise this is not Albania it's Australia.
I feel deeply sorry for the ref and as per reports from SAASRA he is getting better which is good news. But to whoever was at the game and let that happen shame on you. BESA supporters especially how can you live with yourselves and think that doing a dog act like that is cool or funny is beyond belief. The BESA players on the filed how can you guys call yourself men when you let a bunch of animals attack one man and dont try to stop or condone the violence as this has been going back since the 80's.
I wrote on here a few days ago that the SAASL can't kick a team out just becuase of race but thinking and reading posts on this forum i have changed my view on this and believe that whoever the team is and whatever race it may be no one should be allowed to compete after perfoming an act so malicious.

agree it is gutless and should be stamped out but basing it on race opens a whole can of worms...what if they were english or italian for example....you cant just ban a race
I agree Lion you can not ban a race of people as an earlier poster suggested ban the club and its officials. Further only 2 of eagles players can sign for any other club. This could eliminate a strong the supporter problem and prevent them reforming under a differnt name
To be honest, I don't think there is anything the SAASL can do to eradicate this problem...
Ban by race, Lawsuit.
Ban players who were not involved? Lawsuit...
Ban the directors of BESA? There's always someone else to start up a new club....
Has anyone got a realistic idea on how to stop these idiots from destroying our sport? What ref is going to step up to do one of their games after this? I know I wouldn't for what I was getting paid.
Honestly surprised this hasn't been blown out in the media....

The thing is, registering a player is so bloody lax at the SAASL.... Recently, I took down my paperwork, a passport photo and that was it. I could've put down any bloody name on it and they would be none the wiser... The whole thing left me kind of worried actually.
To enforce the above idea, they really should be taking photocopies of drivers licences etc
If all the referees refuse to do their games along with clubs refusing to play then kick the club out of the league and only allow 2 former eagles palyers to sign at any one club
mtgambier ranger wrote: and only allow 2 former eagles palyers to sign at any one club
I think SAASL could come under fire legally for that. I also don't think that would solve the problem. What if the remaining players of that disbanded club start rocking up to the new club as supporters that 2 of the players joined and start causing trouble? Instead of physco players, they now become physco supporters.... (which is the problem we have here anyway)
mtgambier ranger wrote:True but I am sure other clubs would not tolerate that sort of behaviour
I suppose it depends on how much money these Albanians are pumping into the 'newly supported' club and then if something did happen what club President/club member is going to risk getting bashed telling a group of these animals they are no longer welcome at the club?

of coarse you can ban them . how many albanian teams are there? this needs to be sorted out now. a lengthy ban is needed as their younger generation soak all this violence up and think it is accepted and continue with crap. we played a certain ethnic group from this general vicinity in a cup game a few years ago and the ref and our centre back were threatend to the extent that the ref asked us to escort him from the field after the final whistle . all us players and supporters were told to stay in a tight group while we and the ref made a hasty exit. if we hadnt have travelled with a decent crowd ibelieve we would of been like lambs to the slaughter and i feel for clubs that dont have this luxury.but another sad incident that day was when a kid was told to boot the ball away when one of our players was retrieving it for a throw with a couple of minutes to go.this kid put his foot threw it and there crowd just laughed.this is the problem it is INGRAINED in them at a early age and it will take a while to get them to think the way most of us think about sport
Well when i was talking about banning a race I mean more so a club. Seeing BESA are the only albanian club that means them. For Instance if this was a greek club i wouldnt say ban all greeks just ban the assocaition they are a part of from taking part in the competion.
There are teams of Albanian heritage that are not like BESA in Australia here is a team that are not psychos. They actually play in the VPL which is the equivalent to our Super League.
Dandenong Thunder SC is a football (soccer) club from Dandenong, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They are an Albanian Australian backed club. From the 2009 season they compete in the Victorian Premier League, which is one tier below the A-League. In 2009 it claimed the Victorian Premier League Minor Premiership, winning the league by an incredible 12 points.
I'm pretty sure SAASL don't have to accept every club application they receive. Just say 'no' next time they're suspicious it's a BESA / Eagles / whatever reduct.

we all know what you meant chelski no one is slaging off an entire race theres good and bad in every race and culture but the ones we have here have shown they cant play the game the right way.we would welcome an albanian at our club but start trouble and they would be whisked away. we kicked out a player in the pre season for violent conduct. first game and he was gone no second chances. if it wasnt for cool heads from ABE it could have really escalated but they could tell this was not condoned by us and the game went ahead

And what if they call the club Marion Aquatic Centre Speedo Boys? Would they still find that 'Albanian Suspicioius'?
